I've been meaning to try Egghead Sando Cafe for quite some time and I finally got the chance to try this place out! This is located right by Tastea on Capitol Expressway. This store is not too spacious but there's outdoor seating with plenty of tables as well. The Chic: 4.5/5 Chicken sandwiches are pretty good but some places tend to be on the dry side or even too salty due to too much seasoning. I actually really enjoyed this chicken sandwich because not only was it juicy, it tasted just like Taiwanese popcorn chicken but in a patty form! I absolutely enjoyed this and the veggies really paired well with it too. I would definitely order this again. Strawberry Hojicha Latte: 3/5 I don't normally order Hojicha lattes as I prefer it in a soft-serve form when it's less strong, especially the one from Matcha Love. However, this Hojicha latte was so creamy and delicious and the strawberry paired really well with the roasted tea flavor. This is one of the better Hojicha lattes I've had so far. read more

This place has really good sandwiches. I ordered the Side Chic with grilled chicken, bacon, over medium egg, tomato, arugula, and chimichurri sauce. I couldn't really taste the arugula, but I appreciated it. The whole sandwich was a burst of flavor from the sauce to the chicken, egg, bacon, and tomato. Service was fast once I arrived. Great food for a pretty good price! I went here with my mom and we shared the side chic sandwich and the egghead salad. The food was fresh, yummy, and pretty healthy. The sandwich was a bit difficult to eat because it was so tall but it was okay. The interior was a medium size so we were able to find seating. There's also outside seating for more space. We usually come here, but today was extremely disappointing. Like any other day, we placed our order: two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and two orange juices. After placing the order, we waited over 30 minutes with no update. We were understanding at first, assuming it was busy. When we finally checked in, the employees told us they were barely going to start making our order and apologized for forgetting to send it through. Unfortunately, we had an appointment and were already going to be late, so we asked for a full refund. As a courtesy, the employee offered to let us take the orange juices while they processed the refund. By that point, the juices were already watered down from sitting so long. Their system was down, so they took our phone number to process the refund later. We were shocked to later receive only a partial refund because the owner decided we shouldn't get a full refund since we took the orange juices. This felt unfair given that the delay and mistake were entirely on their end. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service, especially for regular customers. read more

I tried Egghead for the first time when they were located in Cupertino but they now moved to San Jose. I am super disappointed by the location change because it is now so much farther away and I won't be able to have it as often. This place is delicious and I crave it often! My go to is always the B.E.C. and Hojicha Latte! I really like breakfast style sandwiches and the flavor is amazing! The Hojicha Latte is to die for - so fragrant and delicious! I have tried the The Chic before but sometimes the chili powder can be super overpowering and the arugula can be somewhat bitter. This sandwich definitely has a kick to it and you really have to be in the mood for it to order. The San Jose location is definitely an upgrade to the Sunnyvale one in terms of parking and abundant of seating - indoor and outdoor. The staffs are all so friendly! I highly recommend this place. We came on Sunday around 11am and it was really busy. We ordered the scramble sandwich which was really good. It had grilled onion and house sauce which tied the whole sandwich together. We also ordered the chic sandwich which the chicken didn't have much flavor and it had little to no sauce. Both sandwiches were also a little on the colder side, but it may have been due to how busy they were. The strawberry matcha and waffles fries were really good. I've always seen this place featured on my Instagram feed, and I'm not a morning person but I finally decided it's time that I try out this place. I finally woke up in time to get ready and stop by since they close at 3pm! The parking here is really easy to find since it is located within a huge plaza so there shouldn't really be a problem, and there are also electric car chargers here as well. The spot inside gave me a cafe vibe and there were some tables and chairs for people to sit by and eat or wait for their order. There is a kiosk you can order from or a team member can assist you with your order. The service was very quick and staff members were very nice--shoutout to the guy with the tan hat and black piercings who served me today! Everyone had amazing customer service, such as welcoming us in and bringing our order to our table. Today I ordered their B.E.C and fresh milk with strawberry puree drink. The sandwich was wrapped nicely with parchment paper and it was easy to hold. The sandwich was not too overpowering or greasy at all. However, there were some spots in my sandwich that tasted extremely dry. The drink was honestly whatever, it was just fresh milk and strawberry puree after all. I honestly think that the sandwiches are pretty expensive for what you're asking for (I paid somewhere around $10 for my sandwich alone), but I think that Egghead Sando Cafe is worth trying. I was looking for a place to sit down and pass some time, as I came to San Jose to visit my friend, but she was still delayed at work. I came by around 4PM on Friday and it was empty, so I ordered a strawberry matcha latte and sat down. It was quite hot, so the AC and cold drink was appreciated. They also had WiFi which was a plus! I wish the matcha was stronger, but it was nonetheless very refreshing on a hot day. The price of it was average in comparison to most places. [The Chic sandwich] 5/5 One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. I prefer it over Hot boys in Oakland and southern comfort kitchen in CV. I think it's because it's very reminiscent of my childhood since the chicken is like a giant fat popcorn chicken! It was super juicy, and huge. The price is very fair for how big the sandwich is, and I even saved half of it for my friend. She agreed that it was really good even though it was cold by the time she got to eat it. The Chic Sando: This was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting your typical fried chicken or chicken katsu style sando but it was prepared in a way that is similar to Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Nice seasonings and texture. I used to go to this location for Egghead very often with friends and family but the establishment has not been the same as time has gone on and the overall quality continues to diminish. The overall place is small and tall. You can see them making your food. There are only a couple chairs inside but plenty outside. The food has been relatively the same and across all locations, their menu and food quality is consistent. Unfortunately, this location has one of the worst wait times on earth. During rush times, it seems like the staff are scrambling to get their stuff together. The cooks are confused while the front staff only have to worry about drinks and assembly. Even so, their assembly line is never in order when I come in and my food takes 40+ minutes to come out. There was an incident a couple months back where my order took 1 hour+ to come out. I ordered a couple of items, but somehow a lot of orders that came after mine were served first. Upon asking them where my order was, the front staff only assured me that mine would come next for 20+ minutes straight. When my order was ready, the front staff did not call it out to us, so we waited extra until I reached out and asked once again. Ordering online does not help either. The wait times are just as atrocious and never come out on time. I recommend going to the Santa Teresa location or just any other location than this one. read more

Great place if you wanna treat yourself. Definitely would recommend to eat these sandwiches there as they taste the best warm and fresh. I got the breakfast burger which was actually really good, it did not need any extra condiments. The bun is super fluffy. The eggy probably is their most popular item but I was a bit underwhelmed from it. The bread wasn't toasted well and the base of the dip felt like clam chowder with an egg on top which I wasn't expecting. It is a nice size for a snack but k probably wouldn't order the eggy again. The food is good, like many of the reviews below have stated but the wait times are ATROCIOUS. I understand max of 30 minutes on a busy day but I came in and ordered two basic sandwiches (The Scramble w/ Sausage) and waited for 40 minutes. When I asked around the 35 minute mark, they mentioned they were waiting for a "few items" when I ordered two things. I don't blame the workers there but Egghead's practice (and probably a lot of restaurants do this too) of prioritizing DoorDash orders and not in-house orders. You can't have people wait 40 minutes for your food and then offer nothing for the wait. For reference, I was Order #138 and the order I recall hearing after I ordered was #132. I've heard this place moved the previous Cupertino location, closer to where I live. So I decided to check it out again. After reading some reviews, I went with the Hojicha Latte w/ almond milk and a Hawaiian Morning Sandwich. I got the Hojicha Latte because someone mentioned it tasting like a milk tea and I liked the idea of it. Indeed, it does taste like a good milk tea lol. The Hawaiian morning sandwich had spam which I wanted to try because I wanted something other than a beef patty or popcorn chicken piece. It was so good, and had a little spice kick to it. I am not sure what spicy sauce is in it but it blended well with the fried egg and spam. There's plenty of parking in this plaza and although there's limited seating inside, it's very well decorated. Let's make it to Egghead Sando Café!! New location opened up near home and always wanted to try it. Conveniently located near home and a ton of parking locations! Walked in and had a very warm greeting by "Cachy". Not many places do this but she new we were new here and helped us out. It felt nice walking into a new place and having that sense of an adventure. Menu on the wall is a great idea for wall decorations. If you want a more detailed menu they have one near the register. Cachy even walked to food out to us which was very kind, especially with all the pick ups going on. A lot of people order Togo or via apps. We ordered the Breakfast burger which is pretty tasty and the egghead salad. I like my burgers a bit saucy so ask for extra sauce or sauce on the side. The salad has options to add more but truthfully the bacon is more than enough. A great balanced portion, but something we didn't see was the Tatar tots or waffle fries. I stopped in here FINALLY after seeing it listed for months and months. As a breakfast lover and a sandwich lover and a coffee lover, this place really covers all the bases. I had a Chic (fried chicken with egg and arugula), an Ultimate Sando (basically a sausage, egg, and cheese), and an oat milk latte. I started with the fried chicken sandwich, and the pictures really didn't portray the size of this sandwich well. It's big. Not huge, but big. You don't need two sandwiches here. The fried chicken, with a very light and crispy crust, wasn't that juicy but it was very tender. The egg added some richness, the hint of spicy mayo helped balance the flavor, and the arugula... well, I guess it added some fiber. Which is important. But ultimately I don't think it added anything. After eating this, I was then looking at the Ultimate Sando, which is also a big sandwich. And I realized I shouldn't have ordered two, but I'm so used to minuscule portions that I didn't trust it would be sufficient for lunch. Anyway. The sandwich is so well constructed, despite having soft scrambled eggs inside. It would be easy to make a sandwich where one bit squishes out all the egg, but I don't think I lost any during the journey from hand to tummy. I credit the very well chosen and very soft bread. It was so light and airy and biting it didn't compress the rest of the sandwich, avoiding the toothpaste effect that Dutch crunch lovers will be familiar with. The salty, well-seasoned sausage was also tender, and the mashed avocado added some freshness and additional creaminess to the experience. The oat milk latte was also good, and very creamy. You won't miss the dairy. Overall I really don't think I've had better breakfast sandwiches. Okay, fried chicken is a bit of stretch for breakfast - but for brunch? This place is perfect. If you've ever been to Eggslut, the concept is pretty much the same in which there are soft scrambled eggs in different variations over a brioche bun. They even have their version of a poached egg served with a side of toast. I got the scramble sandwich and It was pretty much just egg and cheese sandwich -I thought it was okay. The egg was cooked perfectly however it tasted a bit bland and needed salt and pepper. The brioche bun however was delicious. Reminded me of a Hawaiian bun. The Hojicha Latte was practically a milk tea which kinda threw me off. I should have known by the description of the beverage but I idk what I thought it would be lol. I was excited to come to this new location, but I found it to be pretty average? It was my first time trying Egghead and I came on a Thursday afternoon. It was pretty crowded and all the interior tables were taken, but luckily one opened up. I ordered the Chic Sandwich + Hojicha Latte. Chic Sandwich: 4/5 This was a pretty HUGE sandwich. (I literally couldn't fit it in my mouth haha.) I liked the texture of the chicken, which was really crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I'm usually pretty sensitive to spicy foods, but the spice level was perfect for me. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was a little dry? There isn't really any sauce on it and there was a ton of leaves that left the sandwich feeling unbalanced (with more leaves than meat). It's also pretty expensive, at almost $10 per sandwich. Hojicha Latte: 1/5 I'm not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed with this one. It was really bland and tasted watered down when I got it. Definitely needed more flavor in there. Not too sure why it's called a "breakfast" burger when it had everything of a regular burger. Anywho, the BEC had lots of bacon and egg. The bacon was crispy, a tad too burnt. Their minimalist décor is pretty slick and clean, so all in all it seems like a pretty swell place to hang out. Parking is pretty easy in the massive parking lot, but the first-come-first-served seating is a bit more limited. There's both inside and outside options but only a couple tables worth (and the outdoor ones aren't all covered), so there's a chance you'll need to wait for seats or end up eating in the car like a number of folks I saw. Service was polite, and quick to answer questions and make corrections (we got the wrong item and they fixed it immediately). Expect to place an order up front and get a number called out for your order; it likely won't take long though since our order came out in record time (maybe 3 minutes tops?). Their sandwiches seem to cover quite a wide range of flavors, but of course the main attraction is their pervasive use of eggs. We settled on the Ultimate Sando and their Breakfast Burger, waffle fries, and a Strawberry Matcha Latte. ==Waffle fries== Surprisingly good with a *very* nice and crispy flavorfulness that I could just eat them straight up without sauces. Seasoned pretty well and make for an easy recommend. ==Breakfast Burger== A pretty swell savory bloom with arugula to contrast with all the other elements working in the sandwich. Less burger and closer to breakfast sausage though, so I couldn't taste a difference between this and the Ultimate sando in that regard. The medium egg helped the onion/mayo blend into a very creamy and rich bite. The brioche bun was a fluffy buttery delight that wrapped the 'burger' in its warmth. ==Ultimate Sando== Definitely highlights the egg extremely well, because it's stellar. Maximum fluff and bursting with flavor. Tasted like a glorious sausage omelet wrapped in an airy buttery blanket of comfort carbs. I found it to be worth the more premium price of entry, and definitely more filling as well. ==Strawberry Matcha Latte== Nice blend that makes for a fruity and refreshing matcha, but definitely on the mild sweetness. Great for more Asian tastes that don't like their tea sweetened a lot (namely me); not enough sugar for those used to Frappuccino levels of sugar. Back at the Cupertino location, I had The Scramble, and it was pretty good. Now that it opened up around Communication Hills, I decided to try out The Chic since it appears to be a popular sando. It was absolutely massive, and I couldn't finish it in one sitting, so I ate half. The chicken was crispy but a bit dry as well so I ate it with ketchup. Although it wasn't like a regular burger, some pickles would be nice for some crunch. I didn't see side chic on the menu from the other location, so I had to order online for pick up at this location. Side chic- $10.99 This one is better than the chic. The difference is in the grilled chicken. It was so good that I forgot I was sharing with someone else. The Chic- $9.75 The arugula was really strong in this one. Maybe they put too much. FOOD: - Hawaiian Morning: Tasted exactly how it sounds. A bit too much arugula for my liking, but not a big deal since it's easy to take out. 4/5. - The Chic: HUGE and tasted just like popcorn chicken you'd get at boba shops. It's worth the buck, but it's also hard to eat given how big it is. 4.5/5. - Breakfast Burger: Simple and also tasted exactly how it sounds. 4.5/5. - Waffle Fries: Not as crispy as we would like and it was overly salted. 1.5/5. - Vietnamese Cold Brew Coffee: Decent Viet coffee that goes well with the sandwiches. 3.5/5. SERVICE: Service was decent. There was no one standing at the cash register for a while, but someone eventually came by to take our order. Also super random, but they keep one of the doors locked, but everyone who entered kept pulling the locked door on the right--maybe they should have that door unlocked instead of the left door lol. Came here with my sister after a recommendation from a good friend and left feeling a-okay. Egghead is located in the same plaza as Aquis and Cha Cha sushi, specializing in egg-focused sandwiches and non-eggy drinks. We ordered: Eggy - a cute jar of poached egg atop mushed potato with chives. It also comes with 5-6 lil crostinis to dip into. Taste-wise was good, but texture-wise personally wasn't for me. The Chic - basically a giant popcorn chicken sandwich with an egg that we forgot was even in there. Definitely needed to season the chicken more and needed more sauce as well. Strawberry hojicha - just.... A weird taste and barely any tea flavor The service is way slow and with the line forming out the door, it seemed like there was no sense of urgency to get the line moving. I watched multiple staff move like the sloths in Zootopia when asking for extra dip. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back for the things I've already ordered.
