First time trying Fat Burrito - they have a large menu - prices seem affordable - and I was not prepared for the amount of food you receive...it was definitely a hearty portion. I ordered the Tostada Steak dinner - it comes with rice and beans - which were great. I also added some chips and salsa. The chips are plentiful and the salsa is in a smaller size cup, but it's very tasty. I also received a small container of some sauces - one hot and one green. It wasn't hot. Loved everything here. Tostada's are hard sometimes, because if they get soft, it's hard to eat them. The container fit two but the third one was wrapped in foil. Cinco de Mayo I invited my daughter to meet me at Fat Burrito in Highland. I was a little hesitant because I had been there with my two grandchildren previously. I went there because a coworker suggested the steak burrito , but I think he just orders it for pick up . The food was fair , but the service is slow and very inexperienced. Cino de Mayo my daughter arrived ahead of me all the tables were taken when i arrived my daughter should have been next in line . The same young waitress that waited on me a few weeks before was cleaning the next available table . A lady walks through the door past us and straight to the young waitress then she gives the booth to the lady. I am not blaming the waitress she is young and inexperienced, it is the manager and the owners for not making sure the staff is trained properly. Back in 2010 I visited Mexico city , if a restaurant is going to be called Mexican then you as the owner would want to bring the romance of Mexico city into your place . No matter how big or small hiring a hostess/ waitress that is friendly and experienced will make a customer come back . Tried Fat Burrito for the first time. They have patio seating which was great since the weather was warm. The service was good and the basket of chips and salsa were very tasty. I had a steak burrito which was good but I would have liked some other salsas or sauces to have been served along side. The girlfriend had the taco salad which was excellent. This place does a decent burrito. In my case, I ordered it with chorizo and thought it was fine but nothing extraordinary. We did also get the guac and chips and I will say their guac was pretty darn good. Definitely an option for us going forward. read more

I visited here because I had just the massage place behind it and was starving. Margarita looked unappealing and it separated quickly but was $16 so I finished it. This is one of your "run of the mill" Mexican restaurants that offers a good selection of food, but still sits in the middle of the road. Their burritos are as advertised! Massive, filling & decent priced! There was nothing really special about them other than their size. (I ordered the 16") For a quick burrito fix after a night of throwing back beers with friends, Fat Burrito gets the job done. On our 2nd visit, I ordered the Chile Relleno Dinner, one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I was pleasantly surprised! Instead of serving it with the traditional red sauce, they put sautéed onions on top, giving it a sweet flavor. Unexpected, but well worth it! The beans & rice, however, were nothing to write home about. They were your typical, pre-made variety which left me with that feeling of "meh." I do have to compliment the staff! They were super nice & very attentive! It looked like they were pulling triple duty to, having to wait tables, bus & be cashiers! With all that going on, they held it together! Now for the "not so good." The layout & atmosphere of this restaurant is pretty bad. While sitting there, I felt like I was in a hospital waiting room. The walls were painted a dark maroon & grey with matching booths. If they didn't have a random piñata hanging in the corner, you would never know that you were in a Mexican restaurant. Also, it's a really bad idea for a restaurant that prides itself on massive burritos to put the register on the opposite side of the exit. People are walking through the dining area constantly to pay & leave. With a stomach full of burrito & beans, that's a recipe for disaster. We were hit with a few "drive by's" by the end of our dinner. Overall, this place is decent enough for me to go back to. The food is inexpensive & good, but not spectacular. I went to eat here a month ago and your food was fantastic. I thought the meat tasted fantastic and everything was prepared perfectly. Today I ordered the same thing and the food was awful. I asked that there be no onions and lettuce on my tacos yet when I got them I had to pick through my food to get all the onions out. The meat was okay, but was nothing like before.
