Nice people and good service but I didn't care for the food. Chicken burritos were meh, not much flavor and no salsa. Husband thought the burritos were okay. Came back a second time and ordered the tri mole enchiladas with Mexican rice??? and they weren't not good. Rice was really bad!! I was hungry so I put some of their hot salsa on the enchiladas and put the rice in the mole sauce to try to make it somewhat palatable. Still not good. On the plus side the restaurant is beautiful. LOTS of beautiful living plants all over. read more

I loved my breakfast here. It's along a busy street so it has a buzz; but tucked inside of the cute patio oasis in the shade, but with dappled sunlight, you can hear the birds singing and the local music is a vibe. I got the French toast for breakfast and it was muy bueno. Soft bread soaked in egg and milk and sugar was like a breakfast custard. Wow ! What a hidden gem ! The shrimp tacos were awesome ! Around 9$ US dollars. The Mexican and healthy omelette were soooo good too! The guacamole was super fresh and the orange juice was 100% fresh squeezed ! The service was great too. The vibe of the restaurant is cool too. Beautiful greenery. The 3 of us ate for around 50$ and that's with 3 cocktails / 3 meals and a coffee. So not bad. read more

We stopped in again, this time for breakfast and jazz. I started with a Bloody Maria (Bloody Mary, but with tequila). The T was strong and spicy and perfect. For food, I had the omelette. Very nice. My wife had the fruit plate, with yogurt and granola. Also very good. When traveling we rarely go out for breakfast, but did so because owner Rafael told us about the jazz every Wednesday morning. We came off the ferry and rented a golf cart and headed straight to Green Verde for brunch and lunch. Kids loved their Nutella and banana crepes, pancakes and fruit and yogurt. Portions were big and prices are reasonable. Their ceviche and lobster tacos were fresh and tasted so good. Margaritas and other drinks were yummy also. Cute place and shaded on a hot day. The waiter/owner allowed by kids to feed his pet turtles. We would totally come back here again if we make it back to Isla Mujeres read more

We ordered the chilaquiles red and green with two eggs and the chicken enchiladas with a plantain mole sauce. We also ordered the crepes with strawberry jam very good. The sauces and crepes are made in house. We came in around 9:30 the service was great the ambiance was low key casual. It is outdoor but is well covered and fan we're on to keep things cool. There are plants so it is like eating in a pretty garden. The price for today with two coffees was 615 pesos or 42 dollars at an exchange of 15 to 1. It is better to change dollars to peso at an exchange for better rates than at restaurant or shop that take only cash. read more

Green Verde is a must visit on any Isla Mujeres vacation. The mole is fantastic, and the green sauce is also killer. The service is fantastic. I haven't been able to update all of the amazing places we've eaten on this island but Green Verde is absolutely amazing. Very attentive staff. Place is super cool and they have some turtles in a large pond/pool in the center of the restaurant. I had the shrimp mezcal. Highly recommend. The lady had the chicken enchiladas. She was extremely pleased with hers as well. The split appetizer of quesadillas was the most authentic and amazing quesadilla either of us has ever had. The habanero sauce was extremely hot and equally delicious. I'd include a picture but we polished that off straight away. read more

What a wonderful little place! We had breakfast here twice during our stay and the attention to detail and taste was greatly appreciated. The meals were beautiful and tasted excellent! Green Verde makes the best michelada I've had in my life. But you're going for the food, right? I visited twice. The first night I had the tampiqueño plate. Outstanding. The plate features a spectrum of flavors in the multiple sides to complement the flat steak. Last night I tried the tri-color molé. This was outstanding, as good as any I've tried in the southwestern United States. Do try one of Raphael's homemade, Green Verde unique Mayan-named cocktails with mezcal. I asked him about some of the secret ingredients, but I suggest you just reward yourself after a day of fighting back the supple electric turquoise waves at Playa Norte and just surrender. read more

You will want to get one to get here and try the amazing fish tacos and fresh guacamole. The ice cold drinks where refreshing as the fans blew cool air on us. It's off the main drag away from the chaos of down town. Come enjoy this nice little place while visiting, you won't regret it . read more

Green Verde! We miss you! Service is unmatched. I prefer a home style feel to restaurants and they made me feel right at home! My boyfriend and I came here 5 times in a week. He loved the tacos and I loved everything I tried. Mezcal Shrimp plate, strawberry smoothies, shrimp/chicken tacos, and all the drinks. Everyone there was so nice. Genuinely good people! Green Verde is a cute little cafe with mostly outdoor patio seating. It's located mid-Isla. We started with margaritas- tangy with lots of fresh lime. Next, the "special" drink recommended by our server, a maracuya (passion fruit) mescal drink. Chips and salsa followed- so far, all 5 stars! Next came the entrees - Tequila ribs and enchiladas (we went with the TRI-colores to sample 3 salsas. Folks, this is where the wheels came off. I'm gonna keep it simple, the ribs were jerky-dry, the enchiladas tasted ...they were just bad. All three sauces were a no-go. We know good Mexican food and have been impressed throughout all of Mexico. For this place, come for the chips & salsa and the margaritas!! Anything else, you can remember "I warned ya". read more

This was our second trip to Islam!Jerez and we also came back to Green Verde. Nice outdoor setting and perfect to watch all the golf cart traffic! We started with cold beers and their chips/guacamole/salsa. Both were yummy and had a kick to it. My husband and I ordered tacos - chicken and Al pastor. Yum! Flavorful, and fresh, we left stuffed! Reasonably priced; they also serve dinner. Hit this place up when on island! read more

I ordered the ceviche de pulpo -- absolutely fabulous. Husband and son enjoyed their chile rellenos. There was a vegetarian option for my daughter. Prices were reasonable. We ordered the chicken skewers to go for my youngest who wasn't with us. They kindly included extras of rice, beans, salsa, tortillas and cutlery. Only negative was the food came out at way different times.

I would've liked the actual meat of the fish to be more tender (it bordered on overcooked) but still I walked away plenty satisfied. It does have lots of tiny bones. Bread basket came with the most delicious roasted eggplant in oil, I could've eaten just that with the bread and been a happy camper. The roasted octopus was not bad but a touch too heavy on the sauces for me, I would've wanted more of the flavor of the octopus on its own. The potatoes under the octopus, however, were perhaps my favorite part of the whole meal. Everyone else seemed happy with their food - the catch of the day (with the fluffiest mashed potatoes) was a very popular choice. If you're sick of seafood, they have steak and braised brisket on their menu. Really cozy and romantic ambiance as well for if you want to dress up slightly. This place gets very popular for good reason; I liked the little bar counter they set up out front so you can watch the grilling in action.
