EG Construction was the general contractor for us on a junior ADU conversion project for us last year (2024). They did good work, were relatively responsive, and generally stayed within our budget and desired schedule. They also worked relatively well with a handful of subcontractors that we wanted to use for different aspects of the work that needed to be completed. It's been about a year after project completion, and everything seems to be working fine so far. A couple minor issues arose in the past year but they handled them relatively promptly. Review time! Are you sure you want me to review EG Construction? The answer is, of course! Time has passed a bit since Elias and crew completed the project for our home here in San Diego. I just did not have the time to sit down and focus on a review for this company, but I do have time now. The guys who showed up to do the work were great. Communications from the group was excellent, no issues at all while we worked from home. The engineered wood flooring looks amazing and I really appreciate the care they took to provide a high-quality job while completing it within our agreed time schedule. Elias had no issue working this project through the holidays (it was almost Christmas), but good thing it was completed prior to that! Kudos to the crew for working so diligently and at the same time keeping the level of quality in check. No one is perfect, could there be something that they could do to improve? Sure, let's just say we were glad that we were not in a rush to get this project done. E.G. Construction was a bit slow to get back with estimates and follow ups on material prices. Talk about the price, their estimates were in line with other bids we received. Yes, we did shop around and almost went to another contractor, however, my wife leaned towards giving E.G. Construction an opportunity. In any case, the job was done right and that's the most important thing that mattered. This is a family company, so I understand not all process is perfect so I did not mind for some of the communication delays. Paola was straightforward and easy to work with when we got in touch, she also was able to get me an answer when I asked. Also, maybe our home project is really small compared to what they are usually chasing after. Elias seemed to always act responsible and I love his stylish fashion outfit (I like his fashionable glasses the day he showed up for a final follow up with me). Not only do I recommend E.G. Construction, but we do not believe we are done with their services. Labor in general is not cheap, but quality service is not an option and I believe E.G. Construction provides excellent quality. However his wife Paola emailed me on April 17, 2024 saying I would have my estimate in 5 business days. Well it's been 20 business days and still no estimate. this company has un ethical business practices. they hired me as a licensed subcontractor. I have never worked for them before, but was randomly contacted by them and asked to bid a job. after they accepted and approved the contract, I purchased supplies that were cut special for thier job, the day before I was set to install I recieved a text message from them stating that the work had been done by somebody else and I was no longer needed. I asked to be reimbursed for the non returntable supplies I had purchased and was ghosted. they never indicated that they had hired someone else nor had ever mention canceling that contract. I communicated with them several time about time frames and costs and was never once told there was any issue. I don't want to drag anybody to court nor do I think its fair to the home owner to put a lien on the house, but I would hate for any future clients or contractors to get screwed over by these guys read more

I first learned of EG Construction after speaking with a former client of theirs and seeing the beautiful renovation work done in the client's condo, directly across from my own. I then hired them for a couple of small jobs and was very happy with their work. Then, after some significant leak damage, I hired them to do the remediation. EG Construction --the principal, Elias in particular was very helpful in guiding me through the process of navigating the insurance claim process and taking care of the demo and rebuild necessary to bring my place back to shipshape from stem to stern. Elias came out on 8/5/23 to measure for quite a bit of things we wanted done. Carpet, interior paint, lighting, barn door, ceiling fans, kitchen countertops.. it was great! Then was told it would take 5 business days to get the estimate and I've reached out a couple times. After about 3 weeks of no estimate and reaching out a couple times and the last 2 times I've received no response. We went with another contractor.. My wife and I had a big flood in our house, and EG construction and restoration was the only company that was available that weekend, and late in the evening. Elias showed up with his crew and extracted some of the water from our floors, called another company to test our walls for asbestos, and set up machines to prevent any mold while they got the results back. The next day they showed up on time and called us prior to arrival, which was nice because I was able to push my phone calls. Furniture was moved alway from the affected rooms, Drywall, and flooring was removed and cleaned structure. They put plastic up so we could not feel the heat from the machines. It was inconvenient, but they had to dry everything up. Elias also helped us with all the insurance communication and coverage amount agreements. My adjuster accepted their estimate because Elias utilizes the appropriate estimating software that would get me approved for all they did. Before repairs started, Elias already had materials ordered, and ready for after the drying process. He scheduled with us and walked us through the process, gave him the deductible the first day, and as soon as we received payment from insurance, we made them a check for the repairs competed at the moment. Overall, I am super happy! My house looks the same or better than it did before the flood. Of course, we could not upgrades materials or layouts because it would cost us money out of pocket, but our paint is new now and floors are new too. We hired EG Construction to demo a balcony remodel and return it to its original configuration to gain HOA approval. Elias came out right away and gave us a line by line quote. He was very reasonable compared to the other quotes we got. EG Construction was able to start the work right away and worked with our management company to make sure all rules were followed. I loved that they laid out paper to protect the floor and plastic to protect furniture. The project was completed promptly and done at the estimated price. A few days after completion there was a tiny problem and they came at 8am the next day to fix it. Elias of EG Construction just finished a job due to a leak in my garage. The repairs included replacing drywall, texturing, and painting. His workers were efficient and courteous. They cleaned up their work as they went along. I'm very impressed with all aspects of the job. They also had to reattach several shelves that were in sections and did a great job with that too. I recently hired EG construction to revamp my kitchen and install wood flooring throughout my house. I found them on Google, and from the start, I was very impressed with what they said they could do. I looked them up to make sure they had their contractors license and indeed they do . when they first came out, I asked them if they would be here every day until it was completed. They assured me that they would be here, and would specifically be working on this project. they estimated it would take six weeks and it did. Their workers were here every day, even on Saturdays sometimes. My kitchen, when it was completed, looks like a model kitchen. EG construction gave me much more than I asked for, lots of bang for the buck, so to speak. My stress and worry was curbed from initial contact with Elias with his prompt service and explaining the detail plan and process of work.
