Sometimes in my travels, I find a little gem that just completely makes my day. That was the case when I wandered into Leo's Breakfast Restaurant. I found the place on Yelp, and it was justva short walk from my hotel. When I walked into the parking lot, I knew it looked like my kind of place. I walked inside and the sign said "Seat Yourself", so I did. Very quickly, a pleasant lady walked over with menus and greeted me. As I looked around, I could tell this was a place the locals ate, so I knew it was going to be good! The nice lady, whose name is Cathy, came back with my drink, and took my order. The guy in the next booth had finished eating, so I spoke to him. He was very friendly, and confirmed my thought that this was a place locals loved. When Cathy came by to refill my drink, we talked for a couple of minutes. I told her that I loved hearing her call the local customers by name. Before she walked away, I told her that I was now a "local for the day". She confirmed and said I was her new BFF! The food came, and as expected, it was fantastic! I told Cathy that the fried potatoes reminded me of the ones my grandmother made for ne, when I was a child... and very good memory! Cathy checked on me often, and shared some history about Leo's. She quietly dropped off the check, and never made me feel rushed. Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. To make it even better, she walked by my table and dropped off an Oreo scone for me to try! OMG! I'd never had a scone before! This one may have spoiled me! When I was all done, I walked up to the counter to pay, and tell my new BFF thanks and goodbye. She introduced me to the girl that made the homemade scones, so I was able to tell her how awesome they were. We talked for just a few more minutes, and I talked about bringing my wife and son up that way for vacation. Cathy said that she looked forward to meeting them, and then gave me a hug on the way out. My husband and I dined at Leo's this past weekend when we were in town visiting family. We seemed to have walked in at just the right time, and we were able to seat ourselves at a table. Immediately after we sat, at least 20 people pulled into the parking lot and came inside. We could tell that this was "the place to be" and we were excited to try it out. We were greeted by a server and someone else (who I assume is the owner or an incredibly dedicated hostess/server/woman who does it all!) We felt acknowledged and appreciated. We ordered fairly quickly and waited about 30 minutes for the food. At one point, a waitress came out to apologize for the daily (we appreciated this part and we were in no rush! It was MDW and like I said, a swarm of people came in at the same time!) I ordered one of the combos- scrambled eggs, bacon, and 2 pancakes that I added blueberries too. Stopped in here on our way to the cape . We had streak and eggs which were healthy portions and the best steak tips I've ever had . Tasty, perfectly cooked, a generous portion and so tender ! My over easy eggs were cooked to perfection. My fishing buddy got pancakes and sausage which she raved over. The coffee was good , hearty and kept coming. The breakfast was so good that we planned our trip home with a visit there. The best part was the staff. It has a good crowd of regulars plus tourists with its downtown location. Food and serviice great. Went and sat at small bar they have due to tables being full. We don't eat pork and have hard time finding homes fries that won't have pork fat or meat in our area. It's hard enough having breakfast without meat I can't not have home fries too. Well the amazing cooks here said they were able to make without the pork fat and went above and beyond. We had a pancakes with blueberries too bad they don't have real maple syrup. She said no one will pay extra, we would. I had omlet with onions, peppers and cheese with a grilled English miffin grilled to perfection. Took a bite before taking a pic but trust me you will love them. We had pineapple mimosa and tea. While on a fishing trip, I had breakfast at this restaurant. The server was very helpful in choosing from the menus. She recommended steak tips and eggs. It came with home fries. The steak was tender and flavorful, the home fries were sweet- a different taste from the usual. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee, it was soooo light, it needed more coffee. Not sure why this place has three stars currently. We walked in and waited about 10 minutes for a table. Table was cleaned very thoroughly before we sat down. The staff was super attentive and the food was very good. Home fries had great flavor and were very fresh. The syrup and ketchup come package separately so everything remains very clean. Our first time eating at Leo's, and found the food, service and seating quite nice. We arrived around 11:00AM on a Thursday, there were about 12 other patrons enjoying breakfast/lunch. Better yet, I won't drive through the rotary nearby without thinking about the 2 hours I spent at Leo's that sad, sad morning. Let me preface this by first insisting the following: I am not a "Yelp guy". To enjoy Leo's, is to sympathize with Cape Cod. Once you cross the Bourne, or the Sag for that matter, things just change. It can't be quantified, unless you're willing to use KPIs like heroin addicts per capita and literacy rate as talking points. And for the sake of keeping ourselves objective and our jabs above the belt, we'll just save that argument for another day. In short, The Cape is 15 years behind where it needs to be, socially. In a few years, over 35+% of its population will be over the age of 65. That's a key driver here. Their generation enabled a period of exponentially increasing diabetes and obesity amongst the populous. Not good. The food was a reflection of this. Preservatives, additives, and artificial spreads were unavoidable. Additionally, people that grow up on Cape are different in all the wrong ways. Four months of the year, locals are inundated by vacation starved mainlanders who converge on their towns and treat everything like a GD carnival. If you work in the service industry on Cape, it's basically seasonal employment. They're swamped in the Summer, and dead in the Winter. None of this bodes well for the individuals responsible for maintaining and delivering quality. The service was piss poor. But that's not a factor in a professional review. The good ones know how hard it is to please patrons individually by undefined standards of dinning assistance. But, the service was horrible. Meals were delivered and side dishes never arrived. So badly so, that they volunteered to not charge us for the sides because they would have arrived 25 mins after our breakfasts arrived. Sad. Indeed, they never arrived. The eggs benedict were awful. The English Muffin was flaccid. The hollandaise sauce was instant and gelatinous. The ham was spam-like and slippery... as if it hadn't made contact with a heat source prior to plating. That said, the dropped egg was perfect. They did the hardest thing well... As if Russel Wilson was running the kitchen... cooking the perfect egg in a game winning drive, only to throw a pick on the 1 yrd line. Sad. Our waitress was defensive and disingenuous, and the menu is fraudulent (the muffins are not homemade... no freaking way were those muffins homemade.) If you want to donate two hours of your time and help someone earn a living, go to your local VA or Animal Shelter and make a difference. If youre in Buzzards Bay and want a breakfast you can trust, go to Dunks and get a bagel. read more

I came here with one of my friends from work after she told me they have great breakfast and she meets other friends here all the time. I have no idea what she found so special in the place. As the other review says, the waitresses act like you're making them go out of their way just to bring you a menu and take your order. The menu is pretty basic.. prices are typically under $6 for meal that will make you full. The specials really aren't so special... eggs,linguica (which I had never had prior to moving to Massachusetts... no Portuguese in the south),pancakes,potatoes. I just stuck with strawberry french toast. Strawberries were fresh and there was plenty of fattening whip cream on top. Now spending an entire morning at a restaurant that could serve as a retirement home, for the amount of over 65 crowd that was in there is not something I really wanted on the top of my to-do list for the day. Consistently have had great breakfasts every time I've been there. I hadn't been there for a year or two so I went to the website to see what time they opened and decided to read some of the reviews. Most were good but some were very dissatisfied stating the place needs an overhaul. My wife and I rode our bicycles there from Bourne Scenic Park. We were hoping it didn't "go downhill". It was crowded line forming at the door - We were seated right away , given menus , a pleasant smile and 2 coffees and 2 waters. My wife asked for milk, I like cream. There have been times other places forget the milk- our server brought her a little pitcher of milk. My wife ordered the eggs benedict and said that it was great. She had so many home fries she gave me some of hers. Perfectly done. I ordered the pancake , 2 eggs and bacon - it was excellent!! My pancake was pretty big I shared half of it. As the only Breakfast place in Buzzards Bay, you hardly get a choice of venue. The food is pretty good, serves its purpose Theres nothing truly special nor different on the Menu. The Service, (lol!) You will most likely be ignored for 5+ minutes after you've had to seat yourself at a dirty table. Then a waitress will sometimes come over and say do you want lunch or breakfast-do you need a menu? Not Hello, Not How are you? And often you'll be made to feel like you've put them out, they have other things to do besides wait on your hungry ass. Like sidework, she wants to go home! With the exception of Cindy, she's sweet and does a GREAT job. Always check your mug before coffee, and always look at the water before you drink it. 8 times out of 10 there will be paper or other nastiness in there. The water...well if you've worked in a bar where the ice has that cold plate in the bottom, you know what lives under there. I have seen it. Saw it today in fact, in my glass. The server asked if i would like another ...umm no thank you. Gross. I basically order the same stuff all the time. I tend to be a really particular (P.I.The A) about breakfast as most people are. I don't have anything bad to say about this place and I don't see why it get's two stars from anyone. I was there at 7 am on a Saturday, plenty of waitresses and the breakfast was fine. Good pancakes, good sandwiches and good eggs and hash. It's breakfast. One thing I noticed and liked was this is a sunny location with shades that you can pull down to keep the sun out of your eyes but I also noticed that the windows were CLEAN! It was... okay. If you're looking for no frills eggs and toast sort of items, then look no further! (My French toast was cold though, and my linguica was dry, but everyone else seemed to enjoy their food... Maybe I just had bad luck.) If you want something a little more.., I don't know, creative or thought out, there are many better choices on the cape. I was appalled that a seaside town would advertise a "crab omelette" that, upon further clarification, was actually prepared with imitation crab meat. Seafood salad and eggs just made my stomach turn. Service was inconsistent; went with a group of 9 that was split into 2 separate tables, which at first we all appreciated. Until we realized that my table had a very slow, albeit nice, waitress; about 3 minutes after we put in our order, the other table's food was put. They were done eating before we even got ours, so they had to wait around for s while. Again, however, the waitress was nice. She was older. Ish. read more

LEO'S!! If anything sums up my childhood of growing up and living on the Cape, it is Leo's Breakfast Restaurant. Buzzards Bay may have grown, but some gems never change. Oh my goodness. The years have come and gone but NOTHING about Leos has changed, not one bit- and I wouldn't have it any other way, period. Growing up, my friends and I would go to Leos as there wasn't much else for a teenager on Cape Cod in the winter time to do. Recently, I met up with a few high-school friends (we're in our 30's now) and grabbed some much needed Leo's breakfast. The restaurant looks just as it did in 2002, not a table, chair, or coat rack had moved / been replaced / updated- I was glad! Their food is exactly the same, waitresses were as warm and inviting as I remembered. When I eat at Leo's I know I am home. If you are looking for an "old Cape Cod" breakfast joint where you can eat your food, sip on your coffee, and enjoy hours long conversation with friends, THIS is the place for you. It is a gem, and if anything ever happened to this establishment I would be devastated! read more

Great eggs, moist fluffy pancakes, excellent bacon, and all for a reasonable price! The place was packed when we got there this morning, and at first we were disheartened, seeing so many people leisurely reading their newspapers and taking cigarette breaks from eating. BUT- once we were seated, the waitress was attentive and prompt with coffee, etc... Cons: the decor leaves ALOT to be desired, and I can't imagine when the carpet was last cleaned. One of the few breakfast places to eat in Buzzards Bay. This is unfortunate. We got there around 9AM on a Friday during the Summer. We were seated within 5 minutes and our order was taken within 5 more minutes. So far so good. It took 1.25 hours to get our food. The waitress was very apologetic and nice but the food took forever!! When my food did arrive my eggs were over cooked. Otherwise the food was not worth the wait. I will brave the bridge next l.
