Pupusa De Chicharron y Queso

Very good Salvadorian food, friendly staff. Small location. Very reasonable prices. I always get Togo.

Amazing food. Amazing prices. Women working in the front were super nice. I also had a pupusa de frijoles y queso, & its the best ive had in Jersey. Coming back for sure.

Pupusas de revueltas!

Small family run place on state St. Super polite and nice owner with some kick ass food! Had some pupusas and horchata and both were fresh and well made. Clean interior with restrooms for the patrons. Truly a hole in the wall for authentic Salvadoran pupusas - that's all I was hankering for. Mission accomplished!

First time going to this place and I really enjoyed it. From the outside and when you first walk in it does not look like much but the food and the people really make up for it. If you love traditional Salvadorian food like pupusas, this is the place to go. I ordered cheese pupusas and one with cheese and beans and they were mouth watering. I also had a sweet tamale which was also really amazing. This is a good place to grab a quick bite and get great food.

With a total area of 21,041 square kilometers, El Salvador, which means "the Savior" and got its…read morename from the Spanish conquistadores, is the tiniest country in Central America between Guatemala and Honduras. Since it is so small, all the popular foods are enjoyed all over the country, from the coast to the mountains. Although it includes ingredients introduced by the Europeans, such as cheese and onions, Salvadoran cuisine still relies heavily on indigenous food, such as beans and corn. If there's one dish that defines Salvadoran food, it's pupusas. From the Nahuatl for "fat tortilla," these thick, handmade corn tortillas are filled with cheese, refried beans, or seasoned meats and then grilled until golden. Topped with curtido (a tangy cabbage slaw) and salsa, they are best eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Located at a strip mall on Passaic Street in Hackensack, Salvadoreño-Santa Fe is a great Salvadorean family-owned/run establishment. Upon arrival as a first-timer, I was greeted by the staff inside this cozy, casual, and clean interior with a handful of tables. The menu features authentic Salvadoran and other Hispanic cuisine. I decided on the Pupusa Loca Grande/Big Pupusa Loca filled with pork, chicken, cheese, and beans. There was a bit of a wait as my meal came out freshly made, perfectly cooked, and authentically tasty. The portion was generous, easily feeding two people; mine could have been for 4 and was reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and had a nice conversation with Cindy. Worth the stop!

I ordered a chicken and mushroom with rice, some pupusas and their carne asada tacos. Pickup was easy and the lady chased me down outside to make sure I got the plantains which was left out of the bag. It was super cold out so I appreciated that she came out in her t shirt lol. The food overall was really good, authentic and I think I enjoyed the tacos the most. The chicken and mushroom was tasty and the pupusas were good. I'm not s huge fan of pupusas usually but figured I'd give it a try. Really good food and not breaking the bank for dinner. I'll be back!

Stopped by here because we were passing through on a road trip and wanted something more…read moreinteresting than fast food or diner food, and what a good choice! This little homey Latin food spot felt like it came out of Queens NY and not a suburban NJ town. Service is pretty informal and the woman working when we went wasn't totally fluent in English, but she was so warm and we didn't have any hitches with ordering. We went on an off-hour on a weekday so they were apparently out of most of their entrees except for a selection at their hot bar, but the pupusas were still available and that's what I wanted anyway. I ordered a loroco and revuelta pupusa plus a baleada just because I hadn't tried one before. The pupusas were hot and fresh and absolutely perfect, crispy on the outside and oozing with cheese on the inside. They came with a little slaw/salad and a delicious red sauce that I liked so much the server got me a second bowl and I cleaned both up! The baleada was sort of like a quesadilla with beans and eggs rather than cheese in a flour tortilla, which was alright but the pupusas just blew it out of the water. I also had a bit of the bistec encebollada, which was tasty and tender and a super generous portion. The food was super affordable for the portions and quality, and they do accept credit card. Really happy we stumbled upon this place, and would recommend anyone coming through town or working in the nearby offices check this spot out!

Amazing Central American food (mainly Honduran and El Salvadorian)…read more 1) I got their hot food with beef patties with stew and rice with black beans. 2) The pork and cheese pupusas are amazing. Must get. 3) The baleada made with cheese, beans, and eggs were good, but unique. Maybe, not for everyone as the cheese is very strong.

Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar is a great option if you're looking for a sit-down spot for pupusas. I…read morewas pleasantly surprised that the pupusas were still reasonably priced for a full-service restaurant and bar, at around $4 each. They offer a good variety of fillings. My favorite was the jalapeño and cheese, which have a nice kick to them. The yuca frita was crispy but not oily, and made for a great appetizer before the pupusas. We came during happy hour and took advantage of the drink specials. The red sangria and margaritas were only $8 a glass and they were both strong and tasty, though I preferred the sangria slightly more. The music at Salvatoria was great and made for a nice atmosphere, with current Latino hits playing in the background. My only note, and it's minor, is that the curtido wasn't as good as I've had at other places. They do give you a good amount, but it lacked some of the crunch and acidity that a great curtido needs to balance out the pupusas. Overall, Salvatoria Kitchen and Bar delivers on food, value, and atmosphere. The bill for four pupusas, two drinks, and an order of yuca frita came out to just $45 before tip.

I was already kind of full but the entrees we got were also very delicious. I wish I knew how to cook fish or chicken that juicy but keeping the outside crunchy-crispy. 10/10 for all the food. Idk why but the music was so upbeat and it kept me feel rushed for some reason but that might be just me! Haha The service was great, the water kept getting filled and they were very attentive. Would definitely come back again!
