We came here for my birthday We wanted something close to home and somewhat not too pricey since my aunt was treating me for my birthday. Our server was Sara she was amazing! She was very attentive, answered our questions as to what dishes she recommended. The food was great, plenty of food, and good flavor. The dessert was amazing. The inside of the restaurant kind of reminded me of a dungeon in a way ( not complaining) I thought it was pretty cool with the skulls around the restaurant had a good energy to it. I really enjoyed this place

Everything was great today including our server Jackson who was knowledgeable and attentive. Surf and turf fajitas was served with generous portion of tender and perfectly cooked, medium, rare steak and nicely, seasoned shrimp. Korean barbecue pork belly made a nice taco. Tableside guac well done and their salsa Rosa perfect amount of spice. All with the great people watching of Mizner Park.

First time here tonight and the decor is pretty cool. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly and attentive. My friend got a frozen margarita and chicken fajitas. She enjoyed her drink and meal. I got an Al Pastor margarita and prime barbacoa enchiladas. The drink was nicely presented but I couldn't taste any tequila at all. The enchiladas were two of the tiniest ever with barely any meat and the entire dish was extremely salty. I would not eat here again, sadly.

Calaveras Cantina was a great place to go for Mexican food. We ate outside and the weather was beautiful. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with a great ambiance. Our server was very attentive and did an excellent job. The food was so good. We didn't take pictures of the chicken/ steak fajita that we shared because we ate it and then realized that we forgot. It did not disappoint. I had an Arnold Palmer and I had a free refill. So glad we found this restaurant!

Calaveras was AMAZING!!!! This Mexican food has to be the top 3 that I've tried in Boca Raton. I made a reservation for indoor seating as it was a Friday night. We got seated quickly. The interior decor was so elaborate and embellished. The seats were made of red velvet, there were beautiful paintings adorning the walls, and the chandelier lights were made of little sugar skulls! Elsa was our server. She was so kind and explained everything in detail. She gave us her recommendations for all of the food, which were all spot on. My friend and I ordered a few appetizers and shared everything. We got margaritas to start; I got a skinny margarita which was delicious. I loved the black salt on the rim, it was unique and different. We ordered the table side guacamole which was made with so much care. We got the mild version. It was absolutely amazing and extremely fresh. The tortilla chips were different than most chips; these were very crunchy with some bubbles & had a different taste. So yummy. We shared the short rib empanadas and the street corn which were both fantastic. Definitely need to order both of these as appetizers. The short rib empanadas were filled with meat and were so flavorful. There were 3 empanadas in the serving. The street corn came with 4 corn husks that were cut. These were SO GOOD!! They did get a little messy since you needed to eat them with your hands. They were covered with red flakes and cheesy sauce. 10/10. We ordered the barbacoa tacos to share which came 2 tacos along with rice and pinto beans. The beef was so tender and melted in your mouth. We got them on hard tacos. Honestly had SUCH a fabulous dining experience here and I will absolutely be back!!!!

Awesome spot for high quality Mexican food that rivals what you find in Los Angeles! The interior is extremely well decorated with a red and black dia de los muertos vibe featuring lots of roses and skeletons. It also reminded me of tattoos because of the font and art style used throughout. On Sundays at 1pm they have a mariachi band that takes requests and plays in front of your table. It is a very large restaurant that can easily seat over 200 with both indoor and outdoor seating, but keep in mind that even the indoor section is exposed to the outdoors since there aren't many walls on the sides. It does have AC blowing directly over the tables though. To start, we ordered the table side guacamole, which they make to your preference of spice in front of you. Our preparer wasn't very hospitable personally, but she did make a great dip. The avocados were perfectly ripe and the tortilla chips were dusted with spices, but needed salt to bring out the flavor. I ordered 3 street tacos and loved the tortillas they came on. They weren't uniform, so I'm assuming they're made in-house, but I didn't get confirmation from the waitstaff. Al Pastor - Classic street taco that had a lovely mix of sweet and savory. The crispiness of the pork added great taste and texture without it being dry. I also appreciated that the pineapple was truly ripe as opposed to artificially sweetened, as well as the finely diced raw onions, which didn't overpower the dish like you sometimes experience with large chunks. Spicy Korean Pork Belly - The best taco, full stop. It's filled with a big piece of chicharrón, not too meaty, but not too fatty either, that is caramelized from cooking down its brown sugar marinade. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, but the flavor was absolutely incredible. The kimchi added a nice bite and fermented flavor too. Cali Fish - The fish was well cooked and crunchy, but the meat itself needed more seasoning. The toppings and salsa with it were delicious however.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for some Mexican food because instagram made it look worthwhile. Upon arrival, we were sat right away (party of 4 with 1 high top chair) and immediately i was gravitated towards all the cultural artwork displayed. We started off with chips and salsa but also guacamole to have options. They make the guacamole right in front of you which is pretty neat and you can tell them how spicy to make it. If you like tequila, you're set because their menu offered endless options and even had super high end brands--if you're into that. My cocktail was super tasty (however i forgot the name) and I tried someone else's margarita and it was made just right! Moving onto food, I knew i had to get Birria tacos because they're my weakness and they did not disappoint! I'd love to come back to try another food item and even cocktail because this cuisine is right up my alley. The bathrooms were perfectly clean and our service was amazing here. I'd highly recommend if you're in the Boca area and want to go shopping or for a walk right after!

Everything went perfectly during my visit to Calaveras Cantina! I stopped in for drinks and guacamole with friends, and everything was fantastic. The vibe of the restaurant is on point -- a great mix of music, stylish décor, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. I had the coconut mojito, which was the perfect blend of mint, coconut juice, and rum -- super refreshing and delicious. The tableside guacamole is always a great choice. I love that they ask how spicy you want it and make it right in front of you. It adds a bit of showmanship and makes the experience even more enjoyable. I wish I had taken more photos inside, but I didn't want to intrude since a lot of guests were snapping selfies and enjoying the ambiance. I'll definitely be returning with friends and family -- highly recommend!

Enjoyed the lunch here. Our server was genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The tacos were delicious and full of flavor, and I especially liked their original take on the Caesar salad--it was a nice surprise. The outdoor seating is a great bonus and makes it a really pleasant place to eat outside. Overall, a relaxed, enjoyable lunch spot with good food and great service.

Such an underrated choice in Mizner! Calaveras delivered in the department of drinks, bites and ambiance. The espresso martinis were super good and come with churro in them. I always say you can judge a Mexican restaurant by the table side guac and this guac was some of the best I've had! Our server was also super nice and attentive even though it was a busier night in Mizner. There was also some sort of live music putting our experience over the top!

This review and rating is strictly based upon their happy hour we indulged in. I cannot rate their restaurant food, with the exception of one item we tried from the happy hour menu. We sat at the bar and were met by a really good bartender who mixed us a couple of the specials they had listed: the Jefe's Bourbon (for me) and a Blood Orange Margarita (for the better half). The mixology performed in front of us was a sight to behold in its own right, but the flavors of these drinks were even better (fantastic). I enjoyed mine so much a ordered a second one. The better half ordered a Korean short rib empanada, at the recommendation of another woman at the bar. It was fairly large, beautifully presented and tasted great! If we did not already have plans to have dinner elsewhere we probably would have ordered another one and a couple other items from that happy hour menu. The restaurant and bar areas were well decorated and themed out. This would be a place, should we ever return (we were on a Brightline day trip), to have lunch or dinner at.

Parking is street parking or the parking garage behind the restaurant. I didn't pay for parking. So I'm not sure if normally there is a fee. There are bathrooms on site The place was super cute and the whole area is really nice. Nice to walk around after I went for taco Tuesday we got the guacamole and its table side guac cart came and it was awesome but we had to ask for chips. They do come with it but it was just odd that the guac cart came long before the chips came. Drinks were good. And food was good. 3$ tacos on taco Tuesday. They were good but not like so amazing I will find this place for more tacos. It was a nice spot, and could find parking not too bad. But I wouldn't say it's the top Mexican restaurant. But it is fun for an outing and to hang out and walk around after or stop at after. A day of shopping.

Comfortable layout and spacious seating areas. Service was top notch as well. We had a a great waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Margaritas were good. I had the regular house margarita. The house made salsa was delicious and paired well with the fresh tortilla chips. Tacos were delicious as well. I had one al pastor, one carne asada, and one Barbacoa. All were excellent. Definitely had a great time here for lunch. I would love to come back for dinner.

If you are going for the drinks, I'm sure you can overlook it. IF YOU ARE VEGAN AND HUNGRY, this place was not worth the price I paid. First, I got the Burrito (honestly, I wish I went to Chipotle. They know how to make a good Burrito.) THE BURRITO WAS CRUNCHY. I asked them if they could make it vegan- best offer was stir fry vegetables with WAYY TOO MUCH OIL, the rice- for some reason, was made with butter. The spices used on the vegetables were SO STRONG (after I asked for mild spice) that I couldn't feel my tongue for 30 min after Eva finally took it away (she offered 2 times, I felt bad about wanting to send it back after 2 bites. I tried to stomach more and I got really bad acid reflux from the spice) she came back to the table and offered to take it away a second time (Probably because she saw I was almost in tears from how I can't taste, my nose is running like a faucet and very quickly questioning my life decisions leading up to this "FOOD") I ordered the veggie Fajitas next. Again, too oily, spicy- but bearable. I was once told "if the food is too spicy, it means they're covering up that they can't cook" for a whopping $37 I learned the hard way. The ambience was basically the bare minimum of what's legally passable as a restaurant. It had tables, an overworked staff that took 20 min to seat us, 20 min after ordering for food and 15 min in between to check on us. This place was overcrowded and way over hyped. Not going again. 0/10 wouldn't recommend. Even if I was starving, I'd walk 40 min to go to Chipotle. At least the burrito will be worth it.

Hi, I'm Glenn and I'm a mexican cuisine addict…read more... and I found my new place to get my fix... For years I have frequented a couple of local mexican restaurants; they were/are good but my eyes have been opened to Casa Tequila. Let me tell you what makes my appreciation of Casa Tequila... I have really enjoyed the other mexican restaurants we were going to for the past couple decades but the issue always come up when my wife and I travel to Mexico and enjoy authentic mexican food; arriving back at our local spots became a let-down because they were serving very americanized dishes (flooded with too much cheese and loads of unnecessary sauce. Casa Tequila is serving much more along the lines of what we have enjoyed in our many visits to various regions of Mexico; great balanced flavors and a menu with plenty of options. I don't normally go for the burritos but these burritos are the real deal (AND THEY ARE HUGE so come hungry)... try the "SUPER BURRITO" or the "ASADA BURRITO"; I've tried a bunch but these are the two I keep re-ordering. Recently I tried their "FAJITA TRIO" (fajitas with steak, chicken and shrimps)... it's a lot of food but leftovers always taste great the next day. Personally, we love sitting at the bar; the bartenders are amazing at making fresh margaritas (we always ask every mexican place to not use a pre-made mix... Casa Tequila hits the spot with amazing margaritas); although I normally have their flavored iced tea.

I ONLY REVIEW NACHOS…read more I came in expecting a Mexican restaurant to nail nachos. That's a reasonable expectation. Boy was I wrong. The Grande Nachos arrived in a ceramic dish so nuclear hot I couldn't touch it. By the time it cooled enough to eat, the cheese had souped itself across the entire plate and sealed every chip underneath in a molten tomb. The shredded beef was actually good. That's the tragedy. Good ingredients, catastrophic execution. The refried beans -- listed on the menu, credit for that -- were the murder weapon. Beans plus nuclear heat plus oily cheese plus ceramic dish equals guaranteed chip annihilation. What was left underneath wasn't chips. It was soggy, near liquid mush. The Fork Rule was violated immediately. I left feeling like my gut had survived a blitzkrieg. I went straight to Packy's just to forget what I'd eaten. This isn't a nacho. It's a deconstructed burrito in a ceramic dish. Someone didn't get the memo. 2/10 on the Florida Nacho Man scale. 1/5 stars on Yelp. Full review with photos at floridanachoman.substack.com
