Personally, I love that about her and one should seriously consider if slow Wi-Fi is affecting your rating when you are in the midst of history so beautifully preserved and presented if you are really in the right place. If you read this far you don't care if I'm a snob, but outside of the United Kingdom there is not a better high tea available. The fact that the story was true and that this famous singing family settled in Stowe, VT because it reminded them of their homeland, well, it's been a long-time dream of mine to visit the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe and feel the connection in person. And so I did... in July 2025, some SIXTY years after seeing the Sound of Music. We actually didn't stay here, which seems kind of odd considering what a fan I am. Now that I know how much there is to do in Stowe... and at the lodge itself, perhaps if we come back with plans to stay longer, I would stay here. The Von Trapp Family Lodge has so much to offer a person... whether one stays here or not. These are some of the activities: 1. Hiking 2. Mountain biking 3. Skiing / Cross-country skiing 4. Horse-drawn carriage rides 5. Sleigh Rides 6. Disc golf 7. Yoga / Massage 8. Bicycle rentals 9. Tennis 10. Swimming 11. Rock Climbing Wall 12. Indoor arts / crafts / culinary classes 13. Wine and/or beer tastings 14. Choice of 4 restaurants We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the lodge and grounds and learning more about the family and the history behind the lodge. Since this (ironically) my 1700th review, it's fitting that such a special place falls on a noteworthy review number.

Stunning bridal suite. Plenty of space. That is why we originally selected it as our wedding venue. What we didn't know at the time is that we were hiring some of the best wedding professionals in the business - the dynamic duo of Steve & Jenn. I am not exaggerating when I say I'd get married pretty much anywhere as long as they were running the show. Let me start with how incredibly responsive they were. As a wedding vendor also, this is something I greatly appreciate. I would ask a question and get a response usually within 10 minutes. Jenn & Steve made everything pretty effortless for us. Steve helped us with bar selections, table lay out and set up specialty cocktails. Jenn coordinated with all of our vendors for arrival times, set up and take down. We were able to drop off all of our decor on a Wednesday and Jenn had it all set up when we came Friday for our rehearsal. What a special treat for our bridal party and close family to be able to preview the venue with the majority of the decor set up. A review of our wedding day: we had downpours in the morning and in to the afternoon. The team at the Barn set up for an indoor ceremony just in case. Our ceremony was at 4:30pm and downpours came again at 4:15. As I (the bride) was coming down the stairs the clouds parted and I gave the nod to have the ceremony outside - probably right at 4:30pm. Jenn had the team dry off chairs outside not once, but twice after 4pm and we were able to have our ceremony outside, just as we had envisioned. I doubt you will find this level of flexibility anywhere else where you can literally make the call at the very last minute - it meant everything to us to be able to get married with the mountains in the background. The rest of the night was absolutely flawless. Steve made sure to bring us cocktails during dinner, Jenn brought us an array of apps so we could enjoy our cocktail hour while photos were being taken. I had no idea what time it was all throughout the night, but Jenn made sure things were executed on time. She clearly is a professional and seems so chill but is also so organized and direct when she needs to be. The Barn is no doubt the best place to get married in Vermont. I wish I could do it all over again - every moment was absolutely magical. Thanks Steve & Jenn for our perfect day - look forward to working with you both as a wedding vendor and getting to visit the place we got married often.

Jen and Steve have created a space that is both chic and elegant, while retaining the signature VT charm. Every detail has been thought out, from amenity baskets for guests in the lovely restrooms, to an en suite shower for the bride to use on the day. From the beginning of our discussion with the wonderful owners, we knew we had finally found our venue. My husband and I had our makeup wedding (after two Covid postponements over the past three years) this past weekend and it was nothing short of magical. Jen and Steve were kind enough to work with us, graciously accommodating our schedule changes, as well as being incredibly flexible as the scope of our day shifted from a large 180-person shindig to an intimate 30-person DIY experience. They allowed ultimate personalization: granting me the opportunity to come on the property the day before to setup our table spread per my vision and providing a delicious signature cocktail along with our open bar. With every interaction, the owners make you feel special and excited for your day, as if they are close family friends celebrating with you. Our guests noted the quality of the bar selections, as well as the delicious catered food provided by Sugarsnap. We all agreed that the meals represented the best food anyone had ever experienced at a wedding. Kristen was a delight to work with as we coordinated our culinary selections for the big day. All and all, this is the perfect venue run by caring and thoughtful owners and their incredible staff. You cannot beat the natural beauty that surrounds this soulful space, nor the gorgeous interior.
