El Salvador has been around awhile and right in my neighborhood so I thought some good central American cooking would be just the trick on a non cooking night. I called for delivery and here the problems began. Beyond some slight hiccups with language barrier, the guy on the phone takes my order and tallies up the amount to over $10 of what I thought it would be. I go back tally up everything on my end and call back. Again he says that's the amount, actually $0.25 more this time. So I ask what gives? I ordered off the website. He replies "oh the prices have increased on some of the things." He tries to go through what has gone up, along the way Naming things that aren't even on my order. I have to correct him and get that straightened out. My main issues with this is of course, update your website to reflect price increases, and 2 I could've canceled the order but I didn't over this, you could throw me a dessert or something for my troubles? The food comes after another hiccup from the driver being a bit confused and passing the building. I don't get a receipt because I wanted to review what exactly costed what. The delivery lady won't let me keep the copy she has. So there's that. *Exhale* so the food... It was alright. Not the best of an authentic level place like this. The pupusas were good and would consider again but they didn't live up to the hype I thought they would. The Lomo de cerdo asado (pork loin) was waaaaay overdone and all dried up. Rice and beans were fine though as were the salads Included with the entrees. Chicharrones was ok as was the yuca frita. Then there was this red sauce that was packaged in a coffee cup and tasted like that $0.88 store brand pasta sauce. Very watery. Not good. Overall I wasn't really impressed by the service and food. We had lunch here today, a Saturday. There was an open table and during our meal, tables opened and filled in the relatively small space, but no one was waiting. The food was excellent. The complimentary chips and sauce was very good. We had an appetizer of plaintains with crema ("sour cream") and fried beans which was excellent and large. The plantains were sweet-ish and the beans were excellent. We had 4 different pupusas and all were very tasty, with the one filled with mozarella being relatively bland, as expected. We had chicken tacos (a plate of three) that were quite good-tasty and of a generous size. We asked for water as our drink and were given bottled water, and charged for it. The total bill for a large amount of food (ie. too much food!) was $33 pre tip. The lunch patrons today were mostly families ranging in size from 3 to 6 people. There were some who appeared to be workers on lunch hour. They were doing a fair amount of takeout business also. When we were not sure what an item was, a helpful patron told us. The only downside was the music that was too loud for my taste and there was a TV on tuned to a soccer game. (I prefer no TVs while I am eating). Went today for some pupusas to go. Service was horrible. They did not even bother to seperate/ label the pupusas. We weren't even sure which was which since it was a big order. The women working there were very unwelcoming and unfriendly. The pupusas were terrible too. They barely had any filling. In the second photo is all of the extra tortilla that had nothing in it. They were more like plain tortillas than pupusas. They were hard too you could tell they were not fresh at all. I used to come here a few years ago, used to love it, but they have really gone downhill since. Their pupusas got a lot smaller too. Will not be returning. Waste of money. read more

I had never had food from El Salvador before so I got a variety plate and I was very, very glad i did; the plantains, papusas, steak, rice, and eggs were amazing and so very flavorful. So my daughter just discovered pupusas and has been craving these delicious El Salvadorian specialty. As I always rely on Yelp, we drove 35 minutes away to this place. I heard the wait sucks so we called up for pick up. When we got home, the pupusas were still warm. We loved it! Almost as good as homemade, she said. The "Pupusas con todo" is definitely our first choice followed by the "revuelta". Hearty and filling. Their Tacos de lengua is so good, but the bistec is tough and dry. Pupusas were not oily, a plus. I liked the curtido, a hint of spicy flavor. The beets gives it a nice pink color. The frijol con Queso pupusas was flavorful. I live in East Orange and they delivered to my house. Usually, restaurants in Orange don't deliver to my house since it's so far (border of Bloomfield and E.O; so I was really happy they did. I got the rice and beans with fried chicken breast and leg while my boyfriend got the fried shrimp which was on a bed of salad. This was my first time eating Salvadoran food and I was satisfied. The food was really good, so good that my boyfriend and I ordered from them 3 days in a row lol. The only problem I had with the delivery was that we had to do it on this app called door dash which is similar to uber eats. Very good food and friendly staff despite the Spanish language barrier. Try the traditional Salvadoran pupusas. All varieties were delicious​. The small corn husk tamales with sour cream were also wonderful. If you're a tongue aficionado, the beef tongue tacos were tender and very tasty. Our table also sampled the fried whole tilapia, which was a bit dry, but picked clean to the bone by the end of the meal. In short, everything was good. Hands down one of my favorite Salvadorian restaurants. I have a huge family and we always come here for birthdays, graduations, etc. Everything on the menu is great. My personal favorite is the pupusas revueltas ! The skirt steak is also very good as well as the taco dorados. Prices are decent and we had a party of 13 people and we basically all had entrees sodas appetizers and the bill came out to less than $250! All the dishes were amazing and no one left hungry. Food is okay. But Being Salvadoran their pupusas are trash. Their filling looks like it comes out of a tube. It's more tortilla than the filling if anything. Terrible service I once tried calling and this bitch hung up on me. Then I called ordered she wasn't answering so I hung up, then I called again and they passed to some mean old hag who was making fun of my voice.
