Had the chop steak with peppercorn sauce, absolutely delicious. My friend had the chicken fried steak which looked like it had been double fried. The steak was literally swimming in grease on the plate. I told her to send it back, but she didn't. Service was slow even though hardly anyone was there. I love this place. Hope to find it better next time I'm driving through. read more

Cute little Texas Diner. Best ice tea I've ever had both sweet and unsweet. Spilt pea soup of the day had just the right broth to pea and ham and the delicious bread made it a meal. Tiki Hubby had the chicken fried Steak - thick crispy batter around a tender piece of steak with a creamy gravy. Came with buttery corn with fresh carrots and squash and homemade lumpy buttery smashed potatoes. Stop by if you get a chance. read more

Came into town to vote & decided to try something different for lunch. We chose Cactus Grill just off the square. VERY good choice. Nice & quiet & friendliest staff. I chose chicken salad sandwich with fries. The sandwich was packed full of the chicken salad with grapes & apples, lettuce & tomatoes on homemade toast. The fries were thin with just the right crunch. Hubby got beef enchiladas which he loved. We ordered chips, salsa & Q'ueso. These too were homemade & great. The waiter was charming & kept our glasses full. The hostess was very friendly & welcoming. We live 25 miles away from there but plan to return soon. read more

Broke down on the side of the road and came in for a quick bite while we waited for the truck to be repaired. Got our food fast and when we went to leave a massive hailstorm came through so we were trapped inside. The staff here was so friendly and offered us help when we explained our situation. We had time to eat our meals and they were absolutely delicious. Please support this restaurant not only because the food is good but the staff here is kind hearted. Also the restaurant is really neat looking, kinda western. Thank you Cactus Grill for taking us in and feeding us good food. read more

I gave it 4 stars because the food we ordered was good. My burger was large and seasoned well. My husband's grilled cheese had real cheese and a nice crust. The ice tea was fresh brewed, and the place was clean. Although a little dark inside. Service was good. But it just wasn't over the top. Everything we ate, I could have made myself at home. But if you're out and about in Meridian, it's a good place to eat, just not a destination spot. read more

Quick service. Drinks never went empty. Quiet relaxing environment. Chicken piccata was a little too vinegary for my personal liking, but gorgeous presentation. My husband got the ribeye, and it was spectacular. Even the kids chicken strips were delicious. Sweet tea was perfect. Bread was a little hard but the butter saved it all. Overall, an amazing place to take the family!! read more

Amazing food and great service! A bunch of reviews talk about how long the service takes, but we went for lunch and it was not bad at all (you also have to remember where this restaurant is located, and how a restaurant in a small town in Texas won't have the same service as a big town/city). Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable on the food. Some of the best food I've had in a while read more

What a gem hidden here in Meridian; we came from DFW to experience their establishment and food as my Mother raved about it. I don't know where to begin.. the focaccia with rosemary bread was outstanding and our meals went above our expectations. We popped in for Valentine's and the beef for their specials didn't disappoint. You get your money's worth! read more

Good food, great menu selection and friendly, prompt service. Stop by on your way through town!

Have been looking forward to trying this place out. We came over from Cleburne not sure if I would make a special trip again. Was looking forward trying the Sirloin with Lobster Bearnaise sauce but they Did Not Have it. Ugh Ordered Calamari app and Asparagus and Tomato app's Got Calamari and Artichoke dip.Which was very good but we didn't get what we ordered. Which fell on deaf ears of the staff. I had the Special 8oz Steak with Demiglaze the Glaze was better than the steak. Wife had Spinach salad which she enjoyed. My son had pork chops which he said was good but nothing special. Desert Flan pie good but needed some kind of topping. Very much wanted to be impressed but was not. Service was kinda slow as well. Our waiter was sitting on his phone a lot. read more

The catfish was a great portion. Their cilantro jalapeño tartar was amazing! I don't normally eat tartar sauce but that was a great compliment to the fish. Be sure to have enough time because this great food takes time. read more

Been by here a few times when playing football in Meridian and they always look closed. Finally decided to call and they were OPEN! Food was delicious. Got the mixed fajitas and the beef was one of the best I'd ever had. Tender and full of flavor. Chicken was really good and juicy! Wife got blackened chicken pasta and loved it. Kids(x4) got fried cat fish, chicken fried chicken, beef enchiladas, and grilled cheese and they each really enjoyed their meal. Server was on top of everything, never leaving our cups empty! Will definitely be back. read more

Don't let the small-town-Texas storefront look deceive you - when you enter the Cactus Grill in Meridian, TX, you are in for a true treat. What may appear to be a typical downtown diner is, in truth, a casual restaurant featuring fine food served with with excellent attention to your comfort. Our purpose was to get together with a friend roughly mid-way between Fort Worth and Waco, so almost anything would have done. But the food was delicious and plentiful. Well worth the drive! read more

Excellent! We stopped in on the way to Dinosaur World. I got the New Mexico Meatballs and it was slightly over salted but not enough that I didn't eat it. The food is good and the staff is helpful. My husband got the southwest meatballs and I got the pecan crusted pork medallions. Everything we ate was good, the only criticism is that it is slightly too salty. The only other reasons I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the servers/host stay on their phones constantly texting and the lighting is pretty bad. I'm talking dark. We would come back and recommend to others. read more

Delicious food! I ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which was creamy goodness. My husband got the Chicken Fried Steak. He said it was very good. We both made a happy plate. We would come and eat again. read more

When I rode I to Meridian, I assumed my choices would be burgers or bbq, both good, but on a 100 degree day I was hoping for lighter lunch options. The Cactus is excellent. Family run, friendly, and great food. I ordered the Greek salad with grilled chicken, no dressing. This was just right for lunch! Fresh bread is also served with the meal. Most of the other patrons were ordering the fried catfish and chicken fried steak, so I might give one of those a try on a cooler day :) The Cactus is tucked away off of Main Street, but worth the time to find it. Thanks! read more

I came here for lunch with my coworker based on his recommendation and was not disappointed! Yelp labels this place as "Mexican," but I didn't view it as that. Two of my coworkers had lunch here the previous week and each said it was excellent. I ended up ordering the spinach salad and my coworker ordered the soup of the day, which was asparagus. Food came out quickly and was delicious! My salad came with a vinaigrette, candied pecans, and caramelized fruit. I loved it. My coworker also said the soup was delicious. Our meal also came with bread, which was dry, and garlic butter, which was delicious. I was pleased with this place. In an area where food options are limited, I was pleased to find this to be a hidden gem. If ever back in the area I will definitely come here to eat. read more

Wow. Terrible service and food. Chicken Parmesan was so salty ot was inedible. A full hour to get food. We will never go back. Disgusting.

Cactus Grill - Mexican Near Me - Meridian, Texas

We ate at Cactus Grill last fall, and enjoyed the food, especially the chicken fried steak. This week we visited Meridian, and arrived at Cactus Grill at 11am and were the first diners when they opened. We placed our orders right away. Several people came in after us, and noticed that the waiter had served three other diners before us. After 35 minutes l asked when would our food be served and he said that he needed to check in the kitchen. Last year, we noticed the same issue, but since it was our first visit to this place, we were not too concerned, but today it was quite irritating, since the diners who came in after us ordered the same type of food which we had. Could it be that they are understaffed? My husband had been looking forward to eating here again, and almost left the place after waiting for more than 30 minutes for our food. read more

Pecan crusted pork was delicious as was the catfish. The ribeye was not as good. They smothered it with brown gravy that took away from the taste of the steak. Nice atmosphere. Takes awhile to get food, but it came out fresh and hot. Will definitely return when we are in town again. read more

This place is a hidden gem.. don't be afraid to drive a little off Hwy 6 try this place. It is worth the stop. This is not your typical mom and pop place in a small town. The chef/owner is obviously trained in his field. Everything we tried was delicious. Our party of 4 had the meatballs 2 different pasta dishes and the catfish. The FLAVORS were excellent. This will become a regular stop on our trups through the area..The desserts are fresh and made in house. I highly recommend the tres leches cake and the cream cheese vanilla flan read more
