The food was fantastic! The potato chips are super! However, I'm a bit confused. We ate there on a Friday and had a great experience from a particular individual. Today, I asked that same person for a cup of water and they said they didn't have any (I was provided water 4 days ago-I even walked around town and went back and had a refill, including the ice). Today it was like pulling teeth and I was reluctantly given a glass of ice but was forced to go into the restroom to put water in it. If the owner replies to this message I will be happy to provide the name of the person who does not represent thise restaurant well. read more

Nice lunch stop in Hico on the way to Fort Worth... it was unexpected to find local dining options on a Sunday, but this one hit the spot: friendly service and great atmosphere! I had a melt on jalapeño sourdough. It was a bit sweet - the mustard maybe ? - which is not my personal preference and the sourdough is the soft , not the crusty kind. I'd probably try something different next time , or just try a different dressing. The tomato soup side had a little kick to it and was excellent. This is a small restaurant specializing in fresh made sandwiches and sides. The staff was friendly and accomodating, and the service was good. You walk up to the counter and place your order and they bring it to you. The roast beef sandwich and the turkey melt were served on jalapeno sourdough roll , and they were both delicious. I have eaten at EIS several times, I haven't had a bad experience ever. The bread they use is light and has a delicious flavor as I always get the jalapeño bread. Their smoked chicken salad is amazing, whether it be roast beef, turkey what have you they are all yummy. The tomato soup is very tasty but my heart belongs to the literati salad, so good! The bread alone was fantastic. My sister had the jalapeño grilled cheese sandwich with chicken salad added on. I had the pasta salad and she had the potato salad.
