Jorge and his team did a total remodel of our 1940's home, all the way to the studs, including new electrical and plumbing. The project was daunting, so much so that flippers wouldn't even submit offers on this home pre-remodel. The design was ours, but the work was 90% done by his team or subs (except the roof, retaining walls, and some tile work). We would do it again with Jorge! He listened to my wife and I equally. He fixed mistakes they made, even if just misunderstandings. He made counter-recommendations to help us manage costs. His primary team Jose and David were always helpful and their cleanup was exemplary. It is important to be fair and communicate that he takes on too many projects, so the timelines proposed were not nearly close. As they say, "Good, Fast, Cheap; Pick two." Started out great. Good communication and good work. Their workers were great (friendly, good work). 1/2 way through it turned into never knowing when they were coming onsite until maybe the day before, minimal communication and not following through on other changes/project information we requested. Also, we agreed to changes on our project along the way (which they agreed to) but never any contract update nor price change. In the end, we felt we overpaid for the work they performed. I'm going to start out with the good: they did an awesome job on the tile that I had them install for me. Unfortunately this is the only good thing I really have to say about working with Tierra Nexus. Granted, no one seems to like their contractors but my issues stem from the lack of communication to keep me informed and the fact that it took them 3 weeks to complete a job that they advised would take 1 week. The lack of communication meant that they installed some lights in the wrong position and then their correction was quite lazy. They installed the bathroom lights upside down and when I asked them to correct it they just flipped them over and they were now positioned way too low. So if you are looking for someone to install tile for you, then Tierra Nexus will do a good job but you might want to shop around for lower prices. I would not recommend them for any other work which includes painting and installing things like lights/fans. read more

I very very rarely write reviews about vendors or contractors. I've only written when they are really really bad or really really good.  This company (Tierra Nexus Construction) is is one of the best and most professional licensed contractor that I've ever had the pleasure of working with.  Jorge is amazing and knows so much about so many things.  He's one of the most knowledgeable general contractors that I've ever met with reasonable prices. Repairs and maintenance on our house is challenging because sits on a steep hillside and is three stories high.  Tierra Nexus was one of the few companies that would take on some of our most challenging projects. This included rebuilding completely a three-car driveway on a steep hillside and rebuilding completely our garage stairs in a difficult and inaccessible area (exterior hanging stairs between the 2nd and 3rd floors). In addition they have done several smaller projects which I've been very pleased with.   I have the highest recommendation possible for Tierra Nexus and Jorge.  You'll be very pleased with her work!! I interviewed several contractors in Spring 2016 and found Jorge's quote to be the best and felt he would be the best to work with. Also he and his team remodeled a bathroom for my relative so he came recommended. I kind of knew what to expect of him. So in September I nailed down the quote for my remodel as specific as possible and his team started work in November and completed in four months. The scope was full kitchen remodel and two bathroom remodels. Also as I saw him complete work, I added a few other things to the scope of the project - install new doors, paint house trim. Overall I am very pleased with the work and I have told many people this so I'm sure one day he'll get more business from my recommendation. The primary persons working on my remodel were: Jorge, Jose (onsite contractor), Jose, David, Alan. All were fantastic. Also, Tierra Nexus subcontracted kitchen/bathroom cabinetry work with Gabriel and Sergio. The final quality of their work was excellent too, although there were areas that needed immediate reworking to make acceptable quality and so I pushed back on that. Jorge immediately fixed and ensured good quality and that I was satisfied. Also, countertop fabrication was done through Antonio and team in Lemon Grove. I did not enjoy working with Antonio - he tried to rush my choice of where to cut the stone - but I prevailed in choosing - and the resulting cut of the stone for countertops came out great and I was please with the result. All in all, I highly recommend Tierra Nexus. All contractor work is difficult for both sides (customer and business) so you need to be on top of everything. What I liked most about working with the team at Tierra Nexus was that they did quality work, were very professional and courteous, very good at providing direction and suggestions for design decisions, but yet respected my input and my overseeing of most every thing they worked on. In the course of four months where they worked almost every day, with exception of a week or two where we waited for something before continuing work, I only pushed back (got frustrated, complained, and/or yelled) on work items a few times. As a final data point, since this remodel completion in early 2017, I have shown the work and shared my stories of the remodel to many others and my takeaway from getting feedback from them is that 1) the quality of my remodel is above average 2) my experience of working with the contractors was much better than average. Both these say a lot. So many people have had bad experiences with their remodels. I did not. I highly recommend Tierra Nexus for any remodeling work. I had a very difficult time finding someone to install light fixtures in my vaulted ceiling (including the electrical work). I finally found someone, but that person flaked the day before the work was supposed to be done. Fortunately, I was referred Jorge Parra-Loli, President of Tierra Nexus Corporation, by a buddy who was raving about Jorge's work at his home, building an office. Jorge was willing to meet with me the same day I called, letting him know the electrician I had hired suddenly wasn't going to be able to follow through as scheduled (I was ticked because I used a vacation day from work to stay home). Jorge gave me an estimate (far more reasonable than what I had been quoted by the electrician), we scheduled for Saturday at 7am (two days later), a time that worked for me and my family. Jorge had the light fixtures installed by 9:30am. Jorge was ontime for both appointments (estimate and to do the work). He's a very nice guy, competent, professional and considerate. My wife and I are already preparing a list of items around the house in need of repair for a return visit from Jorge. I can't give him a higher recommendation. read more

Can't speak to this companies work, because after the owner showed up to give an estimate, he never got back to me. I was told he'd have a formal estimate for me within a week. A little over a week later I left him an email, no reply. The next day I called and he said he was working on it and I'd have it the next day. That was a month ago. I called Jorge after reading the reviews on Yelp. He showed up the next day to give me a quote to install 1 light fixture and 2 chandeliers on a vaulted ceiling (18 feet up). It was roughly $150 more than the cost to do it myself and I liked Jorge so I agreed to contract him. He and his crew (Ernie & Johnny) arrived on time the following week and did an outstanding job on the installation. They were all professional and courteous, traits from a bygone era. Bringing the scissor lift inside the house was challenging but they custom built a ramp on the spot to get it done. They listened attentively to my instructions and executed exactly as I had asked. I knew the job ended up costing Jorge more than the amount quoted but he stood by his figure; nevertheless, I paid him more. I do many jobs myself so I'm somewhat picky. I started by sending an email with a picture of a project I wanted done and Jorge agreed to come out the next day and give me an estimate. I needed an opening done between two walls on a weight bearing wall. There was some electrical and plumbing involved that was not a problem for him. I received the initial estimate for the project but it was a little over my budget and Jorge was able to work with me to get closer to my budget. He was extremely professional, his crew tried to keep the house as clean as possible and cleaned up after themselves daily. He gave me a 3 day estimate for my project and stuck to the timeline. The first time I called Tierra Nexus...Jorge the owner answered the call himself (shocker)...THEN...when we met at my condo to discuss the scope of the work and make up my "wish list" he showed up on time (impressive). He was really considerate the whole way through the project which included updating a condo that hadn't been touched in 25 years. We picked Jorge out of 7 other contractors, to build a new master bathroom for us. Jorge kept us informed and at ease all along . The workmanship was excellent, soooo during the addition we made a few more "additions"... we asked to have a weight bearing wall removed and new tile placed in the kitchen, entry, and living room for a total of over 400 sq." Jorge said "NO problem" so while we went on vacation his crew started on the floor tile, I felt completely at ease leaving Jorge and crew in our home while we were gone for 10 days. Then we asked for part of our driveway to be dug up and re poured as the old cement had cracked in several places... again "No problem." So with all of this done I asked for one more thing... the front door to be changed out and once again "NO problem" was the answer. Now back to the main addition, Jorge took me to find just the right granite for the countertops, and the perfect tile for the new bathroom, we spent a good portion of the afternoon doing this but it was not a concern for Jorge. He said his job was to make sure we were happy with everything, and we are. The new bathroom has custom cabinets, beautiful granite, and tile on the floor and shower, and the walls are hand textured . Just beautiful! My husband and I met with a total of five contractors when we decided it was time to remodel our master bathroom. When we met Jorge, the owner of Tierra Nexus, we got a good vibe from him, and considered hiring him on the spot, but we wanted to be 'careful,' so decided to follow through with the other contractors we'd already made appointments with. We could have saved ourselves a lot of time and stress if we'd just gone with our gut instinct about Jorge. Jorge was professional and friendly, listened carefully to our ideas, and patiently answered the myriad questions we asked. I designed the bathroom and Jorge and his team executed my design beautifully. One of the things I liked best about working with Tierra Nexus was their straightforward approach to pricing. The other contractors we met with couldn't tell us with any specificity what the final cost of the remodel would be, due to the (apparent) industry practice of giving the customer 'allowances' for the various components of a remodel. Although the practice may be widely used, in my opinion it's just another way for the contractor to pad his profit. Jorge told us upfront what the 'hard' costs would be, e.g. demolition, labor, and, in general, everything a remodel entails EXCEPT the materials - the 'soft' costs, which we were responsible for providing and paying for out of pocket. The remodel ended up costing less than any of the other quotes we were given, despite the fact that I used some fairly high end products. We absolutely LOVE our gorgeous new bathroom! Jorge and his team were easy to work with, always arrived on time, and were very respectful. I can't say enough about the awesome Jose Puentes, who did the majority of the work on our bathroom. He often arrived earlier than scheduled, but would sit in his truck and wait for me to stagger out of bed and unlock the gate he entered through - I am NOT a morning person! Jose worked like a DOG - I don't think I've ever seen a harder worker - but was always so pleasant and friendly. I left the house quite frequently to run errands, etc., and never felt uncomfortable having Jose there alone. We are hoping to eventually further improve our house, and will be contacting Jorge to assist us. We needed a contractor to install a new front entry door and double French doors at our home in Vista. We have worked with many contractors over the years, and unfortunately good ones are few and far between... Jorge is one of the good ones... He answered the phone when I first called him (a rarity), he came to our house at the scheduled time to determine the scope of the work, and he provided a written estimate the very next day. Jorge (the owner) was fantastic to work with and we love our final renovation. He was timely, honest, professional, and overall wonderful to work with.
