This egg waffle place is very popular! I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a short line up. The line moved quickly and when it was my turn, I placed my order for one durian egg waffle and one original egg waffle. I also chose to pay an extra $3.99 and ordered the mango pomelo sago drink (only available as an add-on). I probably waited between 6-8 minutes for my order. They call out your order number when it's ready for pick up. We went to the food court to find a seat (there is no seating here, counter only to order your HK style egg waffles for takeaway), and I got into the durian one right away. It was so crispy on the outside and once bitten into, the gooey durian filling was heavenly. The original is just as delicious & the mango pomelo sago drink is probably the best I've had. There are instructions on the bag for reheating. I did follow it the next day since I didn't finish everything...1-2 minutes at 325 Fahrenheit. I found that it took longer for me but that's fine. A friend from New York recommended Eggette Hut and said she hasn't found anything better in NYC and LA. So of course I had to give it a try. My husband got durian (I'm not a fan of durian) and he loved it. I got the matcha one and it was delicious and not too sweet! I really want to try the salted egg yolk and brown sugar mochi next time. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and it has just the right flavour to keep u addicted. I do think the one at Pacific Mall is still the best when it comes to egg waffles, but I think Eggette Hut is a close second. What I really want to point out here is the drinks. After trying their original and matcha bubble waffles, I think I'd still with the original. Feeling peckish and had a quick treat with their classic egg waffle. I like that they are made to order and comes piping hot. Even though it was very busy, they cranked through their orders quickly and it is only about a 15min wait. The egg waffle is soft and mildly sweet, while the bits in between are crisp and crunchy. Part 4 of many in my series called eating though the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) TL/DR: Game changer! If you've never tried an egg waffle before this is the place you need to check out. Better than any place in LA, SF, and NYC in my opinion. Don't get the normal/traditional, get one that's filled because of their diverse collection of flavors. The service can be a little slow and they can go from not busy to swamped fast. They can answer any questions and offer suggestions if you really get stuck. It's not a dine in place so I can necessarily comment on the ambiance. However, the machines look clean and the egg waffles are prepared fresh. Fillings we tried: coconut, red bean, and durian. In order of our top choice: 1. If you're a fan of durian you must try the durian filled egg waffles. The egg waffle was crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and each one filled with the perfect amount of durian. When enjoyed fresh, the durian is warm and is almost custard like. If you've never had durian, warning for many there is a pungent sulfur-like smell and the texture isn't enjoyed by everyone. This is NOT recommended to eat before/during a date or important social gathering. But if you're feeling adventurous or like durian you should get this! 5/5 2. The red bean filling is delicious. If you're a fan of Chinese/Japanese/Korean desserts with red beans you will enjoy this very much! The perfect balance of not too sweet regarding the red bean filling and the same texture as described above: crunchy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. 5/5 3. The coconut filling was the least favorite of the 3 we ordered. I'm normally a big fan of coconut but I felt like it made the egg waffles really dry. With so many different egg waffle stores lately, Eggette Hut will always have a special place in my heart hahah. They are known for having filling in each of the bubbles. My go to flavour is coconut where there is a bit of coconut pudding in each bite. The salted egg yolk is pretty good as well. I tried the cream corn soup one and it was very... interesting. I think I definitely prefer the sweeter ones over savoury flavours! Overall the egg waffles are crispy on the outside and nice and pillowy on the inside. I also got the grapefruit green tea and the lemon iced tea. 1) Original Egglet The egg waffles came after about five minutes (it was quite busy and the lady said it would take around that time). They had a heat lamp to keep it nice and warm. They were soft and tasty and I wish I got another one with filling (I saw a lot of people getting the mochi and the strawberry one as well). 2) Grapefruit Green Tea The grapefruit green tea had a good flavour but even though I asked for less sugar, I still found it to be sweet. It comes with coconut jelly. 3) Lemon Iced Tea I enjoyed this drink more than the grapefruit. It wasn't too pricey either (just like their HK milk tea). This is my first time trying Hong Kong style eggettes from Eggette Hut. It's little more than a stand inside of First Markham Place but it does both waffles and drinks. You can get the egg waffles in different flavours like matcha and chocolate which are only marginally more expensive than the original. In terms of pricing - one waffle turned out to be $4 which is more than what they charge at Tung Tung and way less tasty. These ones were crispier and thinner like air. It wasn't enough waffle if you know what I mean. If you can get to a Tung Tung (there's one in P Mall), I'd recommend that. read more

It is a bit pricier than the other flavours on the menu ($5.75 vs. $4.87), but that was expected. First off, made fresh to order so you can expect these egg waffles to be pipping hot (unless you've been roaming around the mall and picked it up half an hour later). I was honestly surprised by the flavour as I could definitely taste the salted egg yolk. Portion size is pretty big for one person as well, though I would suggest to share. Don't make the same mistake as I did and eat it very quickly (not a meal replacement snack). It's quite addicting but also makes you feel very bloated afterwards. Overall, I'll say it's a very affordable snack to get for yourself or family or a couple. Expect a longer wait on weekends, as this place gets quite busy in the afternoon. We purposely had lunch in the area, did some shopping and sure enough, two hours later, I had a craving! Simon was super helpful while I considered the choices. I finally decided on matcha, with dollops of matcha jam from Japan. The waffles are made to order, so I waited patiently while watching with curiosity. Finally, I was handed a bag and my better half said to let it cool down a bit, but I took a nibble anyhow. HOT! You might want to wait ... just saying! The waffles had a very strong matcha taste, but not overwhelming. I did find them a tad sweet and a bit dry on the inside, however, the spheres were quite crispy on the outside. We also ordered the durian flavor. They make the durian paste each morning by blending durian pulp to a smooth consistency. Each sphere has a generous portion of paste. I actually detest durian, the smell alone is super strong, but my partner loves it. I had a tiny bite, and still hated it. Durian is definitely an acquired taste! I tried the cheese bubble waffle and it was great. It was $5.31, so an even $6 after taxes. The waffle was crispy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside with some gooey cheese inside. The batter had a good cheese flavour to it as well. They have a combo deal where for $2 more you can get a drink. I thought I could get a slush drink, which sell for $4+ on their own, but was told I could only choose from one of 4 drinks that usually go for $2.85. So you really only save $0.85 with the combo. Love their mango sago slush and original bubble waffle combo! For $8.50 after tax, it's an extremely great deal considering you get a tasty afternoon snack along with a large sized dessert in a cup! The mango sago is a bit thicker in texture so it's a meal of its own. Very yogurty and mangoy with sweet mango slices and pomelo bits throughout. Sometimes I do find the sago to be still frozen as they don't prepare the drink fresh anymore. But the taste is still great and refreshing regardless. I love their original bubble waffles. They were so good when eaten right after they are made. They put them in a paper bag with holes to let the heat escape. The ube was really good. They filled it with ube that was like thick pudding. So you actually had ube in the one or two bites. It oozed out with the first bite. The one thing was that filling wasn't completely encompassed by the waffle. I've visited here a few times since my last review and somehow, I'm liking their products more and more. Personally, I come here for their HK waffles only but they now also offer other drinks and desserts as well. MATCHA: its matcha flavor is strong and evident, shining through beautifully with each bite. I also like that the overall sweetness is minimal so you're not hit with sugar after having a large share and also allows the flavor to come through better. 2. CHEESE: I love this waffle when I'm feeling the need for a savoury treat! If lt is stuffed with cream cheese and then topped with cheddar cheese so YAS, there is enough cheese. With so many egg waffle places nowadays and all having these fancy flavours, I definitely had to go for the more unique durian and black sesame. At the moment, when you buy two waffles you get a free drink valued at 2.95, so hk milk tea/ lemon iced tea/ honey lemonade/ and another drink. Service was good, and they were very polite. Durian - I really enjoyed it. Good amount of durian flavour and tastes fresh with a hint of sweetness and rich durian flavours. The waffle itself had a slight crisp on the outside and soft inside. The waffles are quite filled with durian cream, so I would say you get more of the cream than the regular waffle batter, but I didnt mind at all. Black Sesame - this one was nice too. instead of just sesame seeds, the egg waffle itself was black I.e. they probably used either sesame paste or ground up sesame mixed into the batter. There were no seeds but you can definitely taste the black sesame flavour. I would say pairing it with durian kind of covered the taste, so perhaps the black sesame should be eaten first. That being said, the filling inside seem to have melted, or there was less `flesh'/ batter inside. Still airy with soft inside and crispy outside. I prefer this type over the ones with sesame sprinkled. Overall, I think I'll need to try the original to truly say whether their egg waffles are good, as I feel like with these new flavours, you really are just eating it for that flavour and not necessarily for the waffle batter, if that makes sense.
