Horrible! Our waitress was unfriendly, the bathrooms were disgusting, and we waited so long for our food (simple pancakes that apparently took 30+ minutes when the place was empty) that we ended up just paying for our coffee (which was also gross) and going somewhere else. One of the worst breakfasts i've had in a long time. I ordered the vegetable omelette for over $10 it wasn't very large, the eggs were over cooked yet the cheese was stringy and barely cooked. If you see empty tables it's for a reason. We stopped in because we were on a time crunch and the service was so slow and the place was empty. This is the only breakfast place I've ever been to where I didn't get asked if I wanted more coffee, I would have gotten more myself if it was even good. The eggs Benedict were sour and the Canadian bacon was chewy. Ordered a large chocolate milk and got an orange juice first and then a small chocolate milk. Horrible horrible horrible. No stars should be given to this place, It was soooo disgusting it shouldn't even be called a restaurant. I'm a waitress myself and this place is way over priced. The food if you could call it that was just plain nasty. I think the bacon had been laying around under a heat lamp since before the stone ages. Old, nasty, unfit for human consumption. Warm juice, watered down omelet. Asked for a grilled english muffin and got a toasted one. Not a big deal but the waitress insisted to me that if was grilled. I think I can tell the difference. A big pile of cheerios was on the floor the whole time we were there. The place is filthy and just plain disgusting. Avoid at all costs. I would starve before going there ever again. read more

This place is only getting 2 stars because most of their food is pretty decent, but their service is awful. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and they just gave me toast with a pice of BACON on the side. I told the waitress that she must have made a mistake and said no, i called the owner and he told me that I was wrong. I told him that this is not even a bacon breakfast sandwich and he refused and started yelling. I will simply never go here again! read more

It took over 15 minutes for a server to ask us if we want coffee, the food was terrible and the service was worse. The servers had dirty clothes on and were speaking loudly of an unsatisfied customer who complained about their food being unsanitary. Ugh! I have been here many times over the years and it was always ok since it is not easy to screw up breakfast. Service was always very good. This time was so bad that I will not go back! Service was almost nonexistent. When someone finally came to us after 10 minutes of waiting she seemed to have no clue what to do. We ordered drinks and she disappeared for quite a while before returning with everything but my coffee.... Then she left for a while again and finally brought back the worst coffee I have ever been served. I became fixated on another server that brought her child to work and was carrying him (about 1 yr old) around on her hip while waiting tables. I watched when she tried to get her plates ready to deliver and he was grabbing the food and touching everything in sight. If she were serving me I would have declined the food. I can only imagine how many health code violations were happening with no manager trying to control the situation. We watched as other servers complained in front of customers that she should have stayed home since they had to deliver most of her tables... Anyway, the food was as bad as the service. Tried this place for a late breakfast and the service was the most unpleasant horrible service I've ever received. The waitress gave us an attitude because right after we were sat I said we needed a minute to decide what we wanted. She rolled her eyes and said she would be back. When she came back she said "did you finally decide?" So rude. So our meals are coming and she hands us our hot plates above our heads, who does that? Being in the restaurant business I know you're never supposed to hand a customer a hot plate you're always supposed to place it down gently in front of them. We ate our meals they were decent nothing crazy it's not that hard to make scrambled eggs and bacon. Anyways, she comes over and asks us to hand her our dirty plates, nothing like full service at all. We asked her to split our bill evenly on two cards and she said "split it?" As she rolled her eyes at us as if she was annoyed about splitting it. Our bill was 33$ and somehow one card got charged 19$ and the other 13$ so it wasn't split evenly at all. Decided to go there for breakfast before the Hyannis craft fair. We were seated promptly at a nice table outside. It all went downhill from there. No one came to our table to offer us coffee or water or anything at all. Then, the owner/manager proceeded to loudly scold his wait staff in front of all the customers. The party next to us walked out because it was so uncomfortable. We had to ask to be waited on and once we placed our order we waited and waited and waited until finally we had to ask again for our order. The waitress did not even remember taking our order just a short while before. Finally, our order came and the food was stale and barely edible. We could not wait to leave this spot and will never go back. It's a shame because we remember when this was a very popular spot for breakfast on the Cape. We highly recommend that you never dine here. This place would make a good candidate for the Kitchen Nightmare television show!!!! read more

If given the option I would've chosen ZERO stars. We walk in and there isn't anyone to greet us at the door. We stand there looking around and a lady yells from the dining room "how many?!" and points us to a table we can sit at. She is filthy and messy. Stains all over her shirt. We sit down and I have to use the restroom- which was also a mess... After getting back to the table no one had been over to us yet. We waited a good 10 minutes and while waiting I was observing the restaurant. Waitresses with their hair down, chewing gum, waving themselves with menus, and looking very unprofessional. Not the way I would want someone to be serving my food. I approached the woman who sat us that no one had been over. She yells to a waitress and the waitress replies OK!! Then continues with what she's doing while flipping her hair around and chewing her gum. I just couldn't believe how unprofessional and unkept this place was. For the amount of money we were about to spend there, in no way could it have been worth it. We ended up walking out without anyone coming over and no acknowledgment. I am a local, lived near Egg & I for 80% of my life and eaten there all of it. Of the 1000 times I have eaten there I can attest to one thing, consistency. Before I comment I notice EVERY negative review is tendered during high season, probably on a Sunday morning to add insult to injury. Before I tell you why that matters let me state The food is always fresh and cooked to order and flavorful. It's not the four seasons but then again your not paying $29.95 for an omelette either. I notice in most of the negative reviews consistency permeates each but in a different way and that is having to wait longer then what they consider acceptable. I've never felt such. Hyannis is a seasonal community with the population swelling from 50k in winter to 500k in summer. It's not uncommon to see a line out the door just waiting to be seated. Locals know not to go out to eat on those mornings and if you do expect to wait a little extra. If your looking for good food, fairly priced in a clean environment then Egg & I is a good choice. How do I know? Many many many years of consistent tradition...... Oh and the ability not to leave reason at the door and expect fast service when first having to wait to be seated. Don't be fooled by these negative reviews. They are delusional in expectation. Trust me every other breakfast place in that area is experiencing the same tsunami of diners demanding the same thing. If your in such a rush on such a busy morning Mc Donald's drive thru is on block up. read more
