Staff was friendly and engaging. Our tacos were delicious. This restaurant is on a corner so people watching was great.
Breakfast was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Loved all of the positive sayings posted all around the restaurant. Really cute indoor outdoor style restaurant. Dog friendly! The red sangria was really good, but alcohol doesn't get served until 10am. I had the Mexican breakfast which was a traditional egg plate but also had refried beans on the side. Will definitely be back when we visit the island again
Great breakfast! Kids menu is fun-the pancakes came out as bunnies. My original mimosa was delicious. This place got busy and some ppl had a bit of a wait! The restaurant is on a cobblestone corner partially outdoor so you can people watch while you enjoy your meal. Service was fast and servers were nice
The food was delicious. The coffee also. The atmosphere was great and our waiter Alain was wonderful!!
Very disappointing - I remember coming here two years ago and loving the drinks and atmosphere. This time I don't know if we came right during the breakfast rush but the fruit plate I ordered was extremely mediocre. I was really looking forward to all the excellent tropical fruit but the plate included some mushy watermelon that tasted very old and like it had been sitting out for a while. It was also basically the same amount of fruit and yogurt/granola in both the full and half size portions except on a different plate (and obviously with a different price tag) so I suggest just getting the half size. The quality of the fruit wasn't as high as the cut up mangos and pineapples you can buy from the side of the road for half the price. My friends liked the breakfast dishes they ordered except the skillet that one person ordered came out when we were almost all finished. By then most of the crowd had emptied so I'm guessing it's perhaps because we were a larger group and they were doing their best to time everything coming out at the same time with that one dish falling through the cracks. Very popular with the Centro crowd and conveniently located near the ferry terminal so I recommend coming either super early morning or in the early afternoon. Lots of breakfast options and drinks.
【Background】 Monday, April 28, 2025, ~11:00 AM Before my vacation, I researched restaurants on Isla Mujeres and noticed Café Mogagua was often recommended, so I added it to my to-eat list. The cafe is conveniently located next to the Ultramar ferry dropoff terminal, about a five-minute walk away, and my friends and I stumbled upon the outside. I double-checked and saw that it was on my list, so we decided to go in and get brunch. Due to the restaurant's wide openings, the inside felt nice and airy. The interior is vibrant with orange and yellow accent walls and furniture. Decor includes large photographs of yelling faces and printed quotes from famous people like Gandhi. There's a wall dedicated to apparel and other souvenirs that are available for purchase. 【Food】 Menu: https://mogagua.wixsite.com/website-3?lang=en Note that prices are not updated. I ordered: * Chilaquiles, chorizo ($235 MXN) For the salsa, there are options of roja, verde, or mixta. I went with the last option so I could try both flavors. The chilaquiles included fried, slightly softened tortilla chips, sliced red onions, cherry tomatoes, crema, white Manchego cheese, and of course, chorizo. The portion was pretty big, but the dish was a little too salty for my taste. * Limonada, natural ($80 MXN) The lemonade was good. A sweet, tart drink to beat the heat. You can pay a little more to have it made with mineral water instead. And don't worry, natural water is different from tap water. Overall, Café Mogagua is a good choice if you're super hungry after the ferry ride and craving traditional American brunch foods or Mexican breakfast options. It's a cozy spot for a sit-down meal with decent prices (at least compared to the U.S.). The total pre-tip cost for 4 people was $1,215 MXN, and we each ordered a dish and a drink. However, next time, I'd rather go to Mercado Municipal for a more authentic meal [1]. 【Service】 Our waiter was nice and friendly, and the food came out in a reasonable time. After we paid, he wrote his name on a piece of paper and asked us to include it if we decided to review the restaurant on Tripadvisor. I never like places that nudge customers to leave reviews since it inflates the ratings. The suggested tipping amounts are a little Americanized; the credit card reader asked for 10%, 15%, or 20%, so be prepared for that. 【Tips】 They accept credit cards here. ---------- [1] https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g150810-d3914460-Reviews-Mercado_Municipal-Isla_Mujeres_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
Solid, reliable choice in downtown Isla Mujeres. The orange juice is fresh and tasty if a bit expensive for the area. The coffee frappe was nice. The flat white was decent, not the very best I had in town but in the top couple. The avocado toast was pretty small for the cost but tasty, made on bread that tasted nice and fresh. It was enough food for me but I assumed it would be bigger. Also, they say it comes with cherry tomatoes, but really there was one cherry tomato--cut in half and used as a garnish. There's a small undressed green salad. But in island there are lots of places that just randomly won't be open, so this is a reliable place if you want to be sure of getting a good meal while sitting on a shady patio. The WiFi was fine on a couple of visits. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent service and awesome food! We had the coffee, orange juice and it was very good! The food even better! Full of flavor! Our waitress Jade was so nice and spoke very good English! She was very attentive!
This is such a cute spot! Lots of seating and ceiling fans. The staff were also really kind and helpful when ordering. The breakfast burrito was delicious as well!
I love their coffee! So much so that I always get brand to take home. I love the location, vibe, and service. The food never disappoints. I actually am obsessed with their avocado toast with poached eggs (plot twist: I don't like avocado LOL.) They make it so well it's the only place I will eat avocado! I want to try their other breakfast items, too. Plus they are open for dinner and it's quiet, pretty twinkle lights, and looks romantic.
I ate here a year ago and forgot the name! Visiting the island again a year later I searched high and low and finally found it! It's the cutest corner spot with beautiful hanging plants. The inside is cozy and comfortable with delicious breakfast, lunch and even dinner. I can't recommend enough! Tacos to pastas to pizza! Ricardo was our server and prob our favorite server we've had on island! He was so friendly and engaging with our family! This spot is a must stop!
Only stopped by for coffee, but wish we tried the food! Our visit was short and didn't have time to try out this spot, but it is definitely added to our list for next time! Amazing coffee, bought some beans to bring home.

We have visited twice during our time on Isla Mujeres. Our first time there my husband and I shared the Breakfast Burrito with Ham and Mayan Potatoes. Coffee drinks were good and presented nicely, I had the caramel frappe and my husband had a mocha both visits. The ham and cheese croissant was served warm and buttery, pancakes were fluffy and tasty. We may go back a third time before we leave. read more
This is an open air restaurant with fans running, but since its open youre still going to be hot. I walked here because it was around the corner from where I am staying and I dont like the typical breakfast based on bread and sugar and prefer something more meat heavy. I ordered mocha latte with a warm temperature and it came like I asked. Its not the best latte ive had on the island, but its better than the last 2 places I tried (Rooster has the best one Ive had). I got the enchiladas for breakfast. Ive only had them a couple times in america and I never liked them, but these werent bad. I read the breakfast burrito was good so if I come back ill try that next time. My waiter spoke English well and was nice. They apparently have wifi but laptops are banned until noon. read more

Came here again for dessert and the next morning for breakfast. Dessert was fantastic, I had a Nutella strawberry banana crepe and hot mocha. For breakfast I ordered the farmers breakfast, I requested scrambled eggs and was not given an option of pancake/waffle, it showed up with a waffle. My eggs were fried as opposed to scrambled, the bacon was hard, and the food was cold. The cazuela my companion ordered was runny and cold, the toast had no butter. And the service was lacking despite many people working. $60.00 USD for what we received is horrendous. Very disappointing. read more

Amazing place! If you want something unique, that is the place to eat. Claudia, our server, was really great at recommending exactly what we enjoyed! Everything was delicious! We loved our fish main course, margaritas and grilled octopus! read more
We just got to the island and needed coffee stat! This was the first place we found it was only a block from our hotel. Large open air patio that was lively with people. We ordered a large americano and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was strong and delicious and it paired nicely with the flaky, buttery, chocolatey croissant. read more

Shoutout to this cafe. Shoutout to this island! The servers are very sweet and welcoming. It's nice and open, plenty of seating, restrooms available, very clean. The coffee was amazing! Although they didn't have it on their menu, they make a great vanilla latte and their croissant is also very good. Definitely staying at this island next vacay and definitely making this my spot. I love you, Cafe Mogagua. read more
This place is good! I much prefer more "off the beaten path" restaurants while traveling but honestly I did enjoy my very American breakfast in Mexico here! Their coffee is the best I've had on the island. Excellent service. Good food. Over priced but honestly most of the places on Hidalgo are. If I had to pick one of them this would definitely be it. Love the positive quotes everywhere as well. Pancakes were just like home. read more

Came here based on FB suggestions. They didn't disappoint for breakfast. The smoothie are very good and so was the breakfast. The eggs your choice was just the way you want it. Very well made. The Açaí Red Smoothie Bowl was very good and a big serving. I had the El Veracruzano at it was excellent!! We will definitely come back for breakfast before we leave. I say this is a must try for breakfast. read more

We had dinner here and loved it so much that we went back the next morning to have breakfast. It's really nice and cozy atmosphere. The servers are very attentive and friendly. The best part is that they accept all type of credit cards so you don't have to worry about payment option. The food was great. We order the meat platter for dinner. It was huge and enough for the two of us. Plenty of food and drink options. Same for breakfast. We had both wester and Mexican breakfast and they were both very tasty. Priced very reasonably compared to other restaurant where you feel robbed. Our server Giovani was very helpful and even provided us with guidance to get around the area. The only one downside is that the bathrooms were really dirty otherwise I'd definitely recommend the place and give it 5/5 for their food, service and ambiance. read more

Good food and good service. I had the soup, which was spicy and delicious. My friend got the octopus on a fried tortilla. She enjoyed it but said the guacamole was bland. The restaurant itself is spacious and it was pretty quiet when we arrived, just after noon. read more

Food is delicious and ambience was very relaxing. Much better tasting meals and service than what you would receive in the US. Located in Centro Isla Mujeres. We all had a typical American breakfast except for my husband who had ordered Huevos Motulenos. Everything came out fresh and looked appetizing! I greatly enjoyed my avocado toast! I wanted something light and fresh and it was absolutely delicious! My children ate all of their breakfast and fruit plate. Price was very comparable to US a prices but much fresher and appetizing. They had great coffee/lattes and even gave us a to go cup since we couldn't finish their large. Would return here for breakfast! read more

SO GOOD! Highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner on your Isla Mujeres day. The coffees are so delicious and sweet! The food was flavorful, inexpensive, and lots of variety in the menu. I loved the savory pablana crepe! It's slightly off the main street of Isla Mujeres and has a nice plant, pretty vibes. The people here are also super nice and good service! read more

You can't go wrong with this little gem. They're open early, 7 am. The atmosphere is comfortable and fun. The service is always on point and lastly, the food and beverages are phenomenal. Cafe Mogagua is a cute stop on Isla Mujures. We stumbled upon whik wandering the smaller streets on the north side of Isla Mujeres. The vibe is very cute, and the menu is extensive. Service was great, the waiters speak English and Spanish. We had the best tuna steak we've ever had here! The chicken fajita was a safe option, and was decent. read more

Tonight we stopped In. Great service, great ambiance. Staff is lovely. Island life is the life for me!! We started with the octopus tostadas and it was a little fishy. The carrot juice and Cadillac margarita were amazing. The banana smoothie was loved!! The coconut shrimp was an absolute hit. The octopus looked amazing but the flavor profile was not there and no one ate it. We ended up ordering nachos instead. We still paid for it and brought the $20 octopus home to the dogs next door. I had the tuna steak and it was over cooked. I asked for medium and it was tough to cut. No flavor with a soy sauce. Veggies were alright. I ate it anyway. The chicken tacos were so dry and she only ate one. The tortilla was cold and not even heated or charred. The Tortillas chips were stale. We ordered a nacho for the replacement and it was beans and steak. Yummy steak but a let down. Overall, It a bummer of a meal. Maybe we ordered wrong?! Last week I had the chicken crepes and it was just tasteless. I want to love this place but as a yelper, I will always give an honest review. I've been here before and can't recall if I liked it but this time was an absolute bust. I do love the atmosphere and vibe but I wont be back. There are too many amazing places to eat here. read more
