Terrible service. Asked for the manager and was told "the owner is too busy". Demanded to speak with him, and he came out and told us, yes the waitress was bad "you want me to whip her?". He then said "this is a tourist restaurant, I don't care what you have to say." Then the waitress say "don't even leave me a tip". I'm one of the easiest going people you've ever met and stills pissed off and it's an hour later. read more

Waited 30 minutes just to put in coffe orders, waited another 15 minutes to get menus, after waiting 30 minutes for the waitress to bring our food we were informed they were sold out blueberry muffins. Side orders were forgotten, other groups around us were having the same issues, understaffed I suppose, don't waste your time, go next door if you can, much better. read more

Took 15 minutes for our waitress to realize we were sitting there. After we got our crappy coffee, I don't think I saw her for another 20. We had to catch the ferry so we repeatedly to her that we had to leave soon. She couldn't have cared less. The food surrounding us looked decent but we wouldn't know because we never got ours. DO NOT go here. Better off waiting at a better place read more

One of the worst place to eat breakfast....long line , my coffee was cold service was bad food had no taste home fries was burned menu was dirty, too many bad things . Don't waste your money and time, run away as fast as you can. Very disorganized. This place is a joke!!!!! read more

By far the worst place I have ever been. Sat immediately, then wasn't asked for drink order for 5 minutes. Waited another 5 for that and still didn't get everything. She took our order, which didn't come for about 45 minutes. In that time she never came over to inform about an extended wait or apologize for the wait. When the food finally came it was burnt and terrible. My coffee was only refilled by other staff members by me asking as they walked by, never my waitress. And that was cold too! Would never recommend this place to anyone, even someone I didn't like. Never again!!!!!!! read more

After being seated outside my boyfriend and I waited 15 mins for cold coffee and a waitress that seemed less than thrilled to be there. After we ordered our food we realized there were 2 tables that had picked up and left in a hurry leaving behind an untouched breakfast. Not wanting to risk it..we left right away. read more

Worst service I have ever seen they sat us down and we waited 30 minutes and never seen our server.. I highly recommend going somewhere else .. Don't waist your time here go across the street to the Daily Paper service was fantastic and great food... read more

This placed looked very busy and popular. Don't make the mistake and go there. The staff is rude beyond belief. The manager Kelly took an hour to get us our drinks. Literal hour. I ordered a coffee and when I asked her where it was after an hour, she said they were brewing it. I said to her wow it takes an hour to brew coffee to which she said yes, takes an hour. I wouldn't go there if you offered me a free meal. Better to wait for the competition across the street or even go to a chain like DD or McD. Worse experience ever. read more

I came here with my girlfriend and her 3 cousins for a weekend in the cape and was absolutely in paradise. The only thing the wait staff here didn't do was place a crown on my head and kiss my feet. They were so welcoming and friendly I was taken back at first. We had gone to the gourmet brunch the previous day and had felt as If we were a nuscance with every request or question. After seated, our server Alecia greeted us immediately and gave us steaming hot coffee and crayons for the little ones. I chose one of the omelettes and my girlfriend chose the benedict while the kids had some French toast, a pancake shaped like Mickey mouse, and walffle with strawberries and whip cream. Needless to say my mouth was watering just looking at the menu. We waited about 10 minutes before our food came out; everything was steaming and smelled amazing. And the portions were HUGE! Before any of us could ask for anything else our server had syrup hot sauce and ketchup ready for us. After our first few bites we new we had made the right decision coming here. I definitely recommend this place especially if you have kids you get your money's worth and more! read more

Went for Sunday breakfast while vacationing in Hyannis. We were seated right away on the patio as we requested. Server came over promptly and was very pleasant. I had the classic eggs Benedict which was delicious. I'm sure the other variations are just as good. Very pleasant experience with great food and atmosphere. Family friendly and there were even a couple dogs welcome on the patio. Would recommend. read more

Food was good. Service really sucked. Waited over 20 minutes just to get sugar for my coffee. Our waiter James seemed very frazzled and confused. Definitely wouldn't last a day in the N.J. restaurant industry. Bad way to start the morning. read more

I beg to differ :) Eggs Benedict (with 3 poached eggs, standard) was about the best i've ever had: fresh and hot, hollandaise was excellent. Great home fries and coffee (both also fresh and hot). Good service. No complaints whatsoever. ("Gourmet Brunch" right next door, another matter altogether, although the people are quite nice and welcoming.) read more

Not awful but the food was not great. Pancakes were awful. Avoid if you are a pancake lover.

Not good. The service was slow in spite of having a lot of help just standing around. the home fries were awful I asked if the potatoes were canned they said no but they tasted like metal and had that grey color that happens when they sit cut for to long. There was no seasoning not even salt and pepper. Also was very expensive. I should have gone across the street to the daily paper. read more

Worst food ever !!! Crab cakes were the worst I've ever tasted !! They used imitation crab meat with it !!!! Bacon was burnt . I have nothing good to say about the food read more

very slow, inattentive service, average food that was not worth the wait

Shit show of a restaurant. Horrible service. Food is worse than anything I can make at home. I'm not even a good cook.

Nice servers, quick service, food, not too good. Hash tasted out of a can, English muffins were hard, eggs were fine, hard to mess up a dropped egg. read more

The service wasunbelievably horrible. The orange juice is four dollars a glass. I ordered Challah French toast and got Wonder Bread. Our food literally took over an hour to get. I had to get up and get my own silverware after asking three times. Never received one order of sausage. Avoid!!! read more

I have been going to Hyannis Mass many years and I have always had breakfast at the Egg and I. Just came back from our annual trip in Aug of 2014. The people who rate the Egg an I with one star must be from another planet. The breakfast and service I have experienced has been nothing but superior. Their coffee is the best on the cape. read more

THEY LOST MY CREDIT CARD!!!!! We ate our meal which was just ok. Service sucked and very long wait to get our food. I had to ask for the check and when she took my credit card, she never came back with it. Finally, I asked another waitress to get her. She then said she couldn't find my card! She didn't seem to care all that much and neither did the rest of the staff! After a half an hour of going in circles, I called and canceled it. In the meantime, she never once apologized. I asked to speak to the owner who was a complete ass! He acted like he couldn't understand what I was telling him. I said they should at least comp our meal and the response I got was, why was the food bad??? I couldn't believe that not only did they not care but didn't even offer us anything!!! I filled a report w the local police and basically nothing can be done. So, now I'm on vacation w no money or credit card! Thank you for nothing!!!!! -Very upset visitor read more

Horrible place. Last weekend my parents, my husband, my 9 month old and I stopped in for breakfast. We got there around 10 and it took well over 20 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge us. We ordered coffees and I also asked for a water. We asked to place our food order at the same time. The table next to us had just sat down and they placed their order in after us. We waited a while and we got our coffee. No water. By now it was after 11. The people next to us got their food. Everyone around us was getting their food. Finally it came out I ordered blueberry pancakes which tasted like a box mix. I again asked for the water I had ordered an hour ago. Waitress's replies I was just about to get it. We are done eating and still no water. My mom got up to ask the waitress for a 3rd time for my water and the check. She brings the water over no apology. Again we ask for the check. During this time the older couple that was seated before our food came out got up and left because no one awknowledged them. We didn't get out of there until 12. Overall I think management doesn't give a crap, waitresses are cluelessand the place is clearly understaffed. We did see the tarp separating the bathrooms from the kitchen so gross. I really wish I checked out Yelp before we stopped. The place was busy so we figured it was good. Never again! I'm shocked this place has not been shut down. read more

Just left the Egg and I. Waitress were bickering over tables. Our Waffles had a hint of onion flavor. ( it was the butter I put on i believe). Told the waitress and she did nothing. She should of offered another or not charged us. Would not recommend this place. read more

We had a good breakfast outside here. The service was excellent, but the food was just OK. A side note, their home fries are like skillet potatoes and were very good. read more

Save your money and go to Denny's. You'll get the same quality food for half the price.

best stuffed french toast ever, great service would go back in a minute.

This place has been such an institution in the past but definitely no longer. It was terrible and the service matched. Pancakes were over-cooked and dry, coffee weak and service non-existent. Don't bother! Go to the Daily News instead. It was excellent. read more

If I could give a negative star I would! After an hour of waiting for our food they still could not get the correct order. Took 1.25 hrs to get an English muffin. The waitress did not even apologize. She blamed the kitchen - yet all of our food was so cold it meant she just chose not to get it. It has been over 20years since we tried this place and this was a reminder of why. read more

The food was mediocre. There were items on the menu that they didn't have but we were never informed. The service was terrible. It was not crowded and the wait to get our drinks and food was outrageous. read more

Unfortunately, this place really does deserve the bad reviews. The staff had the all the charisma of a house brick and looked like they wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else. I can't blame them for the ridiculous amount of time it took to get the two of us our breakfast (about 45 minutes), but I can blame them for not keeping us up to date with progress. Anyone of them could have simply come over to us and apologized for the delay, and we would have been a lot less aggravated. The food itself was mediocre. Bad diner quality at best, and totally overpriced. If you can't make eggs, sausage and home fries without screwing up (cold, greasy potatoes, unevenly cooked and cheap sausages and runny eggs), you don't deserve to be in the food service industry. I can see why there was a queue at The Daily Paper just down the road now. They need to get better (and more) cooks and sort out their logistics. If not, hopefully this shambles of a restaurant will disappear into a black hole and be replaced with something a lot better. read more

Do not waste your time or money at this place! We ignored the bad reviews and regret it! My husband and I are eggs benedict addicts and this could have been the worst attempt we have ever seen. The poached eggs were obviously not drained and our english muffins were sitting in a pool of water. We had one bite and told the server we did not want them anymore. She asked if we wanted something else which we declined since we were in a hurry to get to the beach. When she brought the check over she said, "my manager said if you didn't want it to be soggy, we should have ordered the eggs on the side and that we still had to pay". WHAT?! Coming from the hospitality industry I just couldn't believe my ears! We ended up speaking with both the manager and the owner who still claimed that "we do not know what eggs Benedict are because they are always like that" and told us "fine, we will take one order off". We simply walked out. It kills me that all the tourist get trapped into eating here due to their outdoor seating. Run, run fast! This place is a sad excuse of a business. read more

Expected diner atmosphere and food but it was awful food, service and too expensive. :'(

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant since the restaurant we usually frequent was closed and the other restaurant we like had too many people waiting to get in for breakfast. There was no line waiting to be seated and a few open tables when we went into the restaurant. We waited a couple of minutes and the hostess asked how many in our party. He said two. She said we would have to wait while they set up a table. That was fine. One minute later another couple came in and there were only two in their party also and she sat them right away. A party of three came in and they were seated right away. My husband and I were still standing there waiting to be seated! I am usually pretty tolerant but not today. We walked out and went somewhere else. After reading the reviews I guess we were lucky that we didn't have breakfast there. We won't be back for any meal. read more

This place is a mess. Waitress spilt one of our drinks and made no effort to clean it. The food was below average. The waitress then disappeared when it was time for us to pay. As we were walking out the door, she came running over to tell us she gave us the wrong check and we owed her more. Cute name but beware not go! Very overpriced as well read more

Horrible! Our waitress was unfriendly, the bathrooms were disgusting, and we waited so long for our food (simple pancakes that apparently took 30+ minutes when the place was empty) that we ended up just paying for our coffee (which was also gross) and going somewhere else. One of the worst breakfasts i've had in a long time. I ordered the vegetable omelette for over $10 it wasn't very large, the eggs were over cooked yet the cheese was stringy and barely cooked. Toast was burnt with hardly any butter. At the end we had to wait 15 minutes for our waitress to bring the bill and it wasn't even that busy. read more
