Pupusas revueltas
Cindy C.

Ordered takeout on Sunday and it was wonderful. I tried the Desayuno Salvadoreno ($12), which included 3 pupusas revueltas and a small coffee. The pupusas are stellar: filled with just the right amount of pork, bean and cheese, and served with a crunchy cabbage slaw and spicy red sauce. Together with the coffee, this was a filling brunch combo at a good value. When I walked through the dining room, I saw many patrons enjoying authentic lunch plates which included generous portions of meat, rice and beans. Their milkshakes seem to be very popular too! I can't wait to come back and dine in soon.

I love good Salvadorian food and El Nuevo Centro Americano is a great find. I have ordered from here several times and the food is always great. Our go to are the pupusas which are a traditional Salvadorian dish. They are a thick cornmeal tortilla filled with a variety of ingredients. My favorite are the pupusas revueltas which are a mix of cheese, chicharrón, and beans. They are delicious! My husband normally picks the queso ones which are stuffed with a mixture of cheeses. The pupusas come with a tomato sauce and pickled cabbage slaw. Mix them together and put a heaping on the pupusas. Trust me, you won't regret it. My reason for giving them 4 stars is because the delivery is SO SLOW. I ordered food and 830 and it didn't get here until 1015. It always makes me wonder if it is worth the wait... until I start eating and then I remember why I always order from here. If they improve delivery, I'd definitely give them five stars.

Order on door dash stuck at unloading place food was good decent would I order again if I was stuck there again yes . Good portions fair price. Good job first time eatting there

Top styrofoam: thick fatty skin removed from the "grilled chicken" (def not grilled, more like pan-fried in decent amount of oil)

Ordered take out twice. (Of note, it is listed as "El centro Americano" in GrubHub) -Grilled chicken (item 31, Pollo a la parilla): this js not grilled but more of semi-oily pan-fried chicken with soft, squishy skin (see pictures). I assumed I got the wrong order and then saw another picture of the same chicken. It also did not have any flavor. Don't recommend. -Broiled 12oz steak (item 29, Palomilla asada): bland. Don't recommend. -Quesadilla Salvadorena (item 113): delicious and the only good thing about my first order that made me want to give this place another try so that I could order this again. Highly recommend. -Fried beef steak (item 44, Bistec encebollado): the onions gave the steak better flavor than item 29(rated above) but it was still rather bland compared to usual Hispanic flavors. - Red snapper in garlic sauce (item 51. Pargo rojo al ajillo)- good flavor and large portion. Likely had that flavor because I explicitly asked for a lot of garlic in the comment section. Would recommend. Overall I would like to give it a 2.5. Although the quesadilla Salvadorena is very good, the majority of the food has been, not only underwhelming but, subpar. As of now, I do not recommend the entrees.

Just for service They didn't have elite which is the first picture you see on yelp. They did not have the drinks on their menu. I asked a few questions about the items on the menu and couldn't decide what to order and the server said let me know when you're ready. Which is fine but when I was ready another lady came to take my menu but not my order and ignored me while I sat at the bar. I tried to get her attention twice. Finally the lady who made my lull came back to check on me but by then i was very uncomfortable. I paid for my drink and left. I don't know if the food is good. And so I give 3 stars for the lack of a welcoming environment. They didn't have a lot of things on their menu which creates questions that the server didn't have any patience for. ‍

93. Bistec Encebollado

The bistec encebollado is not bad ive had some better but its a good amount for its price and the steak is super soft and not chewy. there was quite a bit cilantro through. all in all does taste authentic. the tortillas had a bit of a weird texture to it.

Not what i expected- this is not a baleada
Jay C.

I ordered baleadas and the tortilla they gave me was something out of shoprite quesadillas bag..smh i could made that at home. I want fresh tortillas.

Service was great . Food was fresh, well seasoned, and delicious. I ordered the Fried snapper with rice and plantains . Prices are expensive but the food quality is worth it!! Restaurant is on a Main ave so parking is limited.

The staff was friendly and offered great suggestions. Although it was very busy on Saturday afternoon, I was happy to find a few seats available with the background music at the perfect, conversational volume. I only came in to order coffee, but seeing all those delicious pastries and baked goods made me almost change my mind. There were several winter specials available, so I decided to try the dulce de leche latte. I really enjoyed it since it was bold and strong, but had a smooth, sweet finish. There were many tasty-sounding latte choices such as horchata, tiramisu, and the golden palms latte, which is made of turmeric. I look forward to trying one of those the next time that I return.

I ordered three fried empanadas (two chicken and one beef). they were okay - the crust is a bit different than I'm used to, but maybe the empanadas I typically have are baked. Also seemed to be more potato than meat in the beef one. The Americano coffee is awful. It gives mostly hot water with a hint of coffee flavor. I tossed it and didn't complain. Granted it's a cafe and not a coffee shop, but it's coffee! They have a plethora of other drinks that may be worth trying, but i will never order coffee here again. The decor inside is nice Also note, this is mostly a beverage and snack place. Very little food on the menu.

I called for delivery and here the problems began. Beyond some slight hiccups with language barrier, the guy on the phone takes my order and tallies up the amount to over $10 of what I thought it would be. I go back tally up everything on my end and call back. Again he says that's the amount, actually $0.25 more this time. So I ask what gives? I ordered off the website. He replies "oh the prices have increased on some of the things." He tries to go through what has gone up, along the way Naming things that aren't even on my order. I have to correct him and get that straightened out. My main issues with this is of course, update your website to reflect price increases, and 2 I could've canceled the order but I didn't over this, you could throw me a dessert or something for my troubles? The food comes after another hiccup from the driver being a bit confused and passing the building. I don't get a receipt because I wanted to review what exactly costed what. The delivery lady won't let me keep the copy she has. So there's that. *Exhale* so the food... It was alright. Not the best of an authentic level place like this. The pupusas were good and would consider again but they didn't live up to the hype I thought they would. The Lomo de cerdo asado (pork loin) was waaaaay overdone and all dried up. Rice and beans were fine though as were the salads Included with the entrees. Chicharrones was ok as was the yuca frita. Then there was this red sauce that was packaged in a coffee cup and tasted like that $0.88 store brand pasta sauce. Very watery. Not good. Overall I wasn't really impressed by the service and food. Maybe dining in is the way to go here.

My pupusas filled with cheese beans and loroco were very filling and the calabacita platter was the same. I definitely preferred the taste of the pupusas as the calabacita needed a strong sauce for taste so I ended up using the red and green salsas from the pupusas. However, even though I marked for utensils the restaurant did not provide me any. I don't know if that was a glitch in communications between Uber Eats and the restaurant, but it made it a pain to go hunting for plastic silverware at a quiet hotel.
