I first started going to this Eggsmart while our kitchen was being renovated in 2009. I used to pass by on my way to work, and I think it had just recently opened, so I gave it a try. I continued going for a few years, maybe a dozen times, often being the first person there when it opened at 7am, so the service was fast and friendly. After moving away from the area, I returned this past week for the first time in many years, and found that much had changed. The decor was completely different; it used to be a plain open dining area with a few food pictures on the walls; now it has a divider down the center, with nicer furniture throughout, and somewhat resembles the Cora's in Scarborough. The service was okay, except that my scrambled eggs arrived sunny-side up instead. The menu is generally standard breakfast fare: egg breakfasts, omelettes and scramblers, various types of eggs benedict, waffles and French toast, along with some lunch plates and salads. There are a few twists, such as Montreal smoked meat hash and red velvet pancakes, and the Eggsmart poutine that I ordered. It was home fries mixed with eggs and bacon and cheese, and covered with hollandaise sauce. I enjoyed it, and it was definitely filling, and their coffee was pretty good too. Total bill came to $16, so about the same as many other breakfast places. Perhaps it was all the changes, and the fact that it was much busier than I was used to, but overall my visit seemed less memorable than previously. Everything was okay, but no better than an average breakfast out for an average price. I'm sure I would return if I was still in the area, but don't think I would travel far just to go there. read more

So I got "hired" here last year, sometime In October. Despite asking for a proper hiring process with papers and signatures, I worked here for a week with absolutely no contract of any kind. I was payed under the table in cash and coins. The woman who owns the place is a decent lady, I can tell she's just trying to work hard for her kid. I enjoyed the little company I had with her when she half trained me on taking orders and working their systems and routines. On the other hand, her husband, the cook. He is something else. Genuinely the worst person I have ever worked with. He acts all smart when he can't even run his own POS system. EVERY DAY FROM 7am-3pm that week, I was left ALONE to - take all orders, in person, over the phone orders, and packing all uber orders - Make all the drinks, including smoothies - clean all dishes, and put them back dry (they have a limited amount, so I was rushing to keep them in cycle) - take food to all customers tables - cleaning off plates , sweeping, sanitizing and re set every table after every customer (so many huge kid messes cover the floor from breakfast and lunch) - bathroom checks are never able to be done - they re use so much stuff. The ice coffee is never fresh. Month old in the fridge. - I literally saw the women have to bring her small kid into the back to stay the whole shift and wait. I felt bad and stayed, even though they never properly hired me. - a customer found a piece of plastic in her 10 year old sons food. When I told the cook, he did nothing and shrugged it off. Leaving me to apologize for his mistake. Eventually I got sick of the old cooks nagging and blaming me for customers leaving or hating the food/ service. I left mid shift, never looked back. UNDERSTAFFED AND OVERWORKED. UNDERPAID for the amount of work I did ALONE. Refusing to hire more than one person for a whole restaurant is wild. Business will stay horrible with that guy around. Sure it gets busy, it's an Eggsmart. Although, almost every customer leaves with a grumpy face and wasted time sitting at the table to just make an order. I recommend to never eat here, no idea how old the food is, or what else they're being cheap with. -1/5 restaurant read more

Second chance under new management. Not so great first time. Busy for a Sunday afternoon. While waiting for 2 more people, cold water in a bottle and 3 glasses came quickly. Coffee as well. Walked in to a new SERVER. Noticing my first seating choice was dirty. Placed order asked NEW SERVER to repeat the order. Was repeated CORRECTLY. Five minutes after order placed - Drinks placed W/Dirty Glasses - Smoothie was amazing surprisingly (Due to having to ask for a different smoothie in the passed) Our food comes missing condiments and complete simple introductions. Whipped cream, Cinnamon, and syrup- NO MAYO ON BLT NO SAUCE NOTHING - was told butter was added to the bread. My partner didn't ask for a substitute nor did they informed about the added component. I ordered an avocado toast with MAYO ON THE BREAD, SLICED AVOCADO W/ FOUR SLICES OF BACON ON TOP They gave me guacamole OH the mayo was there too n the bacon. Lol Brought it back they gave me this . My partner didn't get back his order yet I felt disappointed and disrespected due to being a loyal customer at this location. Ordered a Buy One Get One special, Chicken Tenders and Fries for a decent price, well the "chicken" was not tender at all, it was the texture of cardboard, and shriveled and tiny, and by "tiny" I mean there were 3 pieces, each the size of my thumb. The french fries were actually really good but the 2nd order in the 2 for 1 special had these really poorly cut, underseasoned "homefries" that were not cooked properly, like, they were cold and starchy and flavorless and were not eaten, somehow managed to be worse than the miniscule portion of cardboard flavored chicken nuggets that I am horrified a chicken actually sacrificed its life in a chicken mill just to be cooked to the point of being cardboard and having people purchase it in a 2 4 1 special. read more

My wife and I had lunch at the new Eggsmart at the corner of o'Connor and Donlands. The waitress was friendly and I got a good cup of coffee. I had a Meat Lovers Omelette and she had Simply Two Eggs. Great portion, flavour and done just right. We would very likely return again. read more

Great breakfast been here maybe 6 times. Usually get classic, have gotten the eggs benny poutine once too and was shared between 2 ppl. Early bird special is a good deal if you make it before 10AM . Food is average nothing to write home about. My "extra fruit" bowl wasn't too fresh and there was some brown stuff laced through it, I think it was Nutella..? Not very appetizing. We found a very dirty fork that was with fresh cutlery, a little scary for hygiene. Server is nice and attentive made sure she checked on us frequently. The fresh orange juice was lovely. One of my co-workers recommended Egg Smart to me, pitching it as "better than Cora's and cheaper!", so I had to give it a shot. There are multiple locations of this brunch chain but I went to this one because there was parking and it's close to my house. The menu is far inferior to that of Cora's, it just didn't make want to eat everything available on the menu. I was looking for a dish that would give me mounds of fruit, but there was none of that. I don't recommend going here if you're trying to get a tasty, but light brunch. They just had the usual eggs, omlettes, bacon, sausages, pancakes, french toast, etc. Their fruit turned out to be a thin slice of cantaloup and a thin slice of orange - very disappointing. If this was the free breakfast at a hotel, it'd be acceptable but nothing about this menu impressed me. The place looked like the inside of a Coffee Time and we weren't even sure if there was table service at first. I've been to the O'Connor location of Eggsmart once, but have been to other locations as well. They're a great chain of restaurants that serve good food for not a lot of money. They serve only breakfast type items, but that's okay with me! Service is a little weird. I don't think the waiters have specific tables, but it seems to work for them. The only downside to Eggsmart is that they're only open till 3pm, so you can't go there for dinner. read more

This place is like a McDonald's brunch. It might fill you up, but you feel ill afterwards. It completely negates all the excellent, independent little brunch places in the city that make fresh, great food for barely a noticeable prize difference. To start off with our experience with eggsmart is the glasses we were served our water in was dirty, and to go along with that I found a hair in my eggs Benedict. after complaining about the hair, my eggs were replaced, but not before a food service delivery guy was yelled at for asking how long the food he was sent to pick up was going to be. it seemed very disorganized and poorly managed, with only two people there the whole time. My boyfriend said his scrambled eggs tasted rubbery like a tire, and my eggs and hollandaise sauce made the English muffin wet from all the excess oil. everything was lukewarm and eggs had a weird aftertaste. the only thing good about this place was the fries, the waitress was rude and another couple at another table also looked dissatisfied. read more

Bad experience! 2 stars because the food wasn't horrible, it was just okay. The waitress was taking our orders and walked away mid-sentence to go talk to another waitress. After she did take our orders, she gave our food to another table by accident. The other guests didn't realize and started eating our food, when we saw and said something to the waitress, she tried to give us the already eaten plates of food! We actually had to ask her to give us another plate. After the long wait for our food, it was nothing special, just OK. She was also cleaning tables behind us and sprayed my back with a vinegar cleaning spray and my shirt smelled so bad afterwards. When we tried to get the bill and a take out box, we asked twice while seated. We saw her standing around not doing anything for a while, and so I got up and asked her again. She said okay. More standing around and then I got up another time to ask her, she said okay and then asked me what table it was for. 30 minutes after we had initially asked, she finally brought the bill - but not the take out box. We waited another 10 minutes for her to bring it. The total was $65 for 2 adults and 2 small children.....not worth it at all. Ridiculous experience! Won't be coming back....the worst part about this is that it wasn't even busy. At most, the place was half full. read more

I had one of the best breakfasts ever. We didn't wait too long for our food at all, and the server consistently checked in to make sure everything was ok with us. I go to this place once a week because it is the only thing close by open at 7 a.m. and offers a free Toronto Star. While there is lots to complain about, and some things to compliment, the worst part is the cook(s). The waitresses are actually relatively friendly and efficient but the cooks screw up the order all the time, and take forever to make the food (maybe this is just in the morning when I go, and they are just late in starting the grill?) I had one waitress call him out on it, and he started yelling at her in greek. Needless to say when I do, I always make sure to give the waitresses a good tip, because I am convinced the horrendous service and subpar food is not their fault. While getting the worst part over, even on great days the food is sub-par compared to O'Connor Station just down the road and is more expensive on weekday mornings (atleast for now). But O'Connor station doesn't open till 8:30 a.m. so if I want an early breakfast close by I have to go to Eggsmart. Maybe I should start learning how to make eggs benny at home. read more

Absolutely disgusting. I have been here 3 times. I grew up in the restaurant business so after my first experience (terrible) I gave the benefit of the doubt because I know what it's like to have an off day. My first time there, they forgot the pancakes for 4 out 5 of our guests. When we FINALLY got their attention they blamed us for not telling them sooner. The second time they forgot 3 coffees, same result. (With the owner being the one to yell at us). Yesterday, I brought to their attention that there was a hair in 2 out of 3 of our breakfasts, and because we has mentioned we had a coupon before the meal, I was accused by the owner of trying to get our whole meal free and being cheap. (I did not eat my meal because I was so disgusted). To be treated that way and to have the unsanitary hair in our meals too, is disgusting. The owners do not know how to run a business. I can't wait until this place closes down and something better opens up. Definitely will not be back, and will be informing everyone I know! read more
