    You won't BELIEVE my moving story...including SEXIST and BERATING treatment of a woman (me) and $8,000+ worth of damages... --- EkoMovers won't issue any partial refund for their assigned movers doing $8,000 IN DAMAGES to my property because of their failure to wrap ANY of the furniture as contracted... oh wait no... they offered me $75. They flat out STEPPED ON my white chairs with their BLACK BOOTS... I've been emailing and calling them since NOVEMBER 2021 trying to resolve this patiently and amicably. -------------------------------------- YOU ready for THIS CRAZY STORY?? -------------------------------------- Movers called the day before and said: "Can we come early? We'll be there in 3-4 hours around 4:30pm to start wrapping furniture." OK sure....5.5 hours later when they never showed they called asked if they could still come at 9pm. 9pm is a little late and my kids would be in bed so they said "we'll be there at 7am tomorrow." Ok... fine, that was official moving day anyway. I wake up to see they CALLED ME AT 2:22AM!! Ya know... when bars close around here. 7am rolls around.... they don't show. 8am... still not there. 8:30am I finally call... A very horse and groggy man answers the phone: "Oh, {cough} we just woke up... we'll get dressed now and come over. We were rerouted because of construction and got in late." WHAT THE HELL... I was feeling super confident at this point so I emailed management at Ekomovers to let them know what's been going on just to keep them informed about their staff. Afterall, I'm a business owner, I would want to know. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. Movers finally show up and first thing they say is.... "I called you at 2am? Uh, sorry" Soooo at that point management won't speak even to me... but they said something to the crew... (which I specifically mentioned I was concerned about in the email) --- THEN the following slew of services not rendered and unprofessionalism occurred: - Movers arrived not wearing uniform as promised, wearing pajama pants and towels over their heads... ok fine... not the end of the world - Movers REFUSED to walk through my house with me before starting the move so I could show them all that needed to be moved (as I wanted to ensure it would fit in the truck since I received zero reply about that when I gave an updated inventory months prior). I tried walking them through and they REFUSED to finish walking through it and just said "no it's fine we'll just get started." Guess what? We needed a bigger truck like I thought and had to SCRAMBLE to get another one (from a different AMAZING company) before getting on a plane the next morning. - RIGHT AWAY I KNEW there was insufficient staffing for the job at hand. TWO PEOPLE TO MOVE a 5 BEDROOM HOME. So, I call management after two hours of watching the movers struggle because it's clearly too much work for them,l to offer to go find more help on my own dime or pay for another crew member... RANDY (management): "I've moved 5000 moves. We only need two people for a 5 bedroom, 4,200 square foot house." Ok fine... you're the expert... I'll just trust you. we hang up. Management calls the movers and I hear the movers pick up and START YELLING AT EACH OTHER. "SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT." :::THE BEST PART::: Movers then REFUSE TO SPEAK TO ME, the paying party on the contract, and would try to only speak to my husband. THEY WOULDN'T COMMUNICATE WITH A WOMAN. - They DIDN'T WRAP ANY FURNITURE as the contract says they would and consequently (and seemingly purposefully - see photo of black boot mark on white chair) damaged almost every single piece of furniture they moved. - Unprofessional loading of hand carts. Because they were understaffed, they over-loaded the handcarts causing boxes to fall REPEATEDLY, and breakage to occur. - Rough handling of boxes, including slamming them down, and smalling into walls and doorways causing damage to our brand new home and things. - No disassembly OR assembly of furniture as contracted. None what-so-ever.

    Spoke with Carter about my move, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Eko Movers is an eco-friendly company, which I had never heard of before in a mover. They use environmentally friendly packing products and containers that can be reused: - Geami Wrap- Bio-degradable, alternative to bubble wrap. - Reusable Mattress Bags- Free for all full service moves. Treated and sterilized after every use. - Cushion Cubes- Alternative to packing peanuts. The Eko Boxes are an awesome idea. Think Rubbermaid plastic bins that you can rent! No more hunting down cardboard boxes. No more having to dispose of dozens of empty cardboard boxes. Just return them to the company once you're unpacked. It's a brilliant idea, plus the Eko Boxes are stackable and are easier to carry than cardboard. Unlike other companies, Eko Movers charges by the hour with no minimum: $99.00 per hour (no minimum hour requirement) $99.00 one-time transportation charge 99 cents per mile from move origin to move destination. During the move floors were unprotected and gouged and scratched and walls were also scratched and gouged. A 3 piece wall unit was ripped apart without the connecting bolts removed. In addition, 2 of the 6 glass doors were broken. A dryer and freezer were both damaged and the freezer stopped working. Parts were left anywhere. For example, 2 futons were taken apart. At the new house futon parts were found in the garage, some in the kitchen and others in the basement. Shelves to a bookcase were not found. Trash was left behind in our yard after they left. This is not a comprehensive list, just the major highlights. I filed a claim, and almost 4 months later here are the results. The damages to floors and walls cost over $1600 to fix. They offer $0 to repair. The bookcase cost $1100 30 years ago, and $7000 to replicate. They offer $850. The freezer reimbursement offer was $60. I elected $10,000 insurance, but you see the results of my claim submission. Here is Moving Ahead's last reply to me: If you still do not find our current offer to be acceptable, the next step would be to begin the arbitration procedure, as outlined in the documentation you have already received.
