Everything we tried was delicious from the guacamole to the drinks and entrees. The service was good and the prices are reasonable. This place is a gem! read more

Great burritos (much better than bueno y sano, in my opinion). Very nice and friendly staff. I get burritos from here to go very often.

Good, cheap, friendly and plentiful. All that you'd want in a small family run restaurant. It's across the street from the always crowded Mission Cantina so I'm sure El Comalito enjoys their overflow. But they are a fine choice anytime whether or not Mission Cantina is busy or not. read more

This place is amazing. It doesn't have the "ambiance" of Mission Cantina, but the food is infinitely better. Cheap, friendly, good service, amazing, real (authentic) food. Don't waste your money fighting hipsters for elbow space at Mission, go here instead. read more

Today was my first time ordering from El Comalito and I am beyond impressed. I wasn't sure what my family would like so I got a bunch of stuff, a Philly cheesesteak burrito, nachos, fajitas, tacos, fried pork and plantains, empanada and churros. Everything was kinda pricey so I hoped for the best but didn't have any expectations. But wow, every single thing I ordered was cooked to perfection, flavorful, tender and absolutely delicious. I got extra food in case something was terrible but man was that not necessary. My kids loved their dishes and my husband did too. Not only am I completely satisfied with the taste and amount given, but I actually feel like the price is completely deserved. Great experience, will definitely be back. read more

Carnitas tacos are great!! Also had an order of the fried plantains that were very fresh and delicious!

A tasty addition to the Amherst restaurant scene, El Comalito has mexican food with a Salvadoran twist and great margaritas. We especially enjoyed the Nachos con Tinga. read more

I love this place!! The food is amazing, the prices are great, and the owners are exceptionally nice and trusting!!! Please support this restaurant, because I want them to be in business for a long time. They are extremely accommodating and their burritos are delicious--my chicken burrito was cooked and spiced to perfection and the sweet plantains are delicious. My boyfriend always gets the rice, beans and cheese burrito option which he loves and is $5.50. They have a good amount of vegetarian options too, and you get a free soda with every burrito you order. ORDER FROM EL COMALITO. It's definitely more authentic than Mission Cantina. You won't regret it! read more

Delicious burritos and pupusas! We have enjoyed excellent service, food and cocktails at El Comalito and would recommend this restaurant.

Great food, great service, you can't go wrong! After moving from LA to Amherst I was beginning to miss the authentic Latin cuisine offered at every corner in LA. Thankfully I came across el Comalito and it did not disappoint! From the Pupusas to the tacos, you can't go wrong! The salsa that was served with everything was delicious! We also really enjoyed our Paloma and Michelada! As a Mexican American I highly recommend! read more

I might have cried once or twice after moving here from the SF Bay area and being unable to find an even close to satisfactory taqueria. Thank god I finally stumbled across El Comalito. Not great for eating in (although there is counter space, so it's possible), but perfect for take out. read more

Consistently good, with a solid mixture of food and reliable, creative margaritas. Worth going out of your way for.

I was impressed to find a burrito place that was able to survive near the Mission Cantina. This place is strong competition for delicious food in South Amherst. read more

Strawberry margarita was delicious. Carne asada was great. Meat was very well cooked. Also got fried plantains on the side. I think I just found my go to place for Latin food in western MA read more

I had mole enchiladas that were delicious. Food served on real plates and service friendly and hospitable. Interior, clean and colorful and somewhat of an "authentic" feel. Wish them luck in their new venture. Only suggestion, maybe discounted specials. read more

Amazing shrimp tacos. Delicious homemade sour cream. Portions are generous. Will be coming back a lot!!!

Love Love Love. We just moved from CA and have been mourning the loss of delicious Mexican food. The margs here are AMAZING as is the guac and just about everything else I've tried. Also I think they're nicer than Mission Cantina- where ya the food is also good but service is whatever. read more

Basic, but good. Went there during odd hours, will likely go back for a bit more atmosphere. Food was good, better than Mi Tierra, but not as good as Mission Cantina. read more

Great and authentic food, a wide menu selection, and very good service! Will be returning for sure! I recommend the tacos al pastor

This place is awesome! The absolute most delicious food anywhere. Papusa are so delicious I often tell friends "they are like grilled cheese on crack!" Meaning they are very addictive. My son loves the tres leches cake and the chicken enchiladas. I've never gone wrong here & I eat here often. It looks like a little hole in the wall but with a newly expanded dining area it is great for eat in or take out! I just know you'd love it too. read more

I have been living in the area for about 4 years now and didn't come to El Comalito until recently. This whole time I was missing out on one of the best restaurants in town. The staff is so welcoming and the food is freshly cooked. If you want some authentic Salvadorian food you must try El Comalito! read more

El Comalito - Pupusas are a most if you come to El Comalito! - Mexican Near Me - Amherst, Massachusetts

El Comalito has become another "Go To" place for excellent Mexican food. I'm a fan of La Veracruzana(best salsa bar in the valley..Diablo is *****) and Bueno y Sano, and can now add this great place to the list. I can't eat at our Chipotle anymore...rice has been way undercooked and food NEVER seems to be hot...just warm... Comalito is the real deal...the food is tasty, their Chipotle salsa is very good, the people are nice, and they're always fast. I recommend grabbing a great tasting burrito and wandering into the Moan and Dove, to wash it down with some lovely suds! read more

Went there to try it out since i live down the street and i stood at the counter for 15 minutes and no one even aknowledged me. I left. Thats just not good business. read more

We went in and at first was very happy with all the beautiful changes. But.... Our waiter took forever. He gave my 7 year old an alcoholic drink. He told me the Verde sauce is what the chips and salsa came with. He told me it would be $3 more if I changed it. :( I notice on the way out too....someone else order the same thing, and the got Pico degio sauce. I was not happy. The food for the price didn't match. The food is now way over priced. No good anymore, sad to say. ..... read more

Very enjoyable meal of perfectly cooked cheese enchiladas with the best mole sauce this side of the Rio Grande. Perfectly efficient and friendly service. Being so close to Mission Cantina is tough, but I cracked the code! Mission is perfect for eat in and this place is perfect for take out. You can even take you food to Moan and Dove! read more

I got delivery and it was pretty good! My boyfriend got the burrito and said he liked it a lot and it was so big he could eat more later that night when he was hungry. I got the pupusas. The best one was the beans cheese and pork, or the jalapeño with cheese. And the dipping sauce were really good as well as the guac. I was quite satisfied. read more

The steak in my burrito was pretty good, but all the other stuff was very bland. The guac wasn't too bad either. My fiancées chicken burrito was also very bland. We needed our own salsa to give the food flavor. Employees were nice, but it's carry out only so not a big factor. read more

This place is great, hands down the best in the valley. The deals are fair and the quality of the food is outstanding. I've ordered a burrito with carnitas and it was done in just minutes and packed with a very liberal amount of carnitas - they don't skimp out. Highly worth the drive. read more

Excellent food! Got the steak burrito and my gf got the shrimp burrito. We fell in love with this place right away. Friendly staff and the atmosphere is great. read more

Great burrito, yummy salsa and fab guacamole. Tucked behind a gas station in a half hidden building. Well worth the effort!

You can tell the quality of food just isn't there, they could use some fine tuning. Very colorful place. Gets overflow business from other packed resturants. read more

I went to this place as a pit stop when traveling with my boyfriend. I had the chicken burrito with guac and he had the chicken tacos. The food was very flavorful and filling. It is reasonably priced for the amount you get and puts the chain restaurants to shame. If you are ever in the area this would be a great place to get some grub! read more

Great food and friendly service, great spot to hit if you want to avoid the long waits at mission.

I came to this restaurant for the first time yesterday. I was amazed by how good the food was. It took everything in my power not to come back a second time that day. I can't wait to come back again! The young man working the cash register was so friendly and had a genuine smile. My friend and I ordered and split: Chicken Enchiladas with Mole and Salsa Verde Plantains Horchata Everything was on point, easily one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Thank you! read more

Sorry to say we have had several not so great experiences here lately: messed up orders (wrong items, items left off order) as well as food quality and taste issues. Last time we had burritos there were maybe 3 small pieces of meat in the whole thing. Very disappointing as this had become our go-to place for Mexican food. People manning the phones need to be trained better. We are taking a break after consistently experiencing issues with our last 3-4 orders. read more

Good food, though watch out the chips are not free - added an extra $9 to bill for 2 baskets

Love this local place for good food: burrito, quesadilla and a whole lot more. Super easy for takeout, expanded seating for dine in. Good and super friendly staff who make great food. Mission across the street is good but this is down home good cooking. read more

Although I'm a big fan of nearby Mission Cantina, I was pleasantly surprised to get a fantastic and more authentic Mexican restaurant just around the corner. Add the El Salvadorean menu highlighted by the Papusas and you have the makings of a fantastic and unique restaurant for this region with quality flavors and ingredients. I'm a fan and will be returning often. read more

Came in to this relatively empty restaurant to order a veggie burrito to go and came home to realize they gave me, a vegetarian, chicken enchiladas. My friend had a couple bites to see if it was vegetarian and when she realized it was chicken I called to bring it back and exchange the order. They told me to come back and when I brought back the food I asked if I could keep the wrong order for my friend since they would have to throw it out anyway and it was a waste of food. They proceeded to say "no, are you kidding? This is your fault" when they gave me the wrong order. When they brought out the burrito it was about 4 inches long and at that point I just asked for my money back due to the service and the size of the burrito for $9. They took 10 minutes, while talking among themselves while rolling their eyes, to get me my money back. My friend called to complain about my experience when I got back home and it turns out the man who told me it was my fault and gave me the wrong order and talked about me rudely in front of me was the manager. Horrible service, horrible management, horrible business, overpriced small portions of food. Don't give them your business. Try Mission Cantina across the street instead! (I swear I don't work there just great people great food great drinks great service). read more

I have had to resist the urge to give this place 1 star. The food itself is average. Amherst definitely has better mexican food. The service is really poor. The restaurant closes at 9 and when I say closes, I mean they will rush you out of there at 9 sharp! Our server interrupted our conversation at 9:03 pm and asked us to leave. read more
