We were able to find parking with no issues. We were greeted and seated immediately. Service was perfect. Our server gave great recommendations for us and they were spot on. Our food came packed with flavor, so much so that I stuffed my face and didn't leave any to bring back. The drinks were good I ordered the Margherita (mango) with grand marnia and tequila. I would return for good authentic food with good company.
This restaurant was good! We went in a huge group and the service was great. We got nachos, and I got a quesadilla for myself. It was huge servings and the food overall was good, a few people got tacos with cold crumbly corn tortillas but otherwise it was nice! The drinks were very strong but delicious. I would recommend if you're in the area looking for a fun vibe.
I'll be honest, we tried this place a few years back. We really were not happy with it. The food was not so good. The Service was angry. But wandering around, we chose this place again realizing when we pulled up, we had been there before. But this time the platter pernil with yellow rice and tostones was good. the alcapurria was very nice ..we got some to go. Nice turn around with the food and the people. We gave it another chance, you should too.
The vibe is mellow and relaxing. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're a little bit Saint Lucas, but somewhere in Mexico on the ranch. I love the spin on how they have everything so Meadows has ceiling lights. The vibrant colors they have in the actual restaurant itself is perfect. The food is delicious.
Very good food. Guac was great, and the shrimp, steak and chicken nachos, too. Also, the chicken mole sauce was very good, but the chicken itself had a weird bite/texture when chewed. Drinks, however, were awesome, especially the margarita jalapeño. Initial service was slow, but, luckily, picked up. Large space, and big bar, very colorful and cool art on the walls. We also liked the sombrero and tequila bottle chandeliers. Music and singer were very good, too. Recommend this place, would come again.
3.5 stars, but with the ambience of a fun karaoke night-- 4 stars. Casual, fun, and good comfort Mexican food. An extensive menu for everybody's whims- from the classic guacamole and chips to the crazy meat tower. All of our entrees were just 'okay.' The meat meant to be broiled and charred lacked flavor but it was edible with drinks and conversation. The meat tower we got was insane in presentation but that's what really made it a dish to order- just for pics. It is quite expensive so it was disappointing that all the meats weren't well seasoned and cooked. The lobster and fish skewers were very dry and under seasoned. Both cuts of beef were chewy and not charred. Cactus was limp and needed more seasoning and the chicken breasts were plain. Their drinks are strong and tasty, green tea shots were great, and their mangonada tangy and strong. Karaoke night is every Thursday and the whole restaurant gets into it, with tables ribbing and cheering each other on. Service is friendly and fast and efficient. If you are only here for food, I'd suggest going to another place but combined with drinks, friends and their food, this is a place I'd go to for a fun night out.
The place is very cute, street parking so beware of your timing you go. There is a parking structure close by. The drink we got was very good, 1 and done lol. We ordered the seafood combo in the pineapple because of a picture we saw on Yelp. Unfortunately they do not make it with the crab legs. More sauce calamari and mussels that's it!!! Not worth 34 dollars we asked about the picture this is not what we wanted. The made us pay for half of the dish we never ate!! And charged gratuity for 2 people. I would only come for drinks here if I come back. The decorations are very beautiful.
Where to go in New Jersey and get the fiesta vibe while drinking large glasses of margaritas? Come and visit El Chingon in Union, NJ. Colorful and vibrant ambience, it feels like you're transported to a different country once you get inside the restaurant. They have an extensive list of cocktails on the menu!And if you're craving tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, chimichangas along with your cocktails. This is the place to be! We ordered the el pastor tostadas $15 and steak tostadas $? and the pina colada $16 and the margarita curacao $20, plus two bottled water. Expect to have the gratuity added to your bill. Total amount paid $95.51. All in all, it's kind of in the $$$ probably just because we ordered the drinks. Now I'm thinking and wondering why it reach $95. I hope i wasn't billed incorrectly though. It's a fun place to celebrate just about anything in life!

I felt for the price of this place the serving sizes are small and overpriced. Wouldn't recommend for dinner but if you wanted to go for drinks then I would suggest this place.

We seat, ate and talked for a while. We never felt rushed to leave. Can't wait to go back.

We were seated and eventually a waitress came to take our order. I ordered sparkling water, and a can of club soda and a plastic cup was brought to our table. Some time later, our food came out. The chimichanga was fairly small and was mostly tortilla folded into itself and with only some meat. The food was edible; not horrible but not great. Neither of us were interested in taking home our leftovers. The waitress didn't come to check in on us until we were finished with our food, which is when we asked for the check. I know they're busy but would have been nice so we could have asked for straws and napkins. Strangely, gratuity was included for just the two of us, which wasn't a big deal, just weird and was only 15%. I still can't get over how loud it was. We will not be returning.

The service was terrible never going back worst experience I've had in years food was good but took forever they forgot my order also charged my card twice and also drinks are a miss my friend had chardonnay it was terrible I had a terrible mocktail watermelon margarita I wudnt suggest it. The bathroom doors hard to close the stall doors my friend had hold it close. The tiramisu took 30 min n it tasted exactly how it looked. Lesson learned read more

The service was poor not only did he try to coerced me to buy a drink and upped the prices on them. He didn't introduce himself and also had an attitude as well because we were paying with card and cash. He had an attitude that clearly everyone could see and ignored my questions asking him to come and service us. They also added a tip that was not deserved because he quite literally did nothing but have an attitude and roll his eyes. I've come here multiple times and whoever owns it now needs give it up. The food was okay came out pretty fast. Authentic but the servers are assholes. read more

Stay away! The service, the food, and the overall vibe. For starters, my party of 5 waited about an hour for v basic meals (flautas, queso dip, tostadas, enchiladas, and fajitas). I heard complaints all around about the food lacking flavor. Also, the service was terrible! Our waitress never came to our table to ask us how our food was nor if we needed any refills, etc. With so many other options for quality food in the area, I would stay away! The drinks were the most decent thing during our time here on a Monday karaoke night. read more

First timer, I loved the festive decor. It was exactly what I needed to grab my attention to the present moment. Service was a bit slow. Our drinks came out after our meal. Margaritas were alright. Food- amazing. They give you just enough where you are satisfied and if it is a party of 2 can definitely be shared(my hubby and I shared and it was perfect) Service-with a smile and answered any questions we had (especially regarding drinks) Ambiance-very cool, on Saturday nights there is a lady singing in mariachi attire, quite beautiful. They also have karaoke. Also the margaritas will sneak up on you. They are delicious and while you don't feel it while you are seated on the barstool. Wait til you get off. 10 out of 10 recommend. read more

This is my second time here and I enjoyed if. Weng with a large group for my sister's bday and the service as always was quick and good. The drinks are pricey because of the choices of liquor you get and the massive drinks they serve- they also have regular sizes. Ordered the octopus, it was tasty- and the t-bone which was a bit overcooked hence chewy in some areas ( we ordered Medium) we didn't want to bother the waiter so we ate it. Will recommend but it has not made my top list of Mexican food restaurants in NJ. read more

This place is alot of fun. Good strong drinks and fun vibes. The food was very tasty. We had the guacamole and chips to start, as well as the garlic shrimp and grilled octopus. The knock was the octopus was a bit chewy for my taste. I had the tacos (you can not mix) steak churassco, and she had the mixed fajitas. There were alot of birthdays this place gets loud. We were on a 2nd date, so it was difficult to talk. I would go back with a fun group. read more

Came here for some drinks with a friend. We sat at the bar and the menu had a huge selection to choose from. But beware that the prices are nowhere to be found. Some drinks are made for multiple people but it doesn't warn you. I got a mango margarita that was mediocre. And my friend got one of those crazy drinks with multiple shots in it. We only had gotten two drinks and two bottle of water and it came out to $109 including tips. It was too crazy for me lol. Overall, the atmosphere was fun, the bartenders are cute and attentive but the place got extremely warm and humid out of nowhere. I thought it was OK experience just too expensive and I wasn't too impressed. read more

The place is super loud as they had singer preforming that Monday . The bottom line is this place is a hang out for people who link to drink and snack on appetizers. This review is SOLELY based on the drinks!! I repeat, the drinks are worth it!! The food is below mediocre. Don't waste your $ on the food. But if you do, keep in mind that they're slick - they charge a la carte for minial things that SHOULD come with your meal. Specifically, the chicken flautas and the chicken tacos were both almost inedible. But i know myself & I needed to eat something to counteract the drinks. For example, i ordered chicken tacos - is it far fetched to think something simple like sour cream should @ least come w/my tacos? I guess it is because after the bar tender ASKED me if i wanted sour cream - i said yes - the bill showed a $2.00 charge for sour cream (and it was barely a dollop of daisy). Smh won't get me again!! The chicken in the taco was hurtfully DRY. Literally, it hurt to swallow such dry, unseasoned, flavorless meat. So, order the food @ your own misguided risk. Lol The drinks though - they deserve 5 stars. Strong and delicious. The margarita bulldog and the frozen drink that comes in the patron bottle - both are excellent and verrry strong. I'll be back for the drinks, and I'll be sure to come on a full stomach. read more

My boyfriend and I went out to eat and when we arrived we parked on the street nearby. When we walked in we walked into a packed house. They had karaoke and a lot of birthdays. We decided to sit at the bar and Marilyn was our bartender and she was great. We started with our drinks and I got the red sangria and it was tasty. For my meal I got the vegetable fajitas and my boyfriend got the salmon. Both meals were very good. I sang a few tunes off key while I was there but it was a good time. I enjoyed my time at the restaurant and would return. read more

I really had high hopes for this place given all the positive reviews but it was a huge letdown. Everything here was disappointing, from the food to the service to the drinks to even the price. It was a total of 3 adults and an 8 months old baby. And we had automatic gratuity added on to our bill. And we came on a weekday afternoon and had to wait for 20 minutes before the waitress even came to us. Throughout our whole meal, we had to constantly flag down the waitress to get things we needed and many times she was no where to be found. And everything took a very long time to arrive, including drinks and water. The food was really the most disappointing part. The guacamole we ordered was spoiled. The bistek a la Mexicana was overly cooked, dry and super gamey. The fish tacos were small and made from frozen fish sticks. And the flavors were lacking. Portion size was also very small for the price charged. The margaritas had nice presentations but were made from margarita mixs. There was really not one good thing positive I would give this place beside the new waitress that came on towards the evening time who was efficient and fast. I placed an order over the phone for steak tacos (3 in the order) and Jalea de Mariscos which was a combination seafood dish. The food took approximately 25 minutes and I got a call back because I was running late in picking the food up. The employee who called my phone to let me know the food was ready told me he would bring the food out to my car once I arrive in front of the restaurant. I pulled up in front of the restaurant. The establishment was so busy! I called to let the employee know that I was there. He came out and brought my food 5 min later. I took the food and tipped him. My daughter said the tacos were "okay" She was disappointed that there was no lettuce, taco sauce,nor sour cream. There was only onions, steak and cilantros on the taco. If the extras were something I needed to specify when I placed the order, I would have thought the server who took my order over the phone would have asked but he didn't. The seafood dish had scallops, shrimp and some other seafood in it. It was "okay" From the looks of things, I think this place may be best when you're going out to get a drink and you can sit down and eat. I definitely wasn't impressed with their takeout but I may go sit down in their restaurant one day and see what it's like to eat inside their establishment. read more

Writing an update because today they served such an amazing deal my mom and boyfriend loved it and he is not one to brag about restaurants. My mom said out of all the Mexican restaurants she had been to this one was the best. Everything from the frozen mango margarita to the flan was delicious. Thanks to Josecarlos for your amazing service today too :) read more
