Tacos - Asada, Pollo, and Pastor
    Dany B.

Do yourself a favor and order their Pastor and Asada tacos with Cilantro and onion, and ask for some fresh lime wedges on the side. AMAZING flavor, cooked to order in a great family friendly atmosphere. We also tried the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. Yummy. I would shy away from tamales, because they were dry. We will definitely come back here.

Your new go-to restaurant for Tacos and Sopes!  Please check out my review

Go JUST for the tacos and sopes! I first found out about this little hole in the wall restaurant when I was driving around Oak Lawn looking better tasting Mexican food (La Playita on 87th and Pulaski had disappointed me for the last time). From the outside, it looks like another typical mediocre Taqueria, but I thought what the hell, give it a chance. Their tacos and sopes are delicious!! The tortillas are made from scratch, and the meat is perfectly seasoned and juicy. Their tacos do not need to be topped with anything other than cilantro and onion. The sopes are fried until crispy on the bottom and then topped with your choice of toppings. When you add the salsa and bite in, you get a crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside mouthful that has you begging for more. Their gorditas, tortas, and quesadillas are great as well. The rest of their food is mediocre and doesn't blow your mind. I would not drive out of my way to eat their rice, beans, guac and chips, or any of their dinner plates. The milkshakes are a hit or miss depending on who makes it and the flavored waters are just okay. The restaurant displays a neon sign that says "Tamales" on their window, and I thought that might be their specialty, but nope! If you want good tamales, go to 26th and Pulaski intersections, and you will find some of the most delicious homemade FRESH tamales in Chicago, but NOT here. This restaurant's tamales are small, with minimal filling, and tasteless. A PERFECT EXPERIENCE AT EL TACO SABROSO #2: Order 1 taco of your choice, 1 gordita to share, and definitely one of their delicious sopes to hog for yourself. Then order a Sangria Mexican soda to compliment your delicious, mouth watering food. Go at night, and you may be able to get a booth in front of a TV showing entertaining Mexican soap operas. Perfect chill night.

Chicken and pork tacos , and delicious guacamole for $3.50!

I stumbled upon this little taqueria on my way home from Midway airport, when I had a severe craving for tacos and guac. This place hit the spot - a delicious, cheap and fast meal that you can't beat! I had two tacos - chicken and pork - they were very flavorful and the meat was good quality (not at all fatty). The tacos were perfectly simple served with cilantro and onions OR lettuce and tomatoes, and double corn tortillas. They were only $2.10 each! The guacamole was also delicious and only $3.50 for a very generous serving. They also serve you complimentary chips and 3 types of salsa. Last but not least, the staff at this place was super friendly and kind - I will definitely be back anytime I drive to midway around lunch or dinner time!

El taco sabroso has got some good things going for them. First off they are reasonable in their prices. Not only that but they do not seem to skimp out because of their low prices. I wasn't expecting to get such a large container of rice for only 1.60! Next, as a tamale addict I had to of course order one. I got the pork, and was not super impressed by the flavor. However what I did like was that it seemed pretty fresh, no dried out edges here! The chicken and pastor tacos were pretty flavorful though. Finally they gave us 2 red sauces, 1 green, and a pico de gallo without even asking. There have been some other places in the area I have had to practically beg for hot sauce so that was nice. Overall I enjoyed their food and I shall return!

Prices are double what shows online, so just be aware when ordering. Food is good, just overpriced.

This isn't just plant-based food -- it's thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with real love. I had the fish tacos (yes, vegan -- and absolutely convincing), the corn ribs, mushroom sandwich, truffle fries, mushroom quesadilla, horchata, and Jamaica. Not one miss. Every single item was a hit. The flavors are layered without being heavy. Comforting without being greasy. Satisfying without the crash. You leave feeling full but light -- the kind of meal where your mouth, your stomach, and your health all say "thank you." If you go, honestly? Do yourself a favor: order a sandwich and a drink. Sit with it. Taste it. Let it speak for itself. This is the kind of place we need not just to survive, but to thrive. You can feel the family behind it. The mom. The owner. The care. The pride. The love is truly in the food. Oak Lawn is lucky to have them. Go hungry. Leave grateful.

Corn "Ribs": Yeah more corn, just one look and you're hooked before ya try them. The crema and Coco Salsa are a perfect addition to this delicious and beautiful dish. "Calamari": What? Huh? Coconut meat? Okay, I'll try it. What in the world is going on in this place?!! My mind is blown, what just happened?!! The taco itself was also delicious. Flavorful rice and guac nicely complement this dish. It's a must have. Dessert, lol, just had to squeeze more food in..... Wife had a Chocolate Concha. Usually concha's come up short for me, but not at this place. I took a bite :) They just don't miss. It was delicious. It was finally time to waddle out of there. In closing..... The owner is always amazing and there all the time, super friendly. Actually remembered us and what we ordered last time! Food is always consistent, the quality is top notch, portions are big, food is beautifully presented and you can tell they care about it. Just look at all the photos on yelp, the meals are always presented the same. You can see what your gonna get and actually get it! You need to realize you're at a real special place, you are NOT going to get this food anywhere else. So treat yourself, splurge a little, you're not gonna regret it. Thank you Abuelita Coco for NOT making miss meat or dairy when I go there. So much love for this place, just wish it was closer to the city. Maybe someday, one can only wish.

I understand avocados are pricey, but $12 for guacamole felt excessive. My $15 margarita was also a letdown--it wasn't shaken, and if you're someone who enjoys a good cocktail, you can absolutely taste the difference. For that price, I expected better. There is a lot of local Mexican food competing with this restaurant, but we found their offerings to be unique and made with love. Bottom line, We will return. Room for improvement: * There is an intrusive flashing light that was visible from most angles inside the restaurant. We sat far away and it was reflecting dramatically off the window across the street. Beware, for the sensory overload sensitive. * In contrast to other reviews, we did not love the Margaritas. Very sweet, no freshness or lime flavor in the 'classic' just sweet and sour mix vibes. We continue our search for sublime Margaritas.
