I got my small bathroom drywalled by Sergio and his team. I had already hung the drywall myself so all I asked them to do was mud and give me a level 5 smooth finish. Pros: I'm satisfied with the end result and it only took about 7 hours total of labor. Also, they're good at keeping the house clean. Cons: Sergio raised his price on me twice. When he saw the room, he told me he needed to charge an extra $300 to make it level 5 smooth, even though I told him what I wanted on the phone the day prior and we agreed to a price. Then, he was going to make an adjustment to the vanity drain pipe. I told him I didn't want him to. He proceeded to do it anyways and then charged me for the material he bought. **EDIT** Sergio messaged me after seeing this review and told me how bad of a job I did to prep the walls and that's why he had to raise the price. I would strongly suggest you don't use this guy for your drywall project. read more

This guy has to be the most disrespect and unprofessional contractor I've ever dealt with. Agreed to start a job on Thursday at 9am and no shows. I call and he says they got hung up on a job and can't make it but will "try" to come at 2pm the same day. Text that he's on the way. A few minutes later text me saying he can't find my location. I text him back and he says he's been "driving around for a long time" and when I call he doesn't pick up, obviously blocked me. Doesn't respond. Just left. We were to have a commercial floor cut and sealed. I had all other subcontractors take the day off and cleared out the job site. I'm now down a full day, costing me money and time and longer delays now having to find a new concrete finisher. read more

My search for a good & fair priced handyman started in September. My mom rents out her condo in San Marcos and I live nearby so I help manage it. So whenever there's a problem (ie broken AC, leaks, anything broken) I have to find a solution to fix it. Well, problems started happening in September. My tenant texted me saying there were water bubbles forming in the ceiling, they were on the 3RD floor, and eventually traveled to the 2nd floor (it's a 3 story townhouse). Turns out, the AC line was clogged and the condensation was not draining properly causing it to flood the attic. At this point, I called an emergency plumber to fix it. That plumber came in, put 4 holes in the ceiling drywall, vacuumed the water out, and advised to let it all dry out before drywall can be patched up. After I paid the plumber, the plumber never followed back up with fixing the drywall. So the 4 holes in the ceiling drywall stayed like that till yesterday December 16, 2015.... 3 months. I had plans for my father-in-law to patch it, but he broke his hand so those plans fell through. Then I went to Home Depot in San Marcos one day looking at kitchen appliances and I asked them if they had handymen I could hire and that is how I found Sergio's Construction. Home Depot said that the handyman will contact me, and within 30 minutes, Sergio called. I went an unconventional way of getting an estimate but Sergio was still able to give me a quote. I had pictures of the drywall holes that needed to be fixed, I sent him pictures of it and he came back with a quote of around $1k. I think this was end of October beginning of November. Well, I kept putting fixing it off, then I called and sent another company to give me a quote (they quoted me $2k!!), then I contemplated some more, and finally came around and gave Sergio the ok to do work. I did drag my feet a lot to fix the drywall, but that's a lot of money for me! Sergio was professional. He emailed me a breakdown of the cost of everything, plus he said he could install 2 bathroom vanity lights for me as well. He said he could finish it all in a day as well and he did! I went by yesterday when they were painting the drywall, and everything looked great! I was really impressed with how fast he was and the tenants were happy with the results as well. I will definitely be using him again for any future projects (which is probably very soon, since I need an oven installed and he said they do that as well). We made an appointment for a quote on a bath remodel. They gave us a one hour window of 2-3pm on a Saturday and we asked that they call when they were on their way. At 2:45, we had not heard from them, so we called them asking if they would be showing up by 3. They responded they could come over at 3:30, with no explanation as to why they did not make the original appointment time or why they hadn't called us. We had another scheduled appointment at 3:30, so we told them no thank you. For us, this was not a good first impression, so we will not pursue a quote from them. read more

We set a date and time, and approved his written estimate. Sergio and his crew showed up on time, quickly and deftly removed the old slab, and replaced it with new concrete. The experience of building a lifelong, heavy duty vinyl fence was positive! I found Sergio's Construction through Home Depot's list of suggestions. I called a few contractors and Sergio was most helpful in answering my many questions. He was ready and motivated! I needed to feel the construction was of very high quality, to match my high quality vinyl fence I purchased, without paying too much. I did not go with the least expensive and I did not go with the most expensive. Sergio's construction was reasonable for all the amount of labor involved with removing an old painted fence, the old posts, leveling the area for a straight linear fence and building a beautiful fence. There were slopes of banks involved also. Sergio helped me with ordering additional materials needed to get the job done. I was happy with their work ethic of cleaning up while they go and keeping things neat which is tough to do in these circumstances. He removed it all, did extra repair to some water damaged areas, put in level plywood and then installed our new floor and replaced the base boards. I hired Sergio's Construction to do simple exterior stucco repair and painting between 17-21 Apr 2020. While they arrived on time and were polite, the crew was sloppy and reckless. They broke a motion detector flood lamp, left trash, and didn't clean up even after photos were taken of their mess. What's more, after showing Sergio the damage and before I could re-inspect the clean-up, they'd left the site. To my surprise, they also left the uncoiled garden hose in the middle of the walkway with the front gate standing open. With such disregard for my home, I didn't want them to return. It appears they operate on 'speed of service' and not quality or workmanship. Sergio seems preoccupied with amassing new jobs only to leave his crew unsupervised. Recommendation: If you value your home, look elsewhere. Totally unprofessional. read more
