    Sampling from breakfast buffet

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet all 4 mornings we were there! After our first day, the host greeted us by name. A couple of the days we had Angel as our server. My daughter needs to eat gluten free and although there were things on the buffet that were naturally gluten free, we asked if she could order things off the menu so they would be prepared fresh and hopefully free of cross contamination. She was in heaven - each morning she had gf pancakes and then she had chilaquiles, huevos rancheros and custom made breakfast enchilladas twice, they were so good! The buffet was amazing! All your typical breakfast offerings and then each day, the Mexican/entree side was different. Everything from grilled salmon, taquitos, gorditas, shredded beef, chicken mole, carnitas, beef burrito bites, mixed veggies, refried black beans, lentils, etc. They also had a chilaquiles bar with differnt kinds of yummy toppings - pickled onions, pico, sour cream, panela cheese, green and red sauce. They had the fixings for bagel and lox along with several cheeses and fruits. Lots of pastries and cereals for kids. A sweet lady was making french toast, pancakes, waffles and omlettes made to order. There was also delicious Mexican hot chocolate and coffee as well as a Mimosa and Bloody Mary station. I've had a lot of breakfast buffets and this was top notch!!

Tropical tuna salad with grilled pineapple (usually comes raw but I asked for seared tuna which was sliced and tasted amazing)

Absolutely loved this restaurant menu which was served in the lounge due to hurricane beryl. Kids loved their penne with butter and cheese or pomodoro. My husband got a zarandeado fish fillet that was just perfect and I got the tuna salad (tropical) and asked them to sear the tuna wowzers. It came with avocado and grilled pineapple. The service of the two gentlemen who worked round the clock for servicing meals that were centralized in the d lounge were just the nicest guys and so kind. Anytime we asked for anything they never failed to deliver. My kids wanted extra hashbrowns from breakfast and even though they were closed they did it for us. We loved this hotel and its restaurants but especially their service which is second to none. We will be back!

Buffet is on point! Chilaquiles with beans and cheese! Plus Cava Mimosas with fresh OJ

Good option if you're not trying to leave the Ritz property for breakfast. Side note: if you're staying here there really aren't that many other options anyways, so this is a good one! $36 USD for the all you can eat/drink buffet. I would say it's worth it if you're really hungry so you can really eat everything. Lots of great options! I was starving and also exhausted and had zero intentions of waiting for some of the nearby places to open. Also didn't feel like walking to Starbucks this morning. Some mornings you just aren't feeling it! And on mornings such as those, it's nice to have a buffet option with bottomless cava mimosas. Not to mention their OJ is fresh squeezed ( as it should be!). The restaurant is large with lots of seating and most importantly well spread out so you have plenty of space and privacy. I got a table by the window and as it was still early ( open at 7am and I do like to be punctual!) there weren't a ton of people. I started off with some nice OJ that kept getting filled up by the waiters. And I was totally fine and not ashamed that they filled it easily 10 times, it was that fabulous! They have a section of traditional American breakfast. Waffle station, omelette, etc. But remember! You are in MEXICO! And while I may be a touch biased, there is nothing greater in this world than Mexican breakfast. I did wish they had a few more options of Mexican breakfast, but they did have chilaquiles that were very tasty! They also had a lot of salsas to choose from, but I also go right for the good with the grilled habanero. The mimosa station is nice and I love that they have good quality cava. So I didn't make myself an actual mimosa, I poured myself a flute of chilled Cava and occasionally sipped on my delicious OJ. Sometimes we improvise! The service was awesome and I only wish they had a few more offerings of Mexican breakfast. I'm sure if I had asked they would have whipped it right up! But I was perfectly pleased with my two servings of chilaquiles.

El Cafe Mexicano In the Ritz Carlton Cancun

Lots to like at El Cafe Mexicano (open daily for breakfast buffet or lunch) at the Ritz Carlton Cancún including the service, ceviche, and hot chocolate. I didn't take advantage of the buffet, but did enjoy a late brunch and just about everything it brought. If you only eat one thing at the Ritz Carlton, I recommend the Yucatán Ceviche (5 stars) served with Frech Corn Chips and Crisps. It's also available at the Caribe Grill and from room service. Consider, it a perfect compliment to your beachfront vacation. A Torta del Sur with Braised Pork and Avocado (4 stars) on a soft Bread Bun was equally hearty and refreshing. It tasted like comfort food ... and it was. We missed breakfast and the brunch, but since my wife was desperately craving hot chocolate, the server and kitchen were kind enough to find, prep, and serve some. I don't know if it is on the menu or how much it cost, but it was worth it because it was warm chocolaty goodness and my wife was happy. As with anything at the Ritz Carlton Cancun, you should expect 5-star service ... and it's exactly what we found at this restaurant. Because of the stellar service, incredible ceviche, and classic hot chocolate, I'm rounding up to 5 stars for El Cafe Mexicano.

Exceptional customer service Donaldo, Guillermo are the best! Buffet for breakfast has a very wide selection of items. Excellent. Tinga and chilaquiles my fav

Somebody needs to be first to review this place so I guess it's me. Tucked away in the Ritz Carlton is an elegant yet very relaxed atmosphere with huge windows overlooking the ocean and sofas at most tables. Champagne brunch is why I'm here. Spanish Cava to be exact but it is brut and goes down splendidly. The selection is not large but it works. Most of the standards and a few Mexican dishes for good measure. If the buffet is not tantalizing enough they also include most of the menu to choose from. Steak and eggs for me. The view, the vibe, the service and the bubbles overcome the smallish selection and I round up to a 5 star rating.

In the past this place has always been a staple for us, but each year we go we like it a little less. This year majority of the group was disappointed in the entire experience from the service to the food. To start, the service was lacking compared to what we get at other local restaurants nearby. Our servers did not frequently come back to ask if we needed anything and we were constantly having to ask to get our waters refilled. The drinks are good, but nothing we can't get elsewhere. Half of our group enjoyed (but not loved) their food and half did not enjoy. My SO and I split the al pastor meal. In the past we have loved this, but this time it felt like they rushed to make it and the flavors we remembered just weren't there. It was still good, but I think it could have been better. I do love the churro cart here, but you can get good churros several other places. Overall, this place has gone downhill in our opinion, and for the price it isn't worth it when there so many better options close by. I'm sure we will be back, but I think we might skip a year stopping here.

I saw so many videos and read so much hype about this place. I was excited to try it. I was just as disappointed when I threw out my burrito after a couple of bites. The food here is not good. It is so basic. I ordered chili cheese fries, and a burrito. For the burrito, you have to complete a form for your customizations, which I thought was going to be efficient. Unfortunately, despite my burrito, having everything in it that it was supposed to, I was overwhelmed by the massive amount of onions. Additionally, I was underwhelmed by the amount of shrimp inside my burrito. There weren't many at all and the entire burrito literally tasted like nothing. I ordered the shrimp and mahi. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about it. For a second, I almost wondered if I had Covid because the flavor was so lacking. But after speaking to friends of mine who also visited, I realized that I wasn't the only one. In total, I spent about US$32 on an order of chili cheese fries, a jerk, chicken, quesadilla, and a burrito. Fries: so bland. I wanted to throw them out, but I saved them and took them back to my hotel and added salt. It helped a bit, but these were overwhelmingly underseasoned and lacking flavor. The portion, however, was huge. Two out of five. Burrito: more mahi-mahi than shrimp, and neither protein was flavorful. The entire burrito was very bland and was full of more onions than I would ever care to eat. The burrito wasn't OK size, but it did not taste good. Two out of five. Jerk, chicken quesadilla: basic. Not super flavorful. And the chicken did not taste like jerk chicken at all. It didn't even have jerk flavor. Didn't even taste like they rolled the chicken in a little bit of jerk before cooking it. Three out of five. The staff noticed that I did not eat much of my food and asked if I didn't like it. I informed them that I did not like it and that I didn't think it had enough flavor. They did not care. I didn't fully expect them to because I know customer service is very different in Mexico, but I expected more. She even asked if the burrito was too spicy, which was hilarious because there was nothing spicy or even flavorful about it. This is very much a hole in the wall, kind of spot that has been blown up on social media. Very casual vibes, and there appears to be a small roof area where you can overlook the street. I would not return here. I also would not recommend it. Another example of influencers likely getting free food in exchange for review reviews.
