Thursday special clearly states %10

food excellent but they don't follow specials. Says 10% off on Thursdays. Than they dont give you the 10%. Why post SPECIALS if not going to abide by them

Nice find in downtown Plainfield! I'm always down for a new Tex-Mex spot and really enjoyed my experience here. The servers were a bit busy so we have multiple servers coming to our table checking on us. The food was better than I had expected and I loved how they have a vegetarian section. I ordered the enchiladas with beans and cheese and they were delicious. I would love to come back here again!

My family and I were in the mood for Mexican and I happened to find good reviews on Yelp for Freppe's! There is parking in the rear of the restaurant, we walked in through the back and were seated right away. Cute little place looks family ran and operated with a party room upstairs. We started with the sampler appetizer and glad we did. It was so good and enough for the of us 4, it had wings, flautas, wings, & cheese quesadilla. My husband and I shared the Mocajete AMAZING!! Never had veggies mixed in the Mocajete, but to be honest it is a great addition. Portion is huge we both had lunch for the next day! My boys had the Birria tacos and chipotle creamy chicken and shrimp they were very happy with their choices. The only thing that was a little disappointing is the wait staff is more like teenagers so not very attentive; however, for the quality and flavor of the food I'll deal with it. If in the mood for some authentic Mexican cuisine you need to come here!!!!

I've always lived near Freppe's but only tried their food yesterday and I'm disappointed that I haven't tried it sooner because I loved it. Living in CA for the past 5 years I would like to think that I am picky when it comes to Mexican food since SoCal has some of the best other than in Mexico. But Freppe's is a great option here in New Jersey and not super Americanized like other spots I know. I came in hoping to order take out while I sat at the bar enjoying a margarita. But when I arrived I quickly realized it's BYOB and they DONT sell alcohol. I know for next time! I placed an order for some tacos and their quesadilla and the food was made in a timely manner. Our waitress was also very kind and sweet. When we got home and dived into our food I had the birria quesadilla to start and it was very flavorful. I had some of their spicy and hot salsa and YUM! It was very similar to what I've had in SoCal. The tacos were pretty good too. I liked the steak better while my mom liked the shrimp better but I love that they use double corn tortillas and keep the tacos very minimal. This was more than enough food for my mom and I and I'm excited to return again. Only thing to improve upon I would say would be the packaging of birria options. Our last quesadilla was extremely soggy by the time we got to it and wasn't very appetizing.

Great dinner spot! BYOB! - Freppe's Tex Mex restaurant features outdoor tables with chairs, a stone wall, and a brightly lit sign with a butterfly logo, set against a building at dusk.

So impressed! We had a party of 7 with a baby, they sat us upstairs and it was great. Service couldn't have been nicer- it took a bit for our entrees but everything came out fresh and delicious! The Tacos Michoacán (17$) and side of guac were very good! Also tried their combination platter No.6 quesadilla and steak taco salad (18$) Both very good! Prices are so reasonable- would 1000% return! Thank you for a great evening!

Have been coming here for years. Never a bad experience. Staff is always pleasant, food is always the same quality. The week end specials are usually epic culinary displays. I am sure if you want to pick, you will always find something. My meals today: Chicken Tortilla soup Mole Chicken ( their Mole sauce is one of the best I have ever had. Amazing

BYOB or a bar.?

I think they have a bar. I haven't been in a couple of yrs. At the time I did bring my own Sangria. There's enough liquor stores nearby to run to, if you happen to go and they don't have a bar

We sat at the bar, ordered way too much for two people, and enjoyed every bit of it. The empanadas, which are clearly a crowd favorite, absolutely delivered, and I loved that there were vegetarian options not just for those but across the menu more broadly. That made a big difference. Yes, it's crowded, and yes, you should think about reserving before you go, but the wait is worth it. The staff was also really helpful and kept things moving despite how packed the place was. If you're in Iselin, Jose Tejas is an easy recommendation.

So, I'll start off by saying we moved away about seven years ago. But back in the day, this was our…read morespot. We crossed the Goethals almost every weekend for the food and the fun vibe. It was cheap, but the price wasn't ever the issue, and super tasty. The mix of Cajun and Tex mex was wonderful. Was. We drove up to visit friends, and decided to stop for old times sake, get some of the camp town shrimp, and other tasty stuff we remembered. I'll start with the vibe. I've done some reading about the aesthetics of fascism and I wonder if maybe this is just the sign of the times we live in, but gone are the fun colorful Christmas lights and the rustic, carved up dining tables. Even the waiters look boring and professional and staid in their uniforms, I can tell they aren't allowed to display any uniqueness like they used to, because there wasn't a single tattoo or piercing to be seen. The bar? Don't even get me started. It looks like it's more fun at the local Applebees. All the people sitting there looking as miserable as the newfound aesthetic of the place What did they do to this place? All the Christmas lights are bland white. The whole vibe shifted. I asked the manager on the way to the bathroom if they changed the decor and he absolutely blew off my question and didn't respond. Maybe he was afraid to. Ok, so now the food, here's the chance to make up for the unfortunate vibes. Nope. The chimichurri steak was poor quality like shoe leather, with a serving of burnt broccoli. The camp town shrimp was okay, and my husband's salmon was also substandard. The menu had shrunk, friends told us they did that because of Covid. Covid was SIX YEARS AGO BRO! Fix your restaurant. It had sad "I'm selling it to private equity" vibes. Before you know it the food will be shipped in mass produced pre-prepared and frozen, they'll get rid of cooks, and the waiter will just bring it from the microwave, like crapplebees. What an absolute shame and I haven't wrote a review in years. I can't recommend this to our friends down south who go up to visit the NY NJ area anymore! I feel like I did a disservice sending anyone there, not knowing how far it's fallen. Shame!

The band walked around to the tables for song requests and would sing next to the table as well, really cute! My mom requested a song for my grandma, which made her tear, it was really sweet. Most of the staff seemed really warm and friendly, unfortunately not the same could be said from the waitress we got. She seemed to be pretty absent, didn't seem knowledgeable when asked about details on dishes. At one point, she accidentally dropped guacamole on a little girl's arm at the table next to us and she apologized once and walked away, leaving the guacamole on the floor and splattered all over her coat as well as mine. All other staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. On to the food! The salsa was really flavorful and the chips were fresh and crispy. I got the cheese enchiladas which were pretty nice. It came with rice and beans which ended up being eaten by my daughter. She got an order of rice and beans and the portions were quite big for just being sides which was really nice. Mom and grandma had soups which they said were quite flavorful. It is BYOB so all their drinks are non alcoholic which is cool for everyone. I got the lime Margarita which was very limey, very delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for some good Mexican food.

Literally everything off this menu is a great choice and I should know because they've fed me for over twenty years with absolutely zero complaints from this guy.   My work crew always looks forward to hitting up this place for get togethers and lunch meetings which always end up more like "Munch Meetings" most recently was Walter's 50 Year Retirement Shindig. Where we literally ate everything in site, LOL!!   As I already stated in my original write up it would be nice to have the option for some adult beverages like Mexican Brews or Margaritas but other than that this place always offers: Great Food, Great Service, and a Great Menu Come And Get Your Mex Munch On!!
