WARNING TO FELLOW GLUTEN FREE PATRONS - Although they state the Grilled Chicken Vietnamese Entrée is gluten free, I can assure you it's not!! There is obvious cross contamination from other items, so steer clear of any item they attest to be gluten free. On another note - I've been coming here for years, ordering their Vietnamese entrees, and have been satisfied. There's been an apparent change to the recipe, as both the chicken as well as the pork had very little taste to the meat, so they've decided to scrimp on the marinade for both. And a minor issue, but I enjoy a modest amount of bean sprouts, which they elected to leave out of these dishes now. We were staying at the Comfort Suites and Egg Roll King is just a very short walk from here. Both my wife and I like Chinese food. The second night we were here we decided on an evening snack and went to Egg Roll King for just an appetizer Sampler and Shrimp Egg Rolls. As for the Appetizer Sampler: the fried shrimp was wonderful, the egg roll was very good, the fried dumplings were very good, and the crab-cheese wontons were out of this world. We're used to crab-cheese wontons that are cheese with a hint of crab, these were different, these are crab with a hint or cream cheese! The shrimp egg rolls were awesome and have a lot of shrimp. The third night, we took my two daughters there. They both raved about the soup and the appetizers. We all had too much to eat earlier to order dinner. The fourth night we just had the Appetizer Sampler and two Shrimp Egg Rolls. The fifth night we went there and had the Orange Chicken and the two Shrimp Egg Rolls. The Orange Chicken was probably the best we have ever had. If it wasn't the best it was certainly in the top two. All we can say is that if you are in this area, and if you need a Chinese Food Fix, our limited experience says that this place is exceptional! I went in for egg rolls, soup, and crab wontons. It was all good and what hoped for. (I was surprised that the egg drop soup had corn in it.) The service was fast and the waitress was very friendly. The interior needed some updates though. Some new paint, new ceiling tiles, and remove the mirrors would give the place more ambiance. Simple, yet delicious! This was our first visit to the Egg Roll King. We had driven past this restaurant many times, and decided it was a good time to try this restaurant out. The restaurant was relatively quiet when visited on Wednesday. There is seating for about 25 - 4 tops. They offer a full menu selection with just about every Chinese entrée for everyone. We ordered 3 entrées plus 1 crab cheese wonton appetizer - our total bill was $50. Two of the entrées upgraded to a "Complete" dinner which included soup, fried dumpling, egg roll and an additional crab cheese wonton. Overall I was satisfied with the food and dining. One suggestion - turn off the t.v. during dinner service. As much as I like watching t.v. during dinner - watching a rerun of Seinfeld while eating out did not add positively to the experience. read more

Passed by this place hidden in a strip mall at the corner of County Line and Quebec a few times and didn't even notice it. Stopped in today while waiting on my car to be serviced at the Stereo shop next door. Ordered Thai Iced Tea - was horrified to watch the gal pull a packet of instant Thai Iced Tea mix out of the cabinet and nuke it and then pour over ice. Yum Yum. Ordered Chinese dumplings, steamed. Same deal - Microwaved. Wasn't brave enough to try the real food. read more

Can't help but disagree with the lower-rating reviews, although last night was my first time ordering from Egg Roll King, and I got a fairly easy, standard dish (sesame chicken). I've been ordering from a few other local places for years, but my boyfriend wasn't thrilled with the last place we tried. I chose to order from Egg Roll King versus other options for these reasons: 1. ONLINE ORDERING!! No more picking up the phone, being placed on hold, having to recite my address every time . . . the online ordering system is easy to use and very efficient. I LOVE having an online ordering option. 2. A client in the neighborhood had recommended Egg Roll King previously. 3. They offer a variety of types of cuisine: Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese. Having so many options is awesome! We ordered Crab Rangoons/Wontons, Sesame Chicken and Cashew Chicken with Steamed Rice. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my meal. The wontons could have used more grab, but that's standard with what I've seen in the area. My sesame chicken was so yummy that I had two helpings, my boyfriend had some, and I just finished the leftovers - YUM, even out of the microwave! What!? I think he had his cashew chicken for lunch, too. Also, huge props for the delivery driver finding our house. For some reason, we always get lost because there are two streets with the same name in our neighborhood, but our food got here FAST and PIPING HOT! I can't imagine how this place has any positive reviews at all. In fact, I can't believe this place is in business. Tonight I called the restaurant to get a quote on delivery time. They quoted me 45-55 minutes. I had never eaten here before, and I wanted to order online so that I could peruse the menu. I ordered two appetizers--crab cheese wontons and vegetarian egg rolls--and General Tso's chicken. The website informed me that the wait time would be more in the hour and 15 minute range. It wasn't a big deal, so I went ahead with my order. An hour and 45 minutes later, with no sign of my food, I called the restaurant. No answer. I called again. No answer. I tried calling and recalling for about 15 minutes. No answer. I checked my bank account to see if they had charged my card for they order. Of course they did. I would have driven to the restaurant, but my kids were in bed, and I wasn't going to wake them...obviously. Another 30 minutes later, I had given up. I was making myself a sandwich, when "ding, dong." You have got to be kidding me. As soon as I opened the door, the delivery person blurts, "I'm sorry!" He looked like he was literally afraid I was going to kill him. I asked him what the heck was going on, and why didn't they answer their phone. He responded, "They got really busy, and they didn't want to answer the phone." Um...seriously? Sounds like cowardice hiding, while you send the poor delivery person to the slaughter to me. It really is unfortunate because the food isn't bad. It's not great, but it's totally acceptable. The crab cheese wontons could use more filling (which is saying something because I usually think most places put in too much), the egg rolls were crisp and yummy, and the General Tso's chicken was decent...a little soft, but the flavor was good. I will say that regardless of the 2 hour and 15 minute wait (an hour and 20 minutes over the original quote time and an hour over the internet quote time), the food wasn't cold. For me, the deal breaker isn't the long wait time. I get that things happen that are sometimes out of your control and things get away from you. I certainly don't expect perfection, but what I find completely unacceptable is refusing to answer your phone. That left me with no options. Had they simply answered their phone, I would have canceled my order and moved on with my life. I would have been annoyed, but I probably would have given them another chance (take out), and all would have been fine. However, they didn't answer their phone, and I will NEVER give this business my patronage again. read more

Ordered Vietnamese Egg Rolls and Sesame Chicken for dinner, delivery was quick and that's about the only positive. Vietnamese Egg Rolls were nothing like Vietnamese Egg Rolls, no flavor whatsoever. Was hoping to rescue them with fish sauce but it had even less flavor than the rolls unfortunately. Well it didn't get any better when the Sesame Chicken got cracked open. Flour was what I tasted, chicken again didn't even taste like chicken and the sauce was watered down as well but there were at least sesame seeds so I had some idea what this was SUPPOSED to be. I had been wanting to try this place out forever, now glad I waited. A resounding 'meh' for Egg Roll King. You lied to me, Yelp! My usual Chinese delivery place has been somewhat hit or miss lately, and so today at lunch I decided to order from Egg Roll King since the reviews on here were favourable, and since they offer online ordering through both GrubHub and Eat24 (as an introvert I appreciate the option of not having to talk to anyone!) That's about where the good part ends. Firstly, delivery on a Monday (at around 2pm) took over an hour. I realise it was estimated at 45-60 minutes and it took an hour and fifteen, but that's still pretty lengthy for lunch time - and the food wasn't even worth the wait. I ordered a sushi roll and a lunch special (General Tso chicken). The sushi, sitting atop the hot food with no barrier in between (some places use cardboard or put them in separate bags) was hotter than the chicken. Even once cooled a bit in the fridge, it still tasted really bland and the rice was quite dry. The General Tso (which we asked for very spicy) was a very large portion - but I'd estimate the ratio of batter to chicken was about 70% to 30% if I'm being generous - just way too much batter. I'd rather get a small portion of chicken without insane amounts of breading. Additionally, the sauce wasn't spicy, but very sweet - and they'd thrown a handful of sichuan peppercorns in it to make it spicier, but then you just get a mouthful of not very spicy, but very peppery food. The rice, egg roll, and crab cheese wonton were all relatively good, for what it's worth - but those do not a Chinese food meal make, sadly. Ultimately, warm, bland sushi and candy-sweet chicken aren't really my thing. Maybe I just caught ERK on a bad day, but I won't be chancing it again. read more

Ok experience. I was recommended to this place by a colleague and I found it to be ehhhh...ok. Nothing above average or considered fusion. Place is small but the staff was wonderful and helpful. This place is awesome! I had the green curry and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Crisp tender and crunchy just like I like them. Not soggy and overcooked as happens so often. My friend had the sweet and sour pork and again, everything was perfect. The pork was not heavy or overcooked, but light, almost like tempura. Everything was delicious. I went here recently for dinner with a friend and we both really enjoyed our dinner. I liked my sesame tofu because it was crispy and well seasoned. My friend got a noodle bowl and was super psyched that it was all noodles and not lettuce on the on the bottom. The sweet and sour sauce was a little thin but not a big upset. At the end of the meal they bring you a complentary watermelon slice. I also got banana egg rolls hoping they would somewhat taste like a desert from a more expensive place but they didn't. I don't know why I thought they would. Overall for dinner I think this might be my go to place for sesame tofu. read more

Well, it was adequate but not as good as our go-to, Jasmine, which isn't open on Sundays. Had pad Thai and beef w/garlic sauce. Portions are large. Neither dish was spicy, that was disappointing, tho both were advertised to be so (even asked and was told they were). PT noodles were kind of mushy; flavor was a tad off to me, but chicken was nicely tender and included shrimp, a plus. Can't really describe the overall 'so-so' quality tho... B w/g was also ok but not special. Beef was chewy. Just wasn't a "yes!!" or zip to either dish, but we were hungry and there was plenty of food. As others have said, this establishment does take quite a while to deliver your food but I thought it was well worth it. First of all, the portions are huge! I ordered the pad Thai and it was packed to the top with noodles and all the goods. I don't like shrimp and requested it not be added (since it comes with shrimp and chicken) as well as to make it spicy. They happily obliged by my requests and I'm very happy with that. They add quite a few additions to your meal as well. I ordered pad Thai, hot & sour soup, and a Vietnamese coffee. When it was delivered, it included two egg rolls, two wontons, and a dumpling. The price wasn't unreasonable either ($23 including a tip). Overall, a good value and good food. I will order again. read more

I was doing a little work in the area and the hotel next door recommended this restaurant so I decided to try it out. Very friendly people and great food, thank you very much. As a consultant by trade I always offer a few tips that can help business do better: It would be good to expand your beer selection, micro brews/IPA's are the in beer in the country right now and customers always appreciate great beer. Restaurants in the States typically advise there wait staff to ask diners things like "hows your meal" etc. A closed end question. This typically gets an answer of fine, good, OK etc. If a restaurant really wants a true response, they should ask an open ended question, something like "What could we have done to make your meal better" read more

This place was a let down. I mean I LOVE egg rolls and how can you go wrong with the "EGG ROLL KING". The portion was larger than what some might be used to for lunch special.
