R: Tots; L: Avo Egg Sandwich
Michelle K.

Came by during the week for lunch. There are a couple of kiosks at the counter where you order from; no cashier to take your order but can help if assistance is needed. Kiosk = cashless. I ordered the Avo Egg sandwich and a side of Tots. The food was made pretty quick. The sandwiches are stuffed full of fluffy scrambled egg, contains a good amount of avocado, and there's a white mayo sauce that comes with it. It also comes with a sriracha aioli inside but I opted to get it on the side; which I never got. The flavor of the sandwich was a little plain for me so next time I'll have to make sure that I get the spicy sauce. The tots were really good, and super crispy! There are a lot of tables and chairs located inside, all of them were clean. There's a restroom available to customers. As for parking, there's tons!

Fuckin love breakfast sandwiches and this place does it right. A little pricey though, also too much ice in the drinks. Finished it in like 4 sips. So, 4/5. Bread was buttery, thick, nicely toasted, creamy sauces, cheese, egg, marinated beef patty, grilled onions, pickles, bacon... it all complements each other so well. I got the Spicy Royal West and added bacon. Side of fluffy egg tots. Solid. Egg was delicious. Can never go wrong with potatoes- especially tots. Iced matcha latte was alright, too milky. Would've liked more matcha. Lychee green tea was really good though.

I've always driven past here bc I live pretty close by but they close early so I never really had a chance to try it. But I finally got to try it and I loved it! I got the bacon and cheese egg sandwich and my friend got the spicy royal west sandwich I believe. The egg is SOOOOO good. The texture might not be for everyone but the seasoning is SOOOO good! I was pleasantly surprised. And then I learned that it's a Korean breakfast sandwich place and it made sense. We really do make some bomb breakfast sandwiches. I think you can order with a person but they have a kiosk at the front for self ordering. The food comes out super fast but the girls working there have such soft voices I barely heard the girl say my name LOL The egg sandwich was definitely my favorite over the royal west sandwich. It CAN get quite messy and honestly I think it would taste the best when you eat it there at the restaurant right when it comes out. Otherwise, it's gonna get real soggy. We also got the iced matcha latte but I don't really care for matcha. It tasted ok. A bit watered down but not too sweet.

Otw back to the Bay Area, we stopped at this Egg Sanwhich spot that we saw on YouTube. They have a few locations in the Southern California area, and this was the closest location to us at the time. Holy Moly, I loved it!!! I really wished we had this in the Bay Area. Please open one up !! lol The flavor of my Sanwhich was on point. I had to get the one that had avocado. Haha My husband had one with a patty in his. This is definitely a place to eat at when visiting Southern California again. On my list for life now.

Biscoff iced latte

As good as it looks Ordered on the kiosk and it was ready right away. Customer service is always nice and they all seem to be attentive. The parking lot is huge in the shopping plaza and they even have an EV charging station.

Super fluffy egg and great quick brunch spot! I ordered the bacon sandwich which came with egg, cheese, bacon, green onion, special sauce on top of buttered bread. I loved how the egg was soft and the sauce was delicious! There are a couple tables inside and you order on a kiosk too. I got the churro chai latte and my friend got the matcha. Both were very tasty. I do think the drinks were a little expensive at $6 each.

The unboxing!

The food looks to be largely egg-based sandwiches. The service is basic counter/ touchscreen ordering. The kitchen staff behind the scenes seems to get the orders correct and yummy. I could have looked more thoroughly, but all food items except for tater tots (which were pretty good) appear egg related. The place is geared for take out but has some tables. Your food bill will feel a bit high, but you get a lot of food. My sandwich was good for leftovers later.

Coworkers and I decided to eat gear for lunch last week. We both have never tried it and were curious about it. And so we did! It wasn't bad at all. But it also wasn't the best food I've had. Priced on the higher end for what you get. Easy parking around the plaza.

These are really good breakfast sandwiches. I would again for sure. As a matter of fact I'm going to get ready and get going for one

Finally get a chance to try an egg sando place. Got in first thing in the morning to pickup breakfast. Food came out quick and piping hot. Also got a small sample of a Korean yogurt drink. That was nice to offset the heaviness of the meal. Bacon and cheese sando - Brioche thick toast encompasses a creamy rich egg mixture with bacon and cheese. This was so good! Eggy, smooth, creaminess on top of the bacon... Was nice to try, but for health reasons, probably not going to get again. Tots - what's not to love about tots. These were the standard tots, crispy outside fluffy inside!

The place was pretty empty when I got there. There was about one other person walking in to pick up an order. The interior was clean. There were 2 workers behind the counter who greeted us and went about their own conversation. Took us a few minutes to realize it's self-service. It's a unique twist on egg sandwiches. The prices seem fair, but on the verge of being considered over priced in my opinion. The quality of food was great. I enjoyed every bite. I wanted to try something new and although this was a great meal, it's something that I think I'm one and done with. On the other hand, their drinks looked pretty tasty and the price value is something I'm use to paying for a coffee drink.

It's located in an easy to get to spot in my old haunts in Torrance when I came back to the area for a quick day trip with my boyfriend. Saw on TikTok that this place had great sandwiches. We previously had a lame egg sando from a local sandwich shop in SD so I decided we needed to redeem ourselves by getting something eggy AND also tasty. Service was quick. I loved that we could order ahead on Yelp and knew it would be ready for us when we arrived. The packaging is neat and organized and just hit and creamy and delicious. We also got the tots! It was overkill for us but we enjoyed every morsel. Nice and clean inside also. Very simple. Perfect rest stop for gas and food.

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

I also tried the Cobb salad with added chicken. It was fresh, but the dressing was a bit heavy and slightly salty. The bell peppers added a nice touch and it had a noticeable Cajun seasoning. Not the best shrimp and grits I ever had but definitely far from the worst. I would definitely order it again. For desert we ordered the lemon drop pancakes. Definitely a unique flavor that I've never had before. Per the name, it was definitely on the sweet side.

"Welcome to Gardena Bowl"…read more This was the greeting I got from the jolly, heavyset Hispanic guy working the counter at the Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop. He had such great energy and charisma - something that is missing in this cold and dark world. Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is truly a hidden gem, especially for folks not from the South Bay area. It's an institution in South Bay and worth the visit for those who are fans of diners or Hawaiian food. Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is a diner located inside a bowling alley, how cool is that?! The diner opens approximately one hour earlier (8 AM) before the bowling alley (opens at 9 AM), and you'll see some of the senior league members stopping by for their daily coffee. Their waitstaff never miss a beat; they will refill your coffee before you even ask, especially if you're sitting at the counter. The big fella, who I honestly wish I caught his name because he was such a jolly and kind man, gave me some recommendations. He told me to look for the shaka on the menu, as those items are popular dishes. He also provided some of his personal favorites. I decided to go with the Garlic Chicken, which was a healthy portion of crispy garlic chicken that came with a scoop of mac salad, broccoli covered in thousand island dressing, and a slice of an orange. I got a side of bacon and sausage fried rice, as someone on Yelp mentioned it was worth getting. I would probably skip the bacon and sausage next time as it's a protein and sodium overload, but it was definitely good. I think I should have opted for the Kimchi Bacon Fried Rice. There are several dishes I hope to try the next time I visit, such as the Loco Moco and Oxtail Soup. This is a legit Hawaiian-style diner. There's a reason they've been in business since 1945. I liked this spot so much I picked up a shirt to add to my collection. I can't wait to come back again soon!

I was only in Cali for a short while, and this spot happened to be about 15 min down the street from where I was staying. Perfect location, and I was curious to see how Cali does soul food. From the first bite, it hit me Emotionally triggered as I was transported straight back to my childhood. It felt like I was sitting at the kitchen table in New Orleans, eating my nanny's candied yams, greens, macaroni, and fried chicken. The flavors had that deep, home-cooked love, that is not taken for granted or lost on me, so hats off to the cook! That kind of food doesn't just fill you up; it connects you,and to top it off, the drinks? Man, they serve that real deal kol-aid. The kind I used to drink as a kid. As I was eating, I started thinking about how food ties us to previous & future generations. It's wild how dishes once considered scraps i.e: greens, yams, cornbread, oxtails, are now sought out in restaurants just like this one. These meals are more than just food; they're stories of survival, resilience, and community. But I digress, I know y'all didn't come here for a history lesson in Black culture, so I'll leave it at that. Now, onto the standouts. The mac and cheese and yams? Easily the stars of the plate. I like my yams runny and solid, because I love mixing it with the cornbread. Sweet, savory, soft--that combo hits every time. The macaroni? Seasoned perfectly. Creamy, rich, and not bland like you sometimes get at other spots . That's rare, and I don't take it for granted. Overall, Soul Food Shack gave me more than just a good meal, it gave me a taste of home, miles away from where I grew up.
