We were looking for somewhere near Graceland to have breakfast and stumbled upon this place. I'd say it's more of a locals place so we were really hoping this would be a great find. It was just ok. I figured since I was in the south I'd try the chicken and waffles. I've never had it so I had no expectations. This one was good. The chicken wings had just enough spice and the waffle was tasty. First time visit to the Egg King today. We were warmly greeted by the kitchen staff upon our arrival. In contrast, all of the Servers seemed cold, made no effort to establish rapport, and were not attentive. It did not feel as though I was in a southern restaurant. This was not a Chick Fila experience. On the bright side, The food was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my waffle and chicken. Others in my party enjoyed the pancakes. Stopped in Saturday morning. Couldn't decide what I wanted so ordered it all, spent $50. Overall, it was ok, didn't have much flavor. Nothing special. The most disappointing, was the chicken wings. They smelled like fish which I assumed was because they were cooked in the same grease as the fish. Not to mention the grease was burnt and you could definitely taste it. Please disregard the 1 star review of Hoojang from Canada. We were also at the breakfast restaurant this morning and are also not of color. The staff was extremely apologetic that the food was taking longer than expected. We had a tour scheduled and let our waitress know we had to leave. She told the cook, they packed us a breakfast to go, apologized multiple times, and we were off. The food was just like any other comforting breakfast cafe. I just felt bad the staff was overwhelmed. As a tourist, I did read the reviews prior to going, but decided to see for myself- boy was I in for a rude awakening!!! My family and I arrived at 11:55am. We were seated and our order was taken immediately. Shortly thereafter, I noticed a family leave due to the long wait in their food. The radar went up for me... I waited and waited until finally I asked the status of our order given the fact patrons who came in after me received their food. The server informed me it would be an additional 10 minutes. By this time, it was 12:45pm. Upon receiving my food, it was definitely not worth the wait!! This establishment has potential but the manner in which they do business is less than desirable and an epic failure!!! It most certainly will not be a stop on my next visit. read more

How the hell can they give this dump 4 Stars Unbelievable! My wife and I were on vacation visiting (Elvis Graceland) on 8/5/2021 and was looking for a breakfast buffet and only found this dump which makes you breakfast almost like a truck stop but worse, before you can go sit down you have to order first at the counter, then you can go sit down, the reason for that is they have no waitresses that come to the tables, the place was nowhere's close to being packed with people, then we sat for an hour before this old lady comes up and asks if we like something to drink, ordered 1 coffee and 1 water and that took another 15 minutes to get, then they called our name and as I got up to get the food the girl behind the counter said she'll bring it to us, but as she was one table away right next to us she stopped a started talking to the people at that table while holding our breakfast in her hand, Not Hands just a hand, reason I said that is they serve your breakfast in styrofoam to go boxes with plastic utensils and coffee in a styrofoam cup. Total time waiting to eat 1 1/2 hrs, sure we could of left long ago but there wasn't any other places to go nearby so we stayed. The cook was slower than molasses and couldn't multitask for shit , he could only make one order at a time and yet there were 4 people behind the counter and 1 was the cashier . So the next day we found a fantastic place to eat which ended up being at the (Graceland Guest House) called (Delta's Kitchen) it was awesome and gorgeous in there, and they had a buffet with no waiting and we ate immediately , little expensive but so well worth it and (Highly Recommended)!! read more

This by far is been the best breakfast I think I've ever had, the Covid safety measures are the best that we have seen on our trip they have spaced out seating staff were wearing masks. Very friendly did you have to go up an order at the counter and all the meals are in to go containers for safety reasons. The pancakes are absolutely out of this world. More southern style pancakes so there is A difference, they don't have that white fluffy pancake look to them. This spot was ok the lady taking orders was very rude. She wasn't friendly at all. Everything was very unorganized as far as people coming in and out, at least they skipped every table where ppl waited. The French toast where ok, but the had a very funny smell (like an old grease smell) to them probably because they cook everything on the same fry table including meats which also needs a change (cross contamination) but the pancakes where descent, and I got an omelet for my ppls at home. Overall better customer service and better frenchtoast is needed and a door for the back where stock is kept looks very dirty. read more

We sat for over an hour waiting for our order meanwhile every other guest in the place got their orders . People came in after us and got their food while we waited. It never donned on us till quite some time into our wait that we were the only people not of color in the place . We are from Canada and we do not take into account anyone's race in our lives . It was pretty apparent that we were the only customers being treated poorly. If the owners of this establishment are Christian they need to reassess their values . In the end our orders finally came and were less than edible , We payed the bill and left leaving our food on the table . Just to be clear we sat patiently for an hour until the whole restaurant was empty. The only patrons were the new ones at the counter that came in long after we did and had their food. Located down the street from Graceland, this breakfast/brunch restaurant serves homestyle, no frills delicious breakfast that arrives hot off the griddle. Warm and friendly staff that treats every customer like family. We were greeted and welcomed in as soon as we walked in the door! We were in Memphis for three days and had our breakfast two days in a row here once we discovered this place. I prefer this type of breakfast spot over the well known chains. read more
