Been here several times due to convenience of the location but there are much better Mexican restaurants and food trucks in Chicagoland. Steak is always overcooked. Avocados are not fresh, they have the brown color of rotting avocados. Last straw was I went there today and ordered a 3 tostada dinner but when I got home I discovered that I had one gotta instead. A few things, this is the nearest Mexican restaurant to my workplace so I gave them a few tries. The food is very underwhelming to the point of being kinda gross. Nothing authentic about this place. Most of the time it upsets my stomach and shoots out my butt as a liquid. Also the owner wants you to pay in valid US currency but refuses to serve valid US employees. Says so right on the door. Decided to try burrito express yesterday cause I kept hearing they had decent food. I ordered 2 large horchatas and 2 steak taco dinners. One dinner had cilantro, lettuce, no tomato, and onion on the side with rice(bad) and beans on the side. The other contained cilantro,no lettuce,no tomatoes and onion with rice(bad) and beans on the side. I enjoyed the tacos and beans. However, the rice was horrible. It tasted spoiled and came back up immediately (noted I ordered my food approximately around 7:50-8pm and ate on my break at 10pm and kept it refrigerated at my job) I work graveyard shifts so go back that night was impossible and I knew I had to put something on my stomach so I ate the tacos and beans ONLY! And soon as I woke up I called them and had trouble even getting a hold of a manager as they didn't want to speak with me only relayed messages. I called to let them know my entire experience and ask to be refunded for the rice portions or for new rice as neither had been eaten and I even kept them as prove for the restaurant but was told since I didn't have the physical receipt they couldn't and wouldn't do anything about it. And my proof of purchase wasn't enough. They didn't apologize or anything and no accommodation! I was just knowing that I paid for two dinners to only receive one side for both. read more

The food has always been just okay depending on what you get the American food not so much but the owner and its staff have a horrible attitude and unwilling to fix mistakes done by their staff even when admitting a mistake has been done. My family and I have eaten here for over 5 yrs which is sad that I'm making this review. I don't know if it's the pandemic, shortages, etc but the food, the steak, specifically has recently made me and my husband sick for two days. This is actually the 3rd time in the last 7 months that their food made us sick. My husband had a steak chimichanga and I had steak flautas. I thought it tasted slightly bitter but kept eating like a dummy. I don't even know if it was beef. I am officially done with this business. I pass by frequently and checked the Yelp reviews. One thing that seemed to be consistent were the flavorful steak tacos sooooo...since I'm always in search of a good steak taco, I decided to stop. Not the best I've had, but definitely the best I've had in the south suburbs and I've tried them all. Now I'm only speaking on the taco because that's all I tried. I made the mistake of visiting this restaurant at about 8 o'clock because I didn't feel like cooking. My order was simple I just wanted to leave tacos on a flower shell for my son. I had to visit this restaurant three times to get my simple order correct. First time they gave me corn shells I went back the second time they gave me corn shells with all the toppings had to go back again. My last visit, the girl said she gave me the wrong order by mistake! Of the three times I had to return, they didn't offer ANYTHING for the inconvenience, except a mumbled sorry. Do not let this place fool you by its name. This is one of my top 5 taco stops ever. At first was questionable about this place and coming from Chicago "Capital for taco's" I was told by my wife that I have to try this place and man she was right. These taco's have so much flavor. Meat has the perfect seasoning were it's not over powering the flavor of the meat. Every bite you take, the meat is so tender that it melts in your mouth and the freshness of the toppings complements the toco's very well. I have another place in the area that I consider my favorite go to...one day decided to stop here to give it a try. I ordered the Steak Taco with Cilantro Onion and Cheese. The steak is really good...it has a smokey flavor to it. Their sauces, both hot and mild, are really good...I want to order those by themselves. The only thing I would say is a negative (IMO) is the cost 3 tacos $10 range and no multiple taco "package" specials. A family will spend a nice penny. Mixed Feeling: Food-Good Pricing-Unethical Food--I really like their food, caveat I have only had their burritos, chimachanga, steak tacos and tortas. I start noticing the price they charge was different than the menu. When I first mentioned this the cashier said their prices changed and haven't updated the menu. Okay, not right but that can happen. Fast forward six months, again noticed the price(which you only see if you ask for receipt) was again higher. When I approached cashier, he had the same 'stock answer'. To make things worse, the correct price is on the receipt, but they MANUALLY add an additional generic charge to your receipt and hope you do not notice. I love this place. LOVE IT! They have the best tacos in the entire South 'burbs/NW Indiana area. It's an unassuming little storefront which the owners have recently redone. This is one of those great family run places with no pretense and nice people. They have a small walk-up counter where you order and two stools along the window to eat and that's it. But don't be fooled by the sparse accomodations...they're making some really good food. I could go in depth about all the things I've tried, but it would take too long. I'll summarize as best I can. Whether it's steak, chicken, pork it doesn't matter. They rub it with spices, grill it open flame style, and serve it with awesome smoky flavored beans and rice that doesn't stick together in clumps. The flavors are just incredible and if you love good salsa/hot sauce then you need to stop reading this and go right now. They make it right there, using guajillo chiles, and it is so good words don't do it justice. You could cover anything...old shoes, your tv remote...in this stuff, and it would put a smile on your face. Great place to grab a burrito, also great place to watch soccer matches Aside from the really odd table arrangement, the food is tasty, the wait staff is young and extra helpful, prices are reasonable, salsa will clean out your sinuses, and best of all I was able to watch world cup matches here! Two really cool things I liked; they have a small display at the counter where you can buy a number of different bakery and packaged items. So it is also a place where you can stock up on some of your favorite mexican candies, pastries, etc. The second thing, and I don't want to start an argument with this review about "authenticity", but I think it is pretty cool that customers can order french fries with their burrito. I know, to most people, that might seem sacreligious, but I find it really interesting... its like we are watching evolution take place right before our very eyes. Mexican food is adapting to suit American tastes, it is becoming its own artform. Especially, Mexican food on the low end... not sit-down fine-dinning Mexican food, but corner taquerilla food. I feel this type of establishment is the entry point for any immigrant coming to the country who wants to open a family business. I am very grateful that the word "authentic" isn't on the sign outside because when I asked what kind of cheese they use, they told me mozzarella! COME ON NOW! !!! The only type of cheese that should be used for anything Suiza is chihuahua cheese.
