Separate room for sink instead of inside the bathroom

Overall I felt the room was renovated a few years ago and not recent. The room was located at the Mountain View building at the main floor and not the basement or upper floor. The fire place is a false fireplace that blow out hot air. The bed frame is a metal box that creeks. The mattress overall wasn't great, felt worn. Blankets were iffy, but no bedbugs! If you are a light sleeper, be prepared to bring ear plugs. At night we heard the pipes either from the heating system or water banging. Also, noise from the upper floor unit can be heard when they're walking, door banging and pipes from toilet flushes and showers.

I stayed one night at the Grey Fox and I have to thank Brittany (sp?) for being so amazingly awesome. It seems that I'm out of the habit of booking my hotel reservations because I accidentally picked Monday night instead of Tuesday night so when I showed up on Tuesday (literally as she was going home for the night), they did not have a booking for me. Brittany got it set and even though they probably should have charged me for the night before, they did not. So kudos to her and that's why this is a five star review. My upstairs room was very warm when I got there. I turned on the wall air conditioning unit but it really couldn't keep the place anywhere near cool or comfortable. It was a warm night's sleep. Bed was comfortable but the temperature was not. I had a lovely shower that night with a decent amount of hot water. Rinsed off the sweat and got as cool as I could. In the morning, not so much. I could barely get the water to come out warm. Uncomfortable. The room was spacious with a large queen bed and a fold out sofa with a small coffee service and a mini-fridge. Large flat panel television on the wall and a decent (though filtered) wifi network. Overall, I'd probably not choose the Grey Fox again for a summer stay.

Even though it seemed all the rooms were booked last weekend, the hotel was very quiet. The rooms have Beekman products like soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner (which I love). What I didn't like was the coffee pod left in the machine when I went to make a morning coffee. Kind of gross. But everything else was clean. There was a fridge, microwave, balcony, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and a small fitness area. I also didn't like the app to download which is how you unlock the room door. It was pretty glitchy but the front desk gave us a key card to use instead. Overall, I'd stay here again.

What a wonderful centrally located place to stay when in Stowe! Can walk to downtown and many restaurants nearby. All the staff were Helpful and went out of their way to be sure we had a perfect experience! I recommend you stay in the separate building where we stayed in a lovely room with kitchen stocked with all needed to store, cook and serve meals. Our room also had a beautiful fireplace, large smart TV, deck and view to the greens and forest behind the buildings. You could walk over to the recreation path that takes you to town and all along the Little River! There is a "Stowe Quiet Path" you can pick up from the paved rec path. All so very lovely! I walked miles while hubby went fly-fishing. After all these good workouts, I enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools at the Grey Fox as well as the sauna and whirlpool spa!!! And we loved having a cozy fire every am and pm! Loved, loved, loved our stay at the Grey Fox Inn!!

Overall very satisfied with my stay. When I first checked in I was in an older remodeled room in the main building. The first night a leak started in my bathroom that came from the room above me. After speaking with management, they were very accommodating and promptly upgraded me to a new room at no extra charge of course. The new building has very nice rooms. The beds are comfy and there kitchen has all the essentials to cook. Our cleaning service came everyday and did a very good job. The WiFi worked well and the tv was brand new with cable. I even tried out the swim/sauna and it was really nice. Brand new and clean. I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at Grey Fox and would definitely stay there again. Tip: if it snows you may get stuck in the lot, don't expect them to plow everyday.

All remodeled and very well done. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Great location in rec path and walking distance to great bakery, some restaurants and bars.

I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

All these hotels have a fun vibe. We stayed in the main lodge. The rooms in the main lodge are very simple, the first floor of the lodge is the communal living room. They had fruit, pastries and a protein of sorts, coffee and hot chocolate. In the evening we enjoyed a cocktail at the bar, which has live music some nights 7:00-9:00. There is a hot tub you can reserve for 30 minute increments. We opted to pass due to the weather and our short visit in the area. In the summer, there is a pool, which looks like a lovely set up. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We did visit during peak leaf peaking season, so it was pricey for the room type, but that's what you can expect anywhere in Stowe in October.

We stayed for two nights and weren't able to have a fire in our room with a fireplace (that we specifically chose) because all of the wood they provide is wet or green. It was clean, but not immaculate. Sheets and towels aren't bright white, they have a used/yellowed look to them. The pool and the Jacuzzi are nearly pointless - severely outdated, grubby, and depressing to be honest. Breakfast is store-bought pastries, bagels... Kind desk staff.

There was an unlocked door connecting to another room which felt really unsafe, especially since it was all women in our group. The bathroom door didn't even close and the rooms looked nothing like the photos. It seemed like they just painted over everything to make it look nicer than it actually was. I mentioned the unlocked door to the front desk and the guy brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. We ended up switching rooms but the new one wasn't much better. The AC made a loud ticking noise and kept shutting off in the middle of the night. None of us slept well. The shower was awful. Barely any pressure and no consistent temperature. You'd honestly be better off showering in the rain. The next morning we went to grab breakfast and bought a few muffins. Every single one had green fuzzy mold on it. We got a refund but they left the rest of the moldy muffins in the fridge which was honestly really gross. Overall the place just felt unsafe and not properly maintained. The only thing we liked was the pool and hot tub but that alone is not enough to make me want to stay here again.

We were a party of 9 that night We ordered the humus and it was the best thing on the menu. We had 4 orders of the kale soup, it came out cold and was like water with a few things pitched in. The bartender said there might not be enough servings of the soup, they added water to make more servings. We had mushroom toast and meatballs all very bland and not well prepared. But the awol flatbread was a joke. it was just bread with a hint of toppings. I am not sure if the bartender was trying to cook , but we tried to get food for 9 people , it took hours , It was unbelievable what was served and I came home and made a sandwich . I am at a loss for words how bad this was. This also cost about $300.00, A bag of pretzels and some chips would have been more tasty. This was an obvious example of some one in the kitchen who did not know what to do, and rather not serve bad food they threw together what they could . Horrible , awful , frustrating, amateur, and a total rip off More Date of stay: July 2025

I stayed in the Double Queen bed, handicap accessible room. It was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. I found that they didn't have a lot of functional things in the room. There weren't a lot of places to hang up towels. They didn't give the usual hotel toiletries like the shower caps, cotton swabs, makeup remover wipes, etc. They did have an electric kettle in the room and a little tray where they had some tea bags, hot coco packets, and an ice bucket. I couldn't find the other amenities from the other review like the noise machine. We only went to the main building to check in and check out, but I did see the hot coffee station and the gift shop. I didn't use either of these. I did, however, enjoy the complimentary smores one night when I had a sweet tooth. They put the kits out by the restaurant on site and there were two fire pits with a few chairs. I wish they had more, smaller fire pits so it could be a more private experience. (The people sitting at the fire pit didn't seem to appreciate when we asked if we could use the fire for smores.) The fire pits are also by an inground pool and a hot tub. The pool had signage that said it was closed, but they did not cover the pool. I'm not sure if the hot tub was open and I didn't see anyone use it during my stay. The WiFi was abysmal, which really was inconvenient because my boyfriend and I did not get great cell service for the entire trip. We were really relying on WiFi when we went to different businesses to plan things and make reservations. Because WiFi was not great at the hotel, some functions of the TV were unusable. These could be growing pains for the hotel if they are a newer business in Stowe, so hopefully they continue to grow and improve because the location is great and the foundation of a great hotel is definitely there!
