First time at Eggcellent Cafe and it was a really solid way to start a Sunday morning. My wife and I dined in and I was honestly surprised by how quiet it was. No packed entryway, no feeling rushed, just a relaxed vibe that made it easy to actually enjoy the meal. I ordered the chicken fried steak with pancakes, which is pretty much my benchmark order anywhere that offers it. Portions were generous and everything came out quickly. The pancakes were exactly what you want from a breakfast spot and the chicken fried steak hit that comfort food lane without feeling heavy or sloppy. Where they really shined was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and clearly on top of things. Food came out fast, drinks stayed filled, and it never felt chaotic or disorganized. That kind of consistency goes a long way for me, especially at breakfast spots where timing and flow matter. All that said, it lands firmly at four stars for me. The food was good and the experience was smooth, it just didn't quite cross into that five star, must go out of your way territory. And that's okay. I'm a big fan of diner-style brunch spots, so I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the service fell flat from the start. We were kinda sorta greeted by a young hostess who seemed unsure of what to do. Moments later, an older woman came up and dressed her down in front of us for stepping away to check on our table. It was awkward, unprofessional, and set a tense tone. She then led us to our table, grumbling the whole way about the girl, who was apparently a daughter of one of the waitresses. It was all too much information and not exactly the warm welcome you hope to start brunch. The food was decent but took longer than expected, and there were misses along the way. The bacon wasn't crispy (my personal cardinal sin for any breakfast spot), and overall service felt inattentive. Hubby and I arrived on a Sunday for brunch and the place was packed. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with eggs, hashbrowns, and a pancake. The eggs were the best I've ever eaten (no lie). I am honestly baffled by the high ratings. Was this just a bad day for us? We had the eggselent skillet and eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict was the worst I have ever had. The highlight of the dish was the poached egg. The hollandaise was extremely thick and overpowering, the Canadian bacon had no flavor, and the only other flavor was coming from the stale muffin drenched in cheap butter. The hashbrowns -- I understand they are not supposed to have much flavor, but please put some salt and pepper there (or borrow from the hollandaise). They looked nothing like the eggs Benedict photo that comes up for this restaurant on yelp. As for the skillet, nothing special, but the accompanying pancakes were disappointingly stodgy. Also, everything smelt of old fat. The service was okay, food came in time, the place was clean etcetera. I ordered food from here on door dash, hoping it would come the way it was supposed to. I have never had an issue with receiving the wrong food or wrong order. But I received a completely wrong order that was not mine. I spent 60 dollars on food here and they gave the dasher the wrong order that had maybe half the food that I was supposed to get. This was very disappointing since I paid for food and didn't even get it. Food was marginal. Don't pay for the bananas foster pancakes. It's an up charge of $2.50 for 6 slices of banana and a tablespoon of bottled caramel sauce squirted over the top. It's ridiculous how they automatically charged 22% gratuity when the server barely pay attention on our table, forgot to bring my coffee and forgot one of our dish. When we got there we noticed the place wasn't busy. That should have been our first clue. There was 5 of us. One of the kids ordered a waffle. Nothing special just a typical doughy waffle. They charged us $10 dollars for it. Then we found a really long hair in one of our pancakes. Was at least 8 inches long. It was a black hair and everyone at our table had blonde hair. Then the manager came by and made excuses for her cooks and said none of them have long hair. Her idea of fixing the problem was comping one meal and giving us new pancakes. I ordered the Salmon Benedict and I'm uncertain if I have food poisoning now. The salmon was very very gross and had frozen-like qualities. Hash browns were blah. Restaurant was dirty, waitresses did not ask us how the food was, and the prices were a bit too high for the quality that was presented. Had a chance to eat here on two mornings last week. Food and service was great. Had the biscuits with cream gravy (they also have sausage gravy) and a side of bacon on the first visit. Wife had breakfast tacos. Second visit I repeated my meal. I knocked my drink over onto my bacon plate. My server quickly helped me clean up and brought me a fresh drink and fresh bacon! This is a 2.5 star review - in summary, this is an average breakfast place (humbly my opinion of course). Pretty decent coffee, friendly staff and servers, but the food is underwhelming. My omelette used sliced cheese (good places use shredded), hash browns were underdone and a lot of salt/pepper/ketchup was needed to add flavor. For the same price, Original Pancake House off DNT & 121 is worth the extra 15 minute drive for a much better breakfast experience. Don't waste your calories on an average meal. read more

This is our first time trying this place as it attracted our attention due to the many selections of food items on the menu. I went with the veggie omelette and a side of very berry pancakes and OMG the delicacy of both food items are SPLENDID. The omelette was cooked to perfection topped with some side avocado and filled with peppers,tomatoes,Spinach etc. it left me wanting more but it was extremely filling. The very berry pancakes were so delicious like something I've never had before the taste and texture of the pancakes were flavorful and delightful. Very disappointed in the lack of service and attention by service staff. We ended up leaving after waiting for almost 10 minutes after being seated. There were two servers and I'm guessing a host or maybe she was a busser, that basically just look in our direction but made no attempts to come to our table and there were only three tables with folks already eating.
