    Tri tip shawerma
    Jimmy S.

Good place for a quick Mediterranean bite. The staff was super nice and suggestive. I got the tri-tip shawerma. It was fairly tender and good mixture of sauce and the sides were great with the pickled turnips and hummus and pita chips. Overall decent fast casual meal spot that has been a long time coming for the southbay

I heard a lot about Zankou Chicken and decided to check this place out. I went with the half chicken, with cucumber salad and humus. It came with 2 pitas and garlic sauce. Got the order for take out. Service was friendly. There's several tables to dine in. The chicken was good, but lacked flavor / seasoning. And the breast was a bit dry. The cucumber salad and humus were good. But the sides were on the smaller portion compared to my favorite go to Mediterranean place. The garlic sauce was very thick. The price is a few dollars less than my go to Med place. There's plenty of off street parking.

Quarter White Chicken with Tzatziki instead of Hummushummus

I first ate at a Zankou chicken location, some 24 years ago, at their original Hollywood location. I became an instant fan. However, I moved to the South Bay a while ago, and I've had to get my rotisserie chicken fixed elsewhere. I would always compare these new businesses to Zankou. Only one or two came close. So, one day on my drive on Hawthorne Boulevard to the 405 freeway, I was delighted to see that Zankou chicken was opening up a location in the South Bay. So, why did I give one of my favorite rotisserie chicken places a two star rating? Well, it has been 36 minutes since I've ordered my food. And, no food. This place is supposed to be a fast casual restaurant. There is nothing FAST about this place. I can see all the way to the back kitchen. The people back there are working as if they are descendants from sloths. You could see the front kitchen and they make the back kitchen workers look like speed demons. One guy is awkwardly trying to remove chickens from the rotisserie and cut them up. The front of house staff are just standing around while lines intermittently form at the cash register. After 15 minutes, I inquired where the food was. We ordered a falafel wrap a cup of soup and a quarter chicken white plate. I went to the counter and was told it would be five more minutes. Obviously, the food was not ready in 5. I went back 10 minutes later and spoke to a young lady who seemed clueless. I shared with her that I don't understand why it's taking so long because this is literally just assembling pre-cooked items. She corrected me and said no everything is cooked to order and it would take 15-20 more minutes. I don't think she understands the difference between house made and cooked to order. They did not put on a raw chicken to start cooking when I asked for a quarter chicken plate. They weren't pickling the beets to order. The soup was obviously sitting in a soup kettle keeping warm. They weren't cooking lentils to order. The only thing that I could see being made to order were the falafel balls. I asked for the premade soup so my wife can at least get started eating. She went and got the cup of soup and filled it up partially and gave it to us. I went back and they topped it off, but they shouldn't have served it partially full. After a period of time, the rest of the food came, but they also put in another cup of soup. That cup of soup was filled up to the top. However, they didn't include a spoon, and there are no spoons at the self service station. They did apologize for the long wait and offered to get me a large side, but what do I need with a gallon of hummus when my dish already comes with a side and two pita? As far as ambience goes, the place is brand spanking new. Everything looks new. We did have a lot of open tables that were dirty. They really do need to have some of these employees who are just standing around making rounds in the dining area and wiping down tables. Now, onto the food. The chicken breast was plump and juicy. I would've liked the skin to be slightly browner and crispier like I remember. The garlic toum sauce is as delicious as I remember. I substituted the hummus for tzatziki sauce and the tzatziki sauce was cold and refreshing. I wish I had a couple of extra spicy peppers. It would have been nice if they had a self service area where you can grab more. My wife enjoyed her hummus wrap. The soup tasted great and was thick but not smooth because I think they partially blend in the lentils. Bottom line, would I go back? I really hope the extremely slow service is just due to the fact that maybe they only opened up in the past few weeks to a month. So, I probably will go back. The garlic sauce alone is reason to go back. ------ The COO wrote me and I responded and I haven't heard back from him. It's been several days. The service is slow even at the top.

    Combo Tarna and Shawarma Plate

I used to live in DTLA and frequented the Zankou there so I was super excited for this one to open here in the South Bay! Finally got a chance to visit and got the tarna & shawarma combo plate with tabbouleh, salad and tzatziki. Also ordered thru the app and got a free side of pita chips :) Food was so good and meat was super tender and flavorful as I remembered it! The tabbouleh was also really good and refreshing! The service was also impeccable- we initially got our food to go but decided to eat at the restaurant instead. When one of the servers noticed this, she asked if I wanted my pita heated up which was so nice of her Lastly, we got a chance to sample their chicken lentil soup which I'm definitely ordering next time! It was hearty, savory and delicious! Highly recommend and so happy they came to the South Bay!

Lule Kabob Plate (Hummus+ Cucumber Salad+ Basmati Rice)

My husband and I had been waiting for this spot to finally open, so we were excited to check it out. We came in around 3:30 and it was pretty busy. The service was friendly, and the person taking our order was helpful, asking if we had any questions or wanted any substitutions. Our order was taken quickly, though it took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. Considering how busy it was, the wait wasn't too bad. The restaurant was also very clean inside, which is always a plus and makes sense since they're newly opened. It had a nice, fresh feel overall. The menu is pretty extensive, with options like bowls, salads, and wraps. My husband and I both decided on the Lule Kabob plate. The plate comes with three sides. We chose rice, cucumber salad, and hummus, and it also comes with pita bread and a sauce of your choice. We went with the garlic sauce, which was really tasty. The veggies were fresh, and the basmati rice was soft and fluffy. My absolute favorite was the hummus. It was rich and creamy, and the olive oil on top made it even better. I would honestly go back just for a side of that. My only complaint, but an important factor, was the meat on the kabob. It was pretty dry. From my experience, lule kabob is usually soft and tender, but this one seemed a bit overcooked, and the dryness was noticeable right away. Overall it was good, but not my favorite. If I were to go back, I'd probably try the chicken instead.

Glad to have a Zankou Chicken nearby! My first time at Zankou was as a kid in the Glendale location, so the name of this store brings back memories. To be honest, I don't remember much except the garlic butter! This location is brand new and the customer service has been exceptional. I look forward to coming back! Keep up the good work.

Been a huge fan of Zankou since I was a kid and my dad brought it home for the first time probably close to 2 decades ago. Boy was I hyped when I found out that one would be opening up close by!! And not to my surprise this place is exactly the same taste wise as the other location. Consistency is a major plus for me and this place doesn't disappoint.

Lemon tahini. As I type that, my mouth is watering. It's a sauce I would drizzle on almost everything, maybe even ice cream (don't judge). Tabbouleh, famous garlic sauce, spicy harissa, mutabbal, basmati, hummus, spiced onions, roasted tomato, chicken and shish skewers...are all the regularly ordered items from Zankou. That says a lot. And it also means I'll be ordering them again and again. And again. Fresh, savory, delicious and in the neighborhood! What a delight to be greeted upon entering. The offer to help was spoken in unison by a few workers. Four helping me all at once. Now that is service attentiveness and I'm addicted. An airy and clean dining room and service so friendly you almost can't get enough. I took our order to go because for our Super Bowl nosh. Can I say how much I enjoyed taking a year off from preparing a snack spread? It was glorious. And that I filled the time with easy online ordering and enjoying the food knowing I had no kitchen clean up was a huge bonus. So glad you're in the neighborhood!

Yay - Zankou is in the South Bay near where I work! It's a good location of this chain, new and shiny with happy and helpful employees. It's now $10 for my favorite Chicken Tarna sandwich here, so not exactly cheap, but the flavor is as good as always. The pickled peppers popped with flavor as always, but the pickled radishes were a bit lacking in flavor compared to what I remember. And, I am always happy to see the Spi-c mints and Tapatio packets that I consider simply part of the experience here. Solid 4 stars, held back a bit by the radishes and the prices which are up like everywhere else. Parking is not as bad as I feared on a Wednesday lunch hour.

Zankou Chicken, Mediterranean food with purpose... I was quietly waiting and watching for Zankou Chicken to finally open!! I was glad when I saw the small parking lot full with hungry customers on rotation going in and out. First timer at Zankou and I can tell you this- the herbs, spices, garlic, onions and proteins have to be the freshest on the planet . Today's order- Chicken and Beef Tarna Plate with basmati rice , cucumber salad and cabbage salad. Chicken and Beef seasoned, tender, thinly sliced over a bed of basmati rice. The cucumbers, onions and tomatoes were so fresh in the salad and a righteous amount of flavor... I loved the thinly sliced cabbage mixed with lemon and seasonings. The garlic sauce needs to be bottled up and sold in stores. I loved it, I am so glad I had extra. When food tastes this good- HEALTHY is the only option!!! Thanks Jared for being the best part of Zankou Chicken - he helped me with my order and didn't rush me to make a selection!!! I am so glad Zankou Chicken is so close by!!! Thank Zankou Chicken- Mediterranean Food With Purpose!!!

I voted for Zankou to come to Torrance! About like a decade ago and kids, don't let anyone tell you dreams don't come true! I have been enjoying Zankou Chicken's, well, chicken...and other yummables for 20+ years now. Whenever on the West Side (including when I worked in Century City) or even off the freeway in Long Beach, many a time I frequented or ordered in from the Sepulveda/Santa Monica Blvd. location and it was always, well, just like today! The consistent awesomeness of this place is amazing. I didn't make it in time for being one of the first 100 customers on Opening Day (which gave the opportunity to be a part of a drawing for "Free Zankou for a Year" which is about the best thing I have ever heard of) but I sure made a point to pick up 4 Chicken Tarna Sandwiches, Tzatziki and Mutabal (think Baba Ganouj...or smoky eggplant excellence) to take home on my way home from work! And it was just as perfect as the first time I had it. The Chicken Tarna is Zankou's version of the Chicken Shawerma (or Chicken Gyro) and it is made up of wonderfully spiced and juicy chicken pieces layered in pita with tomatoes, lettuce and their amazing garlic sauce that, I think, started it ALL! I have had the Beef Shawerma many times as well. In fact, I have consistently ordered the combo plate of both, but you know, like today, if I had to choose just one...it's the Chicken Tarna all the way! With every order, you also get a nice amount of the yummy pickled turnips. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of the sandwich...I quickly devoured it before thinking to take one! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND....to change your life!

I was number 67 today and the worker happily announced my number on the loud speaker with a smile! It found it amusing too although no one else in the restaurant cheered to match his energy. I ordered a shish kabob plate in addition to the chicken tarna wrap today at the suggestion of another Yelper. It's a lot of food for $18 considering all the whole pieces of beef, veggies, hummus, rice, and two pitas. That said, it wasn't as satisfying as a pre-assembled wrap with the right amount of sauce and meat.

Tried this back in LA. Their chicken seemed dry in the past but thought I'd try again. The restaurant is where the old Boston Market used to be. Got the 1/2 chicken and the chicken and beef kebab. The chicken was definitely dry for the white meat. Don't find the food to be that much better than some of the other similar restaurants in this area. Service was good so might come back again if in the area Overall 3.5.

The inside is large and spacious with a lot of seats. It's really open and has nice natural lighting and there is also a little patio area with outdoor seating. I really liked the vibes of the cafe and that alone would convince me to come back. There's a lot of various merch on display as well as house coffee beans and bottled drinks. There's also an area with board games and books to borrow. The cashier at the front was really nice and chill. He listed the different options for milk for my lattes and refilled the water tank at the end of the station after being notified it was low. I love that they had a chilled water tank that's self serve in the cafe because that hit after my run. For drinks I got a teddy graham latte with oat milk which was a seasonal spring menu item. It was topped with cinnamon which gave it almost a little spicy kick in the beginning that I was not mad about. The oat milk was so creamy and I liked that the latte wasn't overly sweet. I also got a matcha latte with oat milk for my mother-in-law. The matcha was delicious and the drink again was not overly sweet which can be the case at some other places. I didn't get any food this time but the pastries were all very temping and looked so good on display. I also saw some other customers eating sandwiches that looked hearty so I may need to make another trip here to try out some of the food. Overall, really nice cafe that I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to the area!
