Chill vibe. After a long flight and before checking into our hotel we craved some tacos and margs. This spot had definitely earned a five star review. Visually it's very appealing. Comfortable layout and spacious seating areas. Service was top notch as well. We had a a great waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Margaritas were good. I had the regular house margarita. The house made salsa was delicious and paired well with the fresh tortilla chips. Tacos were delicious as well. I had one al pastor, one carne asada, and one Barbacoa. All were excellent. First off...I went through "Happy hour" for cheap prices, you can be one of hundreds of sardines sandwiched half inside/half outside. If you are going for the drinks, I'm sure you can overlook it. IF YOU ARE VEGAN AND HUNGRY, this place was not worth the price I paid. First, I got the Burrito (honestly, I wish I went to Chipotle. They know how to make a good Burrito.) THE BURRITO WAS CRUNCHY. I asked them if they could make it vegan- best offer was stir fry vegetables with WAYY TOO MUCH OIL, the rice- for some reason, was made with butter. The spices used on the vegetables were SO STRONG (after I asked for mild spice) that I couldn't feel my tongue for 30 min after Eva finally took it away (she offered 2 times, I felt bad about wanting to send it back after 2 bites. I tried to stomach more and I got really bad acid reflux from the spice) she came back to the table and offered to take it away a second time (Probably because she saw I was almost in tears from how I can't taste, my nose is running like a faucet and very quickly questioning my life decisions leading up to this "FOOD") I ordered the veggie Fajitas next. Again, too oily, spicy- but bearable. I was once told "if the food is too spicy, it means they're covering up that they can't cook" for a whopping $37 I learned the hard way. The ambience was basically the bare minimum of what's legally passable as a restaurant. It had tables, an overworked staff that took 20 min to seat us, 20 min after ordering for food and 15 min in between to check on us. This place was overcrowded and way over hyped. Not going again. 0/10 wouldn't recommend. Even if I was starving, I'd walk 40 min to go to Chipotle. At least the burrito will be worth it. read more

The person at the far end of the table gets the same experience as the person who grabbed first. That almost never happens in South Florida. Here's what costs them: the brisket. I love brisket. I know what brisket tastes like. This one had an off flavor that's hard to pin down -- not inedible, just not right. Pair that with pinto beans that push everything into burrito territory when brisket is a BBQ protein with its own identity, and the star ingredient lets the whole plate down. 8 out of 10. Go. Ugh we had a really disappointing experience here. We flew into FL from out of state and arrived hungry for some real food. It was late and there weren't many places open, this was one of the few - it's open until 2am. We decided to check it out. We arrived around 1:20am, late at night, and asked to be seated. We were a group of 5. It was surprisingly busy here, fun ambiance, and lots of filled tables. A young 20-something crowd was primarily dining or drinking here. After asking to be seated, the hostess - Addison - looked a little stressed and said it will be a minute until she could clear a table for us. We said no problem. She told us, you'll need to put in your food orders within 10 minutes / 1:30am bc the kitchen will be closing and they're very strict with timing. We said ok and I asked to see a menu, that way we can place our order immediately upon seating. She handed us all late night menus. After about a minute, she said, unfortunately the kitchen will be closing at 1:30am, so you won't be able to order any food. We expressed our confusion based on what she told us just a minute prior, and based on the fact that she just handed us menus to look at, and she said there's nothing she can do, we won't be able to order food at the table, but she said we could order food at the bar by 1:30. But by this point, she was talking to us with such a sassy and condescending tone. I'm talking: YOU. CAN. ORDER. AT. THE. BAR. With glaring eyes. Wow. Okay. So we went to the bar to quickly put in our food order. After a few minutes, our family member went to check with the same hostess to see if our table was ready and she said she was clearing one off for us. After a few more mins, we went back to the hostess, hoping our table was ready after eyeing that the one she was clearing off was ready and clean. Hilariously, she told us with such a stern tone, unfortunately I'm unable to seat you because we don't seat anyone past 1:30am and it is now 1:38. We all were incredulous and flabbergasted. We reminded her of the facts... we came to her at 1:20, she told us to order at the bar so we did so, and now she's saying we can't be sat?! She said she thought we were going to sit at the bar. We continued to remind her of the facts, and the fact that she herself told us she was getting a table ready for us, and at this point asked to speak to a manager. The manager came and we explained to him what took place. While explaining what happened, he remained completely flat in expression (perhaps he was thinking what did we do?!) and while he apologized, his apology felt more like a "by the way" or an afterthought apology instead of truly and genuinely apologizing for the insanity of what took place and the outright horrific customer service we experienced from the hostess. He sat us at a table and a waiter helped us from that point on. From the receipt, I believe his name is Barry. Barry was actually great and frankly I thought he was better at customer service and had a more genuine apology for what happened than the manager. He's the reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one. So now the food. We got chips and guac. These were okay, the guac was a little too creamy but the chips were crispy so it was a fine starter. We got all 3 late night tacos. $3 each. Tinga de pollo, carnitas, and beef. They come on flour tortillas. They're all pretty mid and coming from LA where you can find $1 tacos from a taco truck that will blow your mind they're so good, these didn't hold up. Their ground beef one especially is the worst of the bunch, it feels very basic and like something someone could easily make at home. The carnitas was the only one I somewhat enjoyed. And I didn't like the flavor of the tinga de pollo at all. We got a guava habanero margarita, $6 on their late night happy hour. It was pretty good and had a nice presentation and color. I was surprised and frankly a little disappointed that the manager didn't take a single thing off our check. We only got two drinks amongst our whole group - one glass of wine and one margarita. And they were happy hour pricing. It would have been a kind gesture and would have gone a long way to have at least comped us those two items. Even if all of us got drinks, it would be the right thing to do to comp us something. I was expecting more. Clearly this place is still thriving based on its popularity when we were there, my guess is it's because it's one of the only places that stay open and serve food late. And the ambiance is quite nice. But the customer service we experienced, disappointing. The drinks are good, but the food is subpar and I wouldn't pay regular price for their food given its quality, I would only come during happy hour pricing. Though I was curious to check out more of their margarita flavors, the customer service soured my/our experience to the point where we certainly won't be back. read more

It was four people in our table and I ask for simple water with lemon to start, and the whole time I was there I never received a cup of water until I had to get up a get it at the bar when asked for the server name after they realized they messed up they refused to give me a name .. my food a quesadilla took two hours to come out and it was 30 mins after everyone's food . I am the biggest el Camino advocate!!! My favorite Mexican restaurant chain in south Florida. Each el Camino location varies slightly in ambiance but without a doubt the Boca raton location is my favorite! The outside bar attached to the happy hour area is incredible. And the happy hour and late night happy hour is the best that I've ever been to. For the price point and amount of food and drinks you get, it's so worth it. Even when not on happy hour, el Caminos prices are extremely reasonable. My favorite is the carnitas and barbacoa tacos. I also loveeee getting the brisket nachos for the table. That is so much food that alone could fill 3 people. The drinks are amazing! My go to is a spicy watermelon margarita with tajin on the rim. Half priced drinks for happy hours, can't beat it. El Camino will always be a staple when I come to visit Boca. read more

We came with friends for happy hour and have been to this location before. Our servers, Maria and Melanie, were both very sweet and clearly working hard. They seemed a bit understaffed this evening, as it took about 25 minutes for my drink to arrive after we sat down. We started with chips and salsa. El Camino absolutely delivers for happy hour! I went with a group of women on a Friday, and it was the perfect way to kick off the evening. This location of El Camino is larger and less "wild" compared to the location in Delray. Overall the indoor/outdoor atmosphere on a nice day serve as a great backdrop for coming here for a meal or drinks. It's what you'd expect for an American/Mexican restaurant so as long as you enter expecting that you'll be pleased with the food. Lean more heavily towards their drinks and you'll have a wonderful time overall. The portions are pretty decently sized and food is delicious. read more

Probably my favorite el Camino location. I love the layout of this place so much and I love the vibes! I've been here numerous times and I have never had a bad experience. Came here for happy hour yesterday (Friday) and sat at a high top outside on the patio. The weather was perfect and the HH is such a good deal. $3 tacos, $3-4 quesadillas, $6 margs. My friends and I had such a good time. Our server was awesome too. Recommend this place to everyone, especially during happy hour. Recommend getting there at 4 when it starts though if you plan to go on a weekend as it gets busy quick. I was in town with my husband for his job and decided to meet up with an old neighbor/friend for lunch at this place. It was a great decision because both the ambiance and food were great. They have plenty of indoor, outdoor and bar seating. We decided to sit at one of the hightop tables under an umbrella outside. It was perfect. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, burritos, and salads. I went with the taco combo, which offers three different tacos, along with rice and beans. I got the gringo, pork belly and shrimp tacos. I think my favorite was the gringo, and then the shrimp taco. My friend got the vegetable fajitas and they looked good too. I love El Camino. Point blank. It's an amazing taco place and the happy hour is always a favorite of mine. This location in particular is very fancy, alluring, and beautiful. However, I didn't even get the chance to enjoy it because I came after a late night out around 1:30 a.m. They claim to close at 2 a.m., so I figured I had time to grab a quick taco and a drink. When I got there, they told me the kitchen was already closed and only the bar was open. That makes no sense. You're a taco place. If the kitchen closes at 1:30, then the posted closing time should reflect that. It's misleading and unprofessional. I drove all the way there and came at what I consider a reasonable time before closing. Most restaurants will still serve food if you arrive 30 minutes before closing, so I was definitely surprised and disappointed. The staff was friendly and made a joke about it, but that doesn't change the fact that the hours are misleading. Please update your closing time so customers don't waste their time coming for food when the kitchen is already closed. read more

Served warm, a big thin crunchy fresh chip. Few types of salsa. One I didn't like but the other was great. Side of Guacamole was Excellent, fresh & delicious. Highly recommend. The restaurant itself is decorated really pretty and the Mexican theme is very classy. Lots of indoor/outdoor places to sit. When the weather is good, all the doors/windows are all open and wherever you sit it's feels like outside. The food is fantastic! All the typical Mexican dishes and also have ceviche and vegetarian options. They have homemade hot sauce that is brought to your table, so tasty. The forest mushroom taco is fantastic!!! So much flavor We also got the wahoo ceviches, simple and delicious. The fish was really good and thin slices of jalapeño peppers. The steak and shrimp fajitas was also great and good portion size! I am beyond disappointed with my experience here I've been here multiple times with family and I've been served and have had great times but my server jack specifically was terrible. He singled me out of my group and said that I was physically drunk when we all had had a couple of drinks and I was completely fine. afterwards I had to leave my group with one other person and we continued our night and got accepted into several different places. Wow I really enjoy El Camino! I have never been to this Boca location, only the Las Olas Ft. Lauderdale one so it was great to finally see it! They have a huge outdoor bar and indoor bar as well as a ton of seats and free parking which are all big positives! It was super hot out during the day but we decided to eat under the shade on the patio! We ordered the chips and guac as a starter which was great and then I ordered a burrito which they do so well here! When my burrito arrived I noticed it was not carnitas like I ordered and was some form of spicy ground beef. It made me quite disappointed and it was a bit too spicy for my liking. I didn't want to complain since everyone else had their food at the table, but I wish I had the carnitas like I ordered instead. I definitely would come back here! Our server, Anna, had great energy and knowledge and was extremely attentive. The short rib empanadas had a divine crust that had a perfect crunch and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The taco trio was beautiful to the eyes and the palate. An unbelievable selection of tacos to choose from! But there is a nice water feature with some benches and things in the square and some of it has shade at least at the time when we went. We went to El Camino for Happy Hour. There was a wait for Happy Hour tables that would actually make us miss happy hour so the other option was for "regular" seating. Either way, no Happy Hour. For reference, I got there at 5:15pm and happy hour starts at 5 and ends at 7. There were 8 people ahead of us for Happy Hour and the hostess said we would miss it since people had just been seated and there was a wait. So, we opted for regular seating. They sat us at a table along the wall. It's one long booth with various tables and reminded me of crowded NY restaurants. People could hear us, we could hear them and the tables were too close for comfort. The guy at the table next to us sneezed and I caught some of that. We were that close. The chips and salsa were my favorite. Fresh chips and home made salsa. Delicious. I had the cheese quesadilla. It's cheese in a tortilla...nothing special. My friend had the burrito bowl. It was good, just nothing special. Now, what was special was the Espresso Martini that I had. I asked them to add Baileys and it was off the charts yummy. I had the tequila version. The place is completely open and although it was a cool night, it got crowded-hence it got hot. The prices are fine. The Happy Hour prices are insanely low so I get the crown and wait but I've never gotten somewhere and not been able to partake in a Happy Hour during Happy Hour so that was a bummer. The service was good, not great but good. To me, this place is not bad but it's also not memorable. It's a glorified Chipotle hay serves alcohol. Nothing truly Mexican about it outside of the picture of Frida they have at the entrance. If you're looking for a franchised, over-rated American version of Mexican then this is for you.
