What an exceptional experience at Edson Hill! With at least 2 weeks advance notice, Edson Hill was able to accomodate us vegans. And wow, did they blow us away! Edson Hill arranged a pre fixe menu for us. - The Brussel Sprouts cooked to perfection, savory, smoky, hint of sweetness, and nutty from the pignoli dukkah and salt. - The Arugula and Beet Salad was so fresh, a beautiful balance of spiciness from the arugula, earthy sweetness from the beets, and sweetness candied pecans, and brightness from the dressing. - The Fig & Radicchio Salad was one of my favorites and what I will be dreaming about! Savory and smoky from the radicchio, subtle sweetness from the figs, varied textured with candied pistachios, and Chef Dylan's take on a vegan burrata... chef's kiss! - The Maple Soy Glazed Foraged Mushroom Pate was sourced from foraged mushrooms on the property (And Chef Dylan's mushroom guy is vegan!). What a treat! The broth was so umami and delicious! The pate wrapped in napa cabbage was so beautiful and a nice hint of sweetness from the maple and yams. - The Peach Streusel was a lovely finish, nice balance of tart, sweet, and richness. A sincere and serious thank you to Chef Dylan who's vegan cooking blew us away and could feel his passion in making exceptional dishes and experiences, Lei who helped coordinate our reservation and correspondence and the entire Edson Hill staff who made our experience so memorable. It far exceeded our expectations on service, the food, and I cannot thank you enough! We come to Stowe every year and will definitely be back if you will take us! I highly recommend Edson Hill as your next special occasion out when in Stowe. Thank you!

We knew it would be difficult to get a Fri-Sat reservation (we tried for several weeks), so we opted for a mid-week one. Edson Hill is exactly as others have described: intimate, cozy, warm and delightful. There is a comfy waiting area with fireplace; the bar downstairs has a lovely lounge with fireplace and views of the pond and mountains. If it was warmer temps, there's a beautiful brick patio outside. We nabbed a 5pm seating because I had class at 8pm and we wanted sufficient time to nosh and relax beforehand. We took a walk around the grounds, which are quite lovely. My understanding is that there is sometimes live music outside on the lawn, which sounds fun. The bartender was very friendly and their special cocktail menu changes all the time. Our server was pleasant, but I have a feeling she is used to a certain type of clientele. One of the first things she mentioned was that there would be no substitutions on the menu's main dishes. We hadn't intended to make any (not our thing), but I can see why this might be necessary to mention. We didn't see a main dish with sides that we truly wanted, so we decided to order several appetizers and make enough room for dessert. Our server seemed a little surprised that we weren't ordering main dishes (and having worked in the industry, I know what she may have been thinking). We started with two bowls of the Butternut Squash and Carrot Ginger Soup, which is served with kale chips. It was potentially vegan, as it appeared to be a velouté without cream (nut or dairy). I wish it had a bit more salt, but it was otherwise tasty. We followed that with an order of the Cider Glazed Pork Belly, which was served with micro greens, apple and pickled jicama. It was delicious. We also ordered the Fried Brussel Sprouts with smoked maple, pine nuts nutritional yeast, and Parmesan cheese. They were fantastic. We also had the Roasted Beets with beet molasses, candied pecan, chèvre and pumpkin powder. Also excellent. For dessert, we ordered the Flourless Chocolate Torte, which was served with cherries, pomegranate and a maple whipped cream. It was very good. All in all, it was a delightful mid-week meal out. I'll come here for après ski this season, to get cozy downstairs in the lounge.

My wife and I spend 3 magical nights at Edson Hill during peak foliage October 2024. Our room was located in the Hemlock House adjacent to the Manor House (which houses reception, the restaurant, the downstairs tavern in addition to several guest rooms). Room 11 was immaculate. Amazingly comfortable bed, perfect pillows, superb views of the property from our windows and a cozy (gas) fireplace with a large brick hearth and a nice tea/espresso station. I believe some rooms do have wood burning fireplaces as we saw the wood stacked outside other rooms (if you prefer that). The restaurants were great but we favored the tavern for its more intimate and authentic pub atmosphere. The included breakfasts were amazing and quite possibly the bacon the best I've ever had. Staff were personable and gracious. We cannot wait to return in the future.

1000% yes! Edson Hill is warm, welcoming, homely and good to go solo, on a date or group. From start to finish, the experience is exceptional. I was welcomed by Peter, and another young man who were extremely kind. By the way, this is a review for the restaurant located within the inn. Michelle was my server and every recommendation was a hit; the scallops, beet salad and duck were spectacular! The McBride sister's Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect pairing and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Please check it out and enjoy!

The environment is great and service is excellent. We came here in a non peak season so food was very fast, server is attentive and view is great. The food is good but nothing really stands out to justify the hefty price tag.

AMAZING! Placed on a beautiful landscape, you can enjoy a gorgeous view while you dine here. The building itself was very inviting and cozy; while we were waiting for our table we were invited to the living room which was a comforting area filled with couches and art on the walls. Additionally, the dining area had nice tables and everything just fit with a modern- rustic type design. In regards to food, it was delicious. For appetizers we ordered the brussel sprouts and charcuterie board and were not dissatisfied by either. The board had a variety of cheeses that were all great and some side dips like hummus and a fruit spread. The brussel sprouts were salted and seasoned perfectly, I just wish the portion was bigger. Entrees I got a halibut dish that just melted in your mouth!! LITERALLY!! And for dessert we enjoyed the chocolate hazelnut panna cotta along with poached pears and sweet potato cookies. All were perfect and not too sweet- which we experience at most restaurants. Definitely pricey, but would go again!

View from the restaurant at breakfast.

Top notch experience all around. I had heard amazing things about this place and it did not disappoint. The rooms is unbelievably cozy and they really thought of everything. The bed might be the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever experienced, the heated floors in the bathroom was an unexpected touch of luxury, and the wood burning fireplace was fantastic. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, as well as enjoyed drinks from the tavern. It's difficult to find bad food in Stowe, but the restaurant at Edson Hill was the best food we had during our stay. Make sure you make a reservation for dinner at least once while you are there. The tavern is also worth visiting. The decor is super cute and the drinks were fantastic. It's also worth mentioning that the staff could not have been nicer. They were warm, friendly, and extremely accommodating. The tavern and restaurant are closed 2 days a week, but the manager went out of her way to get us a beer anyway when we had time to kill before our dinner reservation in town. Finally, if all of this wasn't enough, the grounds are breathtaking. There isn't a corner of this property that isn't picture worthy. We will definitely be back.

Could not recommend staying here more! Every detail is perfected. Was not super impressed by the dinner, but drinks were fantastic. Top tier organization!

We decided to head east to celebrate our anniversary and settled on the Stowe area as our destination. I found Edson Hill online and we made that our base for our 4-night visit. Edson Hill is a beautiful and quiet country inn consisting of a main lodge and several 4-unit manor buildings spread around the wooded, mountainous property. You really feel like you are away from things up here and have no problem seeing the night sky littered with stars. Our room, #14, was in one of the buildings just up the hill from the main building and featured a beautiful king bed, wood-burning fireplace all set up for us, a cozy day bed, modern bathroom and decent sized room. Pluses: -beautiful grounds-peaceful setting away from hustle and bustle of Stowe yet short easy drive to town or other attractions -comfortably furnished room with ample space -EXCELLENT wood burning fireplace with plenty of easy-to-light dry wood and kindling-we had a fire every night! -friendly, helpful front desk staff -genial host/owner Eric ch cos in with people-spot him wearing a red vest -breakfast is included -the have a wonderful restaurant but you need reservations for dinner Opportunitities -breakfast service (nice that it's included) but service really leaves something to be desired-especially on the weekend days when it was grand central station right when they opened. No one tells you how it works when you check in (FYI: breakfast opens at 8, there seems to be a mad rush right when it opens as when we arrived, usually at 8:30 the muffins and juice were largely gone. Also, as to the menu, there are two choices each day, or you can get basic eggs, and there is usually sides like sausage, bacon, potatoes). On our second day the server forgot to submit our order-clearly still learning. -bed-I think the mattress in our room has seen better days and was a bit saggy-we rolled to the middle each night Overall just a few minor annoyances-a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !
