Very drawn out and disappointing experience. My kitchen counter was broken during the initial visit and I had to fight for the company to help pay to try to temporarily seal the broken pieces.The mice problem was reduced, but not solved. After multiple attempts and visits by many different people working for EJs, I still have a mouse problem. This is after investing countless hours and nearly 1,000 dollars in the problem. He walked me through the process of how to close up the possible entry points he found throughout the house. He even laid down traps. I paid over $1,000 for the service all for the mouse to be caught on a trap my partner put down with peanut butter. He caught the mouse a week later. In addition months later another mouse made it in the house so clearly not all entry points had been sealed. Waste of money because both mice were caught on different traps. read more

Less than 24 hours after I reached out to EJ's, my entire home perimeter had been treated for a termite infestation that I had unfortunately found. My wife said that the workers were very careful and courteous, and did a great job. They even left a list of the chemicals they used, and it lined up with the extensive research I did last night in a panic after I was worrying about my house. I will monitor the termites, but if they die in a month or two I'll know that it worked! read more

You'll be overcharged. I can only speak to the pricing of this company as I canceled before services were rendered. This company charges way over the current standard for the DMV area. You will pay an extra $200-300 with no extras like extended warranties. You can find good, quality service for about half the cost. That is what happened to me - - I booked an appointment with EJ Pest Control. Later, I googled other bird removal companies and found one that would do the job for $190 rather than the $550 that EJ Pest Control quoted me. Their service was okay but almost everything was "if I have to do this" or "stay longer" than an hour the price will go up. I had my service done over a year ago. Recently reached out to them for another issue and the price was ridiculous. The service I had was to get rid of a mouse. I believe there was one mouse and it got in during construction. The mouse disappeared several weeks later after some traps with poison and brillo place around radiator holes. Job was done but the service was not customer friendly. Provide a quote to get the job done. I paid more than the quote and after recently getting another exterminator to come out for something else and the way I was treated I realized I wouldn't use this place again. read more

EJ was very sweet, and arrived on time. I'd contacted her for a mouse issue, when Biotech Pest Control (our usual company) was unresponsive (kept responding to Yelp messages telling me to call, but never picked up the phone). EJ used what looked like the copper Brillo Home Depot sells for $5 to seal a few holes she found in our home and set out a few traditional $6 mouse traps (using our own peanut butter). For $250 I expected a lot more. At least an electronic mouse trap or three. Or, a lower price for the services rendered. Overall, a very kind and personable technician, but extremely expensive. Time will tell if the holes EJ found and sealed keep the pests out. That my friends, will be well worth the funds. I recently helped my 22 year old son move to a different apartment in DC (this past weekend). Many things had gone wrong, and there were the amazing few people who also went above and beyond. We noticed leftover "remnants" of potential mice, and some creepy, crawlers. The stairwell hosted much of the activity, and that's the only way to this new apt. I called EJs on a SAT around 5pm. I had tried a couple others, they did not answer or could not book me in for days. EJs understood that we had urgency to get the PEST CONTROL done BEFORE moving in with live pests. They sent someone out that evening and he was there past EIGHT pm!!!!! Their hours are ACTUALLY 9-9 and that is 7 days a week!!!!! The technician also went beyond...he pulled out the oven to distribute "pine", and went into pantry to set traps he "made". He took this so seriously. This company is crooked. Quoted me $300 for removing mother squirrel and $25 for each baby squirrel. $375 total. But when they were done the office said that they were charging me $375 for the mother squirrel plus $50 for each baby. I told them that was incorrect. They then said the cost was $375 for the mother and $25 for each baby. The manager proceeded to argue with me over the phone. At one point she was talking to someone in her office and telling them how ungrateful I was. I was quoted $375 total (I knew before hand that there was a mother and 3 babies). They charged me $450. This company should not be on the DCRA approved contractors list for removing pests. The management is not honest. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. EJ's response below to my review above is a lie. I will be reporting them to the DC DOH, DCRA as well as my City Councilman. They should not be a DCRA approved contractor. I encourage anyone else who has had a bad experience with them (and there are A LOT, just look at the reviews) to do the same. They need to be removed from the DCRA approved contractor list. I've used them once (Oct 2016) and the service was ok, but it was due to immediate needs. I contacted them again (May 2017) and will never be using them again. The owner of the company (who is the one that picks up the phone) has probably one of the worst customer service capabilities i've ever seen. We needed a pest control company to go out to a property we manage in the city this past Saturday to remove a dead rodent (yuck! I know!). EJ Pest Control was probably my fifth call - I even called the company the owners have a contract with and no one was available! EJ answered the phone in a prompt and professional manner and had someone out within the next 45 minutes! Their technician located the dead squirrel, sanitized the area and patched up the hole to prevent other animals from entering the home. We have a monthly building contract with Orkin in my condo in Washington, DC. On Wednesday morning I received a call from my tenants at that property that there were maggots in the ceiling vent. I called Orkin with the emergency. I would have hoped for quick emergency service but begged the technician to come same day which he thankfully agreed to at the end of his shift. He had no ladder on the truck (WHY?) so we gave him a step ladder and he basically said there was nothing that could be done. Didn't even spray to kill the maggots present. I think there should have been SOME action taken regardless of the lack of a ladder. He came the next day with a ladder and said the problem was in the vent (possible dead animal). Again left without action. Frustrated and unhelped, I called EJ's. They came out in a couple hours, found a dead bird and removed it, sprayed to kill the maggots and hopefully solved the problem. The level of service and quickness of service was above and beyond. I called Orkin to cancel my annual plan immediately and switch to EJ's! read more

The Good and the Bad of Ej's Pest Control. On August 28th, 2019, I called EJs to get pricing information. Two of my rentals needed pest control at 6309 and 4532. I gave them my credit card number to hold the date. I scheduled for September 2nd, 2019. They arrived and did the service on the 1st unit and it was okay. They said it would be about $800 for the two units. I called the residence in my second unit and they said that they could not do the pest control that day due to an emergency. I told the owner that I would write her a check for the first unit and I would call back to reschedule for the second unit. The pest control technicians said that they did not have time to wait for me to get them a check. So I told the owner to charge the first unit and I would call back to reschedule the second rental. When I went to reconcile the credit card bill I noticed that the owner had a charge for both units, not one. So I called my credit card and told them about the events. They said did you call them. I said, no, I have not called them yet. Then we called them together. I explained the situation with the women on answered the phone and she said that should not be a problem to rectify the situation. She said that she would call me back in a few. She called me back in a few minutes to say that they would not refund anything because that was not their problem that my tenant had an emergency. Then after I pushed back she said that she would refund only 1/3 of the $400. I told her that is unfair. Then I told her that I was going to record our conversation and then she hung up. I called my credit card to tell them what happened. I have called back a few times now they won't answer my text or phone calls so I can not schedule my quarterly pest control ( I have 3 remaining for the year). This sucks. read more

I wish I could write a raving review to match the many reviews I read, which was the reason I selected this local business to service our ant issue. Our initial treatment did not completely treat the issue but, a second treatment appears to have fixed that. My positive experience was : the technician was eager to rectify our issue after she learned our first treatment didn't work and it's been a week since our second treatment with not one ant sighting! Yeah! We didn't have the best experience with this company. I won't list the reasons because maybe we are an isolated incident. We needed help on a Sunday afternoon because of a mouse sighting. They were able to send someone in a few hours. From what inspector said, there was a hole behind the fridge and patch it up. So we let him do his thing and we purchased a 2 time service pack for 400ish bucks (NOT CHEAP!!!). The 2nd call took less than 5 minutes. He said because we didnt see anything, we're ok. We asked him to look behind the fridge and there was a dead mouse underneath. Thank goodness we asked him to look. Fast forward 3ish months. We spotted mice again and we went with another local provider since we spotted them on a Saturday. The provider checked out the hole behind the fridge and said the patching job was just cardboard taped to the wall, which made it easy for the mice to get out. Also there was a huge hole behind the stove that wasn't addressed. We had no major renovation or anything to make this hole "new". So all in all - we hope never to have pest problems again. But in case we do, we'll be looking elsewhere for our needs. read more

Unfortunately this isn't going to be a good review. Looks like their customer service needs some serious work! I found them on Craigslist. Asked about having a hornets nest removed and got an immediate answer with a quote of $250.00. I did my research and got a few more quotes from other companies but EJ's had them beat......unfortunately that was just too good to be true. When I contacted them again to set an appointment they asked for my address, phone number and payment. I gave them my address, phone number, but told them I would pay when services were rendered. Then they wanted a picture of the nest, I sent them that. A few hours go by and then they email me again telling me that the price would be $50 more than their quote. Hate to tell you this EJ, but when you give a quote (and it doesn't matter if you jumped the gun or not) you should do the honorable thing and adhere to your quote! And after I tell them that it isn't right, that they just raise the price, they try and say that they didn't know all the particulars and that's what changed the price. Again, hate to tell you this EJ, but maybe you should have thought of that before you gave the quote!! Sorry, not very reputable!! Definitely not trustworthy!!! Update* When you give a quote (even if you do it before you know the particulars), you should find out all the facts first!! Changing the price of your quote after the fact is crappy at best. I'm sorry you feel that it is alright to do that. So enjoy your review here. I called EJ at 12pm this week and she was able come by the same day to take of some major bed bug issues at my condo. EJ was very responsive when I called and was flexible to work with me even though she had a packed schedule that day. She didn't charge me extra for patching up a hole with appliable concrete that she brought with her. Her prices and offer was comparably lower than the competitions and she offered 2 treatments for roaches/mice/and bed bugs. I got a really good and great service! Day 3 now and the bed bugs are gone and my roommates are happy that they haven't had any issue so far. She will come treat again next week and I will look forward to seeing her again. read more

Do not recommend - complete waste of $75. The pest control inspector came to my apartment due to concerns about fleas or bed bugs (I'm afraid it's from recent travel). He took maybe ten minutes, lifted up the mattress, and said "I don't see any marks (on the bed) or bed bugs. But the bites on your legs look like bed bugs. Wash your sheets in hot water and hopefully that will be ok. You could also try to sleep here again to see if you get more bites (I already have 13!!)." He was nice, but I have no confidence that what he said was accurate and he did not offer any meaningful ideas or solutions. So now I have to hire someone else. read more

Such dreadful service!!!! WASTE OF MONEY Came in super quickly just to leave us with a couple of traps that yes, caught some of the pests, but also were left for us to even install and get rid of when they did work (some of them were sticky glue traps that caught live mice, I strongly recommend never using them if you have to dispose of them yourself also kills them most of the time anyways and this was NOT preferred). Their presence to tell us we had already caught the only mouse they assumed was in our house (just because we were clean and of course didn't leave remnants lying around but knew it was more than one) did nothing to solve the problem. They also acted like my roommates and I were crazy to think there was more than one when come to find out there were multiple mice in our house that my roommates and I caught no thanks to this service. They said there were no holes after walking generally around only the inside of the house and later I myself had to investigate and found that our kitchen had a small crack in the wall. Additionally, I was also hung up on by the owner and she was super rude when I explained that they needed to come back and fill these holes after we had caught five other mice. She did nothing. The warranty is a joke and the service is a rip off. read more

If there was a zero star option I would've chosen that. This has got to be THE worst customer experience on the market. $100 to "inspect" the area underneath my house. The inspection consisted of crouching into the crawl space and shining a light. Not only was I responsible for providing flashlights and assistance, the owner EJ was incapable of providing her technician with enough information to do that job, and proceeded to lie through her teeth while on the phone with me. Terrible customer service! I have an eight-month-old baby and had a raccoon trapped in my house. I explained to the lady that the technician coming at 7:30 PM is a little too late for us and if they could send someone earlier in the day because the raccoon was chewing through the walls and trying to get into my kitchen. The lady later called my husband and canceled the appointment and made it sound like there was some kind of confusion in our phone call. At that point I was also confused so I called them back. The lady said she canceled my appointment because I sounded frantic and my tone was off. Of course my tone is off when I'm frantic and scared, and I explained that to her. I also asked if it was because they didn't think they can do the job? She proceeded to say that I have attitude and that my tone was off and to find someone else and hung up on me. I'm in the customer service industry myself And to be that kind of rude to a mother in need and in a dangerous situation is something that will forever baffle my mind. Also not to mention that they wrote a response below my comment basically telling me I'm lying.
