For breakfast I ordered the farmers breakfast, I requested scrambled eggs and was not given an option of pancake/waffle, it showed up with a waffle. My eggs were fried as opposed to scrambled, the bacon was hard, and the food was cold. The cazuela my companion ordered was runny and cold, the toast had no butter. And the service was lacking despite many people working. $60.00 USD for what we received is horrendous. Very disappointing. read more

Very disappointing - I remember coming here two years ago and loving the drinks and atmosphere. This time I don't know if we came right during the breakfast rush but the fruit plate I ordered was extremely mediocre. I was really looking forward to all the excellent tropical fruit but the plate included some mushy watermelon that tasted very old and like it had been sitting out for a while. It was also basically the same amount of fruit and yogurt/granola in both the full and half size portions except on a different plate (and obviously with a different price tag) so I suggest just getting the half size. The quality of the fruit wasn't as high as the cut up mangos and pineapples you can buy from the side of the road for half the price. My friends liked the breakfast dishes they ordered except the skillet that one person ordered came out when we were almost all finished. By then most of the crowd had emptied so I'm guessing it's perhaps because we were a larger group and they were doing their best to time everything coming out at the same time with that one dish falling through the cracks. Very popular with the Centro crowd and conveniently located near the ferry terminal so I recommend coming either super early morning or in the early afternoon. The portion was pretty big, but the dish was a little too salty for my taste. * Limonada, natural ($80 MXN) The lemonade was good. A sweet, tart drink to beat the heat. You can pay a little more to have it made with mineral water instead. And don't worry, natural water is different from tap water. Overall, Café Mogagua is a good choice if you're super hungry after the ferry ride and craving traditional American brunch foods or Mexican breakfast options. Solid, reliable choice in downtown Isla Mujeres. The orange juice is fresh and tasty if a bit expensive for the area. The coffee frappe was nice. The flat white was decent, not the very best I had in town but in the top couple. The avocado toast was pretty small for the cost but tasty, made on bread that tasted nice and fresh. It was enough food for me but I assumed it would be bigger. Also, they say it comes with cherry tomatoes, but really there was one cherry tomato--cut in half and used as a garnish. There's a small undressed green salad. But in island there are lots of places that just randomly won't be open, so this is a reliable place if you want to be sure of getting a good meal while sitting on a shady patio. I love their coffee! So much so that I always get brand to take home. I love the location, vibe, and service. The food never disappoints. I actually am obsessed with their avocado toast with poached eggs (plot twist: I don't like avocado LOL.) They make it so well it's the only place I will eat avocado! I HIGHLY recommend venturing out to Mango Cafe in the center of the island instead, if you can! The service there is SO kind and welcoming and the food is AMAZING. We try to go there almost every day. I can't emphasize how kind and welcoming all the employees there are. They learned my son's name within 2 days and were all so sweet to him. Mogaqua, on the other hand, is just average and very touristy. Eaten here a couple of times. Ambiance is nice, food is decent, but the service is not so great. On our last day, I stopped in with my 2 year old to grab him a side of eggs and beans to go; we couldn't stay and eat as we had to run up to pack and check out of our hotel. The restaurant said I had to order my 2 year old an entire breakfast plate. I told them that's wasteful and not necessary as he is 2 and wouldn't even finish half of it. They told me they wouldn't make him some damn eggs and beans! The manager suggested I order more food... I don't eat at 7:30 AM before packing and checking out of hotels. Was just trying to get something in my baby's tummy. It's just a little ridiculous. Makes me regret having given them any business at all since arriving here. I ate here a year ago and forgot the name! Visiting the island again a year later I searched high and low and finally found it! It's the cutest corner spot with beautiful hanging plants. The inside is cozy and comfortable with delicious breakfast, lunch and even dinner. I can't recommend enough! Tacos to pastas to pizza! We had dinner here and loved it so much that we went back the next morning to have breakfast. It's really nice and cozy atmosphere. The servers are very attentive and friendly. The best part is that they accept all type of credit cards so you don't have to worry about payment option. The food was great. We order the meat platter for dinner. It was huge and enough for the two of us. Plenty of food and drink options. Same for breakfast. We had both wester and Mexican breakfast and they were both very tasty. Priced very reasonably compared to other restaurant where you feel robbed. Our server Giovani was very helpful and even provided us with guidance to get around the area. The only one downside is that the bathrooms were really dirty otherwise I'd definitely recommend the place and give it 5/5 for their food, service and ambiance. read more

For Isla Mujeres, this seems to be a great option. The restaurant appears to be clean and has a nice cafe setting. You will feel comfortable dining here. They have a variety of food -- Mexican to traditional American. So, it is a good option if you have kids who want a burger or pizza. They also have decent Mexican food. The chicken mole was pretty good and had a large portion. We didn't try the coffee. But, it looked like a legitimate coffee shop with espresso. They also serve breakfast. Only negative was that is wasn't particularly fast. But, not slow either. Overall, if I was visiting again, this would be a good/safe bet. read more

Tonight we stopped In. Great service, great ambiance. Staff is lovely. Island life is the life for me!! We started with the octopus tostadas and it was a little fishy. The carrot juice and Cadillac margarita were amazing. The banana smoothie was loved!! The coconut shrimp was an absolute hit. The octopus looked amazing but the flavor profile was not there and no one ate it. We ended up ordering nachos instead. We still paid for it and brought the $20 octopus home to the dogs next door. I had the tuna steak and it was over cooked. I asked for medium and it was tough to cut. No flavor with a soy sauce. Veggies were alright. I ate it anyway. The chicken tacos were so dry and she only ate one. The tortilla was cold and not even heated or charred. The Tortillas chips were stale. We ordered a nacho for the replacement and it was beans and steak. Yummy steak but a let down. Overall, It a bummer of a meal. Maybe we ordered wrong?! Last week I had the chicken crepes and it was just tasteless. I want to love this place but as a yelper, I will always give an honest review. I've been here before and can't recall if I liked it but this time was an absolute bust. I do love the atmosphere and vibe but I wont be back.
