Wife and I both loved this place. Sat at the bar and greeted immediately and given chips and salsa. Both were excellent. Chips were warm and thin which is how I like them. Salsa was also warm and had the perfect amount of spice. Ordered a prickly pear margarita which was delicious and I found out it was only $4 since it was happy hour which was a nice surprise. Ordered a small queso which came with pico. Both were delicious. Then ordered a small combo plate that included an enchilada, taco, beans, rice, and guacamole. Everything was perfect! Prices and service were also excellent! Only bummer is their upstairs outdoor patio is closed due to repairs, so hopefully that'll be completed soon once the weather is nice. Its a littke bit of a drive for me, but will definitely be going back often! read more

Ordered Carne Asada and I must say it's one of the best pieces of meat I've had in a while. Great beans and rice, thin light chips and good salsa. I usually stop here each time I drive through Hico and I'm never disappointed. Really good service too read more

The service is awful. Sat down for 15 20 minutes. No drink or food order. Got up and left bc i was tired of being ignored

The food is terrible, the quality of meat is horrendous. I spoke with the manager, Drew, and he was no help. I asked to speak to the owner and waited over 10 days before I called the manager back. Drew had no excuse he could provide for his employers lackadaisical attitude toward customer service. We will not be eating here ever again. Warning to anybody who enjoys good food, avoid this place like the plague! read more

Jersey Lilly's - This was the toughest cut of meat I have ever attempted to eat. Very disappointing! - Mexican Near Me - Hico, Texas

Needs a major clean from the front entry all the way to the restroom. Breakfast potatoes were doused in seasoning that made them inedible. Waitress was nice. read more

Service was great. Very nice employees. The table the sat us at was still dirty from last customers. Looked as if they just picked up the dishes but didn't wipe the table. We ordered appetizers. Both queso and guacamole. Queso was kinda cold. Looked as if it was just heated in the microwave as you can see in the picture. But tasted ok. Guac was good. Main dishes were tasteless however. I had a carne asada which looked great until tasting it. I also ordered it medium and it was damn near rare. Super raw and red in the middle. I will try somewhere else next time in town. They need to teach the cooks how to actually cook steak. Besides that just bring seasoning. read more

The food is amazing! They spend real quality time perfecting the dishes and making them the best they can be. The servers are very nice and welcoming very attentive and don't miss a beat. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the scenery is to die for. Overall this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while as well as some of the best food I've had in a while! P.S. The queso is amazing read more

I've eaten at JL for nearly 20 years. This review is a combined total review over that time. The food is always excellent. Always. Their quesadillas used to be amazing with mushrooms and steak, etc. but, even after they changed them, they are still excellent. That said, service has always been poor. Slow and inattentive, don't expect to be catered to very heavily when you go. If you want good food and don't care about good service, it may rank higher. If not, you won't be happy. That said, as a long-time diner growing up one town over, I know what to expect so it's never disappointing or a shock and the food is always great. read more

I have had multiple bad experiences but tonight was by far the worse. it took almost an hour to even get our appetizer after ordering, and even longer to get our meals. when the food came, my friends chicken was raw in her chicken bacon ranch sandwich. they did kindly removed it from our bill and our waitress was very kind, attentive and accommodating. All of us left left with upset stomaches despite eating entirely different meals. For the price of the food, the quality is horrendous. it's a nice place for just a drink but I'll never eat there again. read more

The fajitas were excellent and fairly priced. We were also given good service. It's A good place to eat and recommended.

Jersey Lilly's does a good job with traditional Tex Mex. Their tacos are great, and I especially like the shrimp and brisket options.

Wow! This place was on top of their game today! Had the 3- Fajitas for two of us and everything was on point! Also had wings, these were fresh, hot and tasty! The salsa had a little kick! The waitress was quick and very sweet. She sat us down quickly. This place was very clean, organized, tasty and the service was perfect! I was hesitant with all the reviews prior, but was pleasantly surprised that everything was delicious. We pass through every 2 weeks, so we will most definitely stop in for more! read more

the wife and I really enjoyed our experience today! the food was outstanding and the beer was deliciously cold! we both enjoyed our meals that had ground beef in them! (tacos and chimichanga) the chips and salsa were super good! our server, Sally, was attentive and fun to interact with! we suggest if you get anywhere near Hico, Texas go eat at Jersey Lilly's and check out the shops around Hico! read more

Don't. Eat. Here!!! My husband and I decided we would come back here and eat since the Iredell Cafe was closed this evening. We had eaten here over 4 years ago and thought what we ordered was tasty, sadly, we can't say that this evening. We both ordered the crispy beef tacos with rice and refried beans. The meal is just not up the standards of where we normally eat crispy beef tacos in Waco. The beef is pretty greasy, the rice and beans came out cold. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful though but that doesn't help the quality of food. read more

Stopped in a couple years ago while exploring downtown Hico. Has become a must stop now anytime we are passing through! The chicken flautas are the best anywhere I have had. Chicken is shredded, and has rich chicken flavor vs the chopped bland mush that is in many other texmex places. Yum! read more

We were pleasantly surprised with our visit tonight. Last time we were here it was over a year ago because we weren't that impressed. However, we had zero complaints. We had chicken flautas, chicken quesadillas, charo beans, combination fajitas margaritas, and Sopapillas everyone said they would order it again so that's a home run in my book! Presentation was also nice, sorry we forgot to take any pictures. Staff was attentive and got the orders right and kept up with any needs we had. Give them a try. We will obviously be back. read more

Traveling on our way to Fredericksburg we hit up this Mexican cafe on the corner of Hico downtown core. The staff were nice and let us sit anywhere we liked. The chips and salsa were a welcomed change as they were dusted with sw seasoning that paired well with tomato salsa. Cheese enchilada with chili con carne special were filling with rice and beans were well received. I had brisket tacos with flour tortillas, rice, and ranchero beans. I liked the rice the most but the beans were too watery imo. The brisket was a bit oily but were just average for me. I'd like to try their other traditional offerings like shredded chicken and seasoned beef. The very nice server and refills and specials pricing were a nice touch that confirmed we chose the right place for lunch. read more

Chips and salsa were good! I had the chicken poblano which was pretty tasty. It was accompanied by the standard rice beans and tortillas. Not a fan of the rice and beans. My wife like them. She had the flautas. Service was great! We would come back again. Beer on tap was good and cold. read more

our server Logan was awesome!!! great food, service, and ambiance! I will definitely be coming back here soon!

A little pricey for what you get and if you go in expecting Mexican it is not what you get. I don't even know if I would call the tacos Texmex. The food did taste good. They had the fans on high and both myself and my husband were so cold we could not wait to leave. The service is really slow and when we got there the place was not that busy. By the time we left the place was full. They did not seem to have enough help for how busy they were. Not a lot of choices in Hico and everything just seemed to run at their own pace. Had we not been freezing this may have not been so bad. read more

4.5 stars! This place is under new ownership (it used to be a 1 star) completely revamped and this is the best the food has ever been! The decor is so cute, the margaritas are delicious, excellent service and the combo fajitas were wonderful. Love the charro beans and the salsa was great too. So glad to have this place in Hico! read more

Have drove by this place for years and never thought of stopping in. Glad we finally decided to give it a go. Walking in the decor was super cute and the place was CLEAN. We were greeted and sat right away. Chips and salsa some of the very best around, margarita was excellent and hubby said, the best tacos he has had in years. Service was top notch. Definitely will be going back. read more

The menu was limited during my visit, and that's okay, a lot is going on these days (covid). The margarita was delicious but I was unimpressed with the food. Only ordered the Mexican layer dip appetizer because I wasn't into the entree options available, but it was runny and there wasn't anything exciting about it. This is more of a Tex Mex restaurant rather than a Mexican restaurant. read more

The chips & salsa was a 10/10!!!!! I got a steak fajita quesadilla w/ rice & beans, it was okay...the sides were cold/uncooked rice. Nothing bad ,but nothing amazing. The waitress was so kind & on it shoutout to her wish I got her name! Will come again for just the salsa! read more

Pretty good food but if you plan on getting a fajita chicken salad you're way better off ordering one to go. it's much bigger than if you order in the restaurant. The one they'll give you if you go there to eat is hardly bigger than a house salad that you'd eat before your meal. For $15 I'd expect more. Alcoholic drinks are pretty high too. $8 for a mimosa seems kinda rich. read more

From the time we walked in, we were impressed by this place. The dining area has been updated and is very attractive. We ordered the catfish special. I feel like this is 4.5 kind of place. Everyone at our table was happy with the food. I had the brisket taco which were a solid choice with its flavors. My wife was extremely happy with her carne asada and loved the guacamole. My daughter got the chicken fried steak. We all tried each others food and were really with everyone's food. The salsa had a nice Smokey flavor and overall the queso was solid. Our only real complaint was the queso was a bit runny but the flavor outweighed that. I would highly recommend if you are in the area. read more

The wait for the table was exceeded only by the wait for everything else. It took quite a while to get out drinks ordered, then longer to get them; it was two waters. The chips took forever as did the food. Everything tasted fine, but the service was extremely slow and inattentive. read more

Can't say anything about the food, as we never got to that. After sitting for 15 minutes watching the waitress wait on everyone around us and never acknowledging our family we got up and left. As we were walking out she finally decides to walk over and ask if we were ready to order. Now if the place was slammed it would of been more understandable, if we were ever even acknowledged, but it wasn't and we were seated by the kitchen/drink station watching the employees hanging out. read more
