Was really surprised by this place. We just happened to walk by and it was packed but it was worth the 20 minute wait (Complimentary coffee while you wait). They seem to still be getting their staff trained but the food needs no work. I liked the ample healthier options for a reasonable price. The food came out quickly even though it was packed. Hot off the grill and fresh. Definitely worth a try. read more

i loved this place! the waitresses and staff were SO NICE and attentive (which is super rare these days)! food was also great and lots of coffee options. my parents loved it ! read more

Cafe is almost empty. Waited super long to be seated, then almost 20 min no waitress. Management, be sure you have enough stuff to serve people. read more

Absolutely amazing breakfast. The gluten free cinnamon roll is a MUST! The jam... mmmmmhmmm! To die for!

Great service, great food, great location. The manager was kind and so accomadating. Would recommend to all for a delicious breakfast. 10 stars read more

This is the most kid friendly restaurant I have ever been to! First they have a huge entryway with several areas that are perfect to keep a stroller. There is plenty of room to wait to be seated so that you don't have to wait outside or crushed together like at Yolk. The restaurant itself is big and is not crammed like other restaurants so the high chair is not squeezed in, it fits normally. Tons of high chairs and they grabbed one without even asking! They brought my hangry toddler oyster crackers to keep him entertained while we waited for food after I asked. They also have crayons and a great kids menu to color on. The kids menu itself is awesome with tons of different options. It was perfect! The restaurant is also full of kids so great family place. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that both times I went I didn't love my food- I had the veggie hash the first time, I appreciated all the veggies and it felt "light" but it was also kind of bland. I put a bunch of the table seasoning, and ketchup and hot sauce on it. I saw in a different review they asked for cheese on it , I think that would add a ton of flavor and might be what it is missing. The english muffin that came with this was amazing. I tried the corned beef hash and was also not impressed, the pieces of corned beef were so tiny I could barely taste them. I also had the smoked salmon benedict and I did not love smoked salmon on it. My kid's kids meal had pancakes and bacon and they were both great, particularly the pancake. The egg was cooked perfectly. So in summary- if you have young kids and want to go out for brunch give this place a try! read more

I was excited to try this place from the reviews. It took a long time, probably at least 10 plus minutes or so to be waited on. Then it took too long for the food to come and it was only warm when it came. I had to order my coffee twice and had to ask for water. The staff was very personable but not very attentive. Maybe I just got there on a bad day. read more

This spot has been our go-to breakfast option for awhile now. Unfortunately the quality of their food has declined over the recent months. This morning my fiancé and I received fruit cups with mold. read more

Mediocre food, poor service. Server was totally indifferent, dropped cutlery and just walked away, brought the wrong item and when it was pointed out she just said "Oh, we don't have the other one," no apology and then it appeared on the bill anyway. The cashier had to call the manager over to take it off the bill. read more

I love egg Harbor Café! The food is delicious and the servers are friendly. The food menu items include very healthy choices. It's only a few steps from where I live but that is not why I go there. The wait can be long but you can call or stop in and make a reservation and they will text you when you're getting close to being seated which is a plus so you don't have to wait and hang around outside. The manager is great, very friendly and has been there since they opened. This place will not disappoint. read more

Sorry to say this place is EXTREMELY OVERRATED - which makes me wonder if customers truly know what an upscale and fresh breakfast/brunch actually tastes like. It took 45 minutes to be seated, which it is NOT worth the wait people. I promise you. I think they have created such a chaotic atmosphere on a large scale that it is unmanageable for quality. I do feel bad as the grunt is taken out on the servers, which in the end, it's the owners and managers fault. I did the habanero hash and added guac. Food was lacked any flavor and it took an additional 15 minutes just to get the actual guac I ordered with it. Go down the street to another breakfast place or Beatrix. This isn't worth the time until management can put process and procedures in place to ensure quality - or get new recipes. read more

I had the Bavarian Benedict which was ok. The eggs were slightly overcooked and the bacon was not crispy. I had higher hopes for a place that specializes in breakfast, but based on the other reviews perhaps it was an off-day. read more

They accommodated us in a time crunch and were super nice the whole way through!! The food was delicious and hearty. It was a little hard to find by the gps and the city layout, but after getting in, it felt very warm and welcoming. read more

This place is so cute and close to the hotel! The food was ok. My food came out cold and my cinnamon roll was stale, just reheated. We enjoyed our meal overall. read more

Food & drinks were delicious. Wait was long, but worth it. Staff was super friendly & helped each other out which was great to see as they were busy & seemed short staffed. If we lived in Chicago we would definitely be regulars! read more

I have been to Egg Harbor at Lake Geneva and had a nice experience there - but the one at Chicago is not so good. The operation is a mess. Waited 15 mins (super slow already) for the seasonal brown sugar vanilla iced coffee and it came in a tiny plastic to-go cup with way less coffee, ice & cream than the picture. We double checked with the waitress and she confirmed it is what we ordered - she explained it is in the plastic cup because the kitchen ran out of glass mugs and are still washing it. She said it's still the same amount of ingredient which I think she's kidding me - I can tell the difference with my raw eyes and I know how large a glass mug is. I feel the attitude was like just take it and stop complaining. I do not think it is reasonable to assume it is acceptable to us without even checking with us ahead of time - the restaurant could have checked with us telling us there are no more glass mugs, and they can only serve in tiny plastic cup and be honest it would come with way less ingredient due to size limit, and we can pick something else. And BTW I checked other tables around, we are the only got served a drink in a plastic cup - not sure how the waitress judge it is fine with us - it is NOT. Another fun thing was at the same time I also asked where is the other drink I ordered (lemonade), she said the kitchen is waiting for the glassware to be washed. I don't get it why the restaurant decide one of the drink can be in the tiny cup while the other can be in the glass. I politely asked the waitress to remake the ice coffee in the glass, which they did (it is way LARGER than what came up in the tiny plastic cup and finally match the picture). But I do hope the restaurant can treat the customers more reasonably and take the initiative to check with the customer in advance - not assuming customer will just accept something with way worse quality but pay the same price. It is not about the money but I do expect a more reasonable & fair treatment. read more

It's honestly the most covid friendly restaurant I've been to. Made me feel so safe. The food was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately we forgot to take a picture of the food before we ate. I've been recommending them to everybody. read more

I came here to get an iced latte and it was very good. The only downside is the coffee was a bit expensive.

The food and service is above average. Our group had the Matt's skillet, lemon poppyseed pancakes, blueberry pancake combo and cinnamon roll French toast. Everything was hot and tasty. read more

Fantastic breakfast spot. Great customer service. Have brought a variety of people here and they all have found a dish they like. The San Antonio Skillet is my favorite. Solid coffee. read more

Came here for lunch with a few coworkers the second day the restaurant had opened. It was very well staffed. Our service was outstanding! The menu has A LOT to offer from popular breakfast items, sweet treats like cinnamon buns, indulgent pancakes, etc. They also offer a bunch of lunch options which I loved! They offer an extensive list of salads, sandwiches, soups, etc. The pricing is great for downtown Chicago. Everyone enjoyed their food and raved about the service. We will be coming back again! read more

Great brunch experience! I had the shakshuka and coffee. Both were delicious. I would definitely get the shakshuka again, but did think the fresh spinach on it wasn't my favorite. My boyfriend got the French toast combo and liked that as well! He doesn't like eggs, and they were great about subbing fruit for eggs. Both of our meals were reasonable portions that we feel full, but not ready to keel over. Their service was fantastic!! Dan was very helpful, and even refilled our coffees to go! I would definitely recommend brunch here. read more

Loved it! Very classic breakfast. It was busy when we went around noon but we didn't have to wait long for a table.

Excellent food. We ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast (so good), their Signature pancakes as well as their blueberry pancakes, the Southern shrimp and Grits and the Eggceptional Skillet Combo. Everyone enjoyed their food immensely. Will definitely visit again when we're in town. read more

I come in from out of town and I am so happy this restaurant came into this location. Great food and a warm welcoming.

Aletha the manager was very attentive with my husband and I. We had a mishap where we spilled our coffee all over our food and she instantly helped clean the table, replace the coffees, and the food. Highly recommend this place just because of our experience with Aletha! read more

Amazing breakfast. I plan on bringing everyone I know here to try out their skillets! Carnitas skillet 10 out of 10 for making me come back!

The food was delicious, not to mention the portions are very generous. Affordable prices for great breakfast in downtown Chicago, with a very nice view. I made my own scrambler, which also came with French toast and fruit for $12.50. Very quick service. Would be a great place for dates, is kid friendly, easy to access off of Michigan Avenue, and has Apple Pay. read more

Thanks egg harbor for putting onions in my Matt's meaty skillet for the 2nd time in a week. My coworker was nice enough to buy me breakfast today he knows what I like and a meat lovers skillet had onions not what I like. Do not go here because I'm sure they will screw up your food somehow. Walked in this morning for take-out Cappuccino, I asked for sugar, she plopped me a canister of sugar packets for me to pick. I asked for stirrer, without uttering a word, she pointed to a canister of straws on the side the counter. This was one of the closest breakfast spots to our hotel and the service was so good we came back everyday! Lots of tasty menu options, great coffee/tea, a true team effort environment and friendly staff members that made us feel at home. I appreciated the fact that they checked our temps before seating us, the tables had been marked as sanitized and social distancing was still in place. Can't wait to visit here again when I'm back in town. Highly recommend! read more

Dude this place was awesome! I have Celiac so I have to do gluten free and we came upon this place just by chance. Their gluten free menu was amazing! I haven't had a cinnamon roll is years, their gluten free cinnamon roll breakfast was out of this world! It was warm and gooey and delicious and most importantly didn't make me sick. The bacon was good and their potatoes were tasty too! My son had the cinnamon roll french toast and he loved it! My husband had an omelette that was great too! Busy place for sure so don't expect to get seated right away necessarily but totally worth the wait! read more

I saw this place open up because I live in the Aston next door, so I decided to check out the menu online. I love to have breakfast there not only because of the location being convenient for me, but I always liked Swedish pancakes, and they do it just like Ann Sather's with the lingonberry sauce. They offer a strawberry orange juice which is quite unique. They also offer omelettes and scrambles of all types to accommodate anyone's preference, and I would have to say that their menu is very comprehensive. read more
