Enchiladas
Joanna B.

Came to celebrate a sweet friends birthday and had a wonderful experience! The staff was all so friendly and very attentive. They were also hilarious and kept coming by to tease us a bit. I ordered the enchilada plate and it was absolutely delicious! Huge portion and the price is very reasonable. My friends both got the fish tacos and liked them very much! Since we were celebrating a birthday, the staff surprised us with a birthday fried ice cream! It was decadent!

Love this place. Always have always will. The sports bar section is fun if your team wins. Happy hour deals all week long, pretty solid and I like that. Good that they have a cheap beer option too.

Hottest Enchiladas on the block! My wife loves this place because of the boiling hot enchiladas. Quick service for the tables at the bar area. They took the jukebox offline and were playing some good tunes. Thanks for a nice valentines datenight.

(Visited as part of a free Yelp event!) Okay listen... I only got to try the chimichanga, and I vacuumed it! No shame. Crispy, cheesy, perfectly golden on the outside, and totally melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. If this is how they do chimichangas, I'll gladly eat my way through the rest of the menu. Also--the margaritas? Fresh, bright, and easy to lose track of how many you've ordered. The place has that cozy, local favorite feel (which makes sense--it's been around over 20 years and still going strong). People talk about how it's a family-run spot with recipes passed down for generations, and you can tell. It's not trying too hard--just solid, flavorful food that hits right. A few other reviewers mentioned how welcoming the vibe is and how nice the staff are, and I'd have to agree. Friendly faces, no fuss, just good food and good energy. I'll be back to try more--especially now that I know their menu's packed with hits.

Festive and cheerful appearance from the outside

El Adobe is our neighbor/friends' favorite restaurant. So when we have a dinner outing with them, we go here. The food is consistently delicious, prices are fair for the portion served and Sergio is the best! He is so very kind and attentive. This time I ordered a beef tostada and I love that it's full of flavor, a good size and is served with guacamole and sour cream. Perfect portion for a light dinner. My hubby ordered the plate that comes with cheese enchiladas (he asked to add onions) and topped with over-easy eggs and served with rice and beans. He gobbled up every bite and said it was delicious. It's on the breakfast menu but they can prepare it all day! His favorite meal---breakfast for dinner! There are a variety of dining areas and it's interesting to sit in a different section each time. It's comfy! Though I think some areas are louder than others. Definitely a locals favorite place to go. We'll be back.

We had a girls party and we had it catered from El Adobe for our dinner. Javier delivered it and set it up for us. Super reasonable and so delicious. We had a yelp event there, it was super tasty ands everyone super friendly. Plenty of food. Had left overs. So if you want something catered give them a call for your catering needs!!!

I came here with some girlfriends Saturday night and we had a blast. Ordered a pitcher of margaritas for the table which was a good choice. Service was awesome. Very friendly, and accommodating. I love that this place has like three different areas depending on the vibe you want. The restaurant portion, bar, and sports bar. Their chimichanga is AMAZING. Best I've had in Reno to be honest.

Met some friends here and was surprised that we never at hear before. I didn't realize it was so big with a sports bar attached. The food was great, and the margarita was good. It has a great party atmosphere and a good sized parking lot for being in the Midtown area. I'll be going back and bringing more friends!

Very good menudo! Service was nice and quick. Kind of an old school Mexican joint. Would definitely come back. Would of been 5 stars but I asked for no hominy and still got it in my soup

Super tender and delicious shredded chicken. I got corn tostada with chicken, it come with beans, lettuce, cheese, avocado, tomatoes, and sour cream. Perfect size foe me, especially after eating some chips and salsa. The salsa is very good and unique for other restaurants I have been to. The service is great, timing on refilling water was great, checking to see if there was anything else needed and the delivery of the check came all at the right time. Nice and cool inside, and they also have outdoor covered seating.

Two tacos (no meat)

I ordered two tacos (with no meat) and they were nice to accommodate. I liked the added frying to the tortilla too. The wait staff was friendly and a nice atmosphere. They also have a shaded outdoor seating area.

Michael T recently featured El Adobe and it made me realize I hadn't been there for a while. I couldn't believe how much they've expanded-the Sports Bar area was not there the last time and it's perfect for larger parties. I had forgotten how good the food is. We had beef taquitos, cheese enchilada and chile relleno combo along with some margaritas and Micheladas. So good and service was great. Going to add this restaurant back into my regular rotation because it's so good!

We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday. The joint was nearly empty aside from a couple at the bar. Plenty of seating for our large group in the large, comfy couches. They also have cool built-in seating around the perimeter of the bar, though not nearly as comfortable as the vintage furniture. The menu is sorted by glass type. A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. The prices are reasonable, too. Definitely worth the visit.

We had two very different tastes (vodka and tequila) and she nailed both drinks perfectly. The bar felt clean, welcoming and comfortable even with its edgy vibe. I also loved the tarot cards they provide! I think they may have been intended as coasters (lol) but I kept mine as a souvenir and now use it as my bookmark. It's become one of my favorite little keepsakes. Location and parking: it's on a main strip right on the corner with a small parking lot but there's also accessible street parking in the neighborhood. The doors open into an pocket sized oasis right here in our own dry AF high-desert air; a dimly lit collection of tropical plants, puffer fish, ukelele music and aloha shirts. The establishment's proprietor, Dr. Shocker, perpetually clad in floral print and signature straw hat, is a fixture at the corner of the bar. He tells great stories. This is a true Reno hidden gem, and harkens to a simpler era of the classic Tiki bar, strong drinks, and living on island time. Go get drinks, get some samosas from next door...and get an Uber home.
