We were able to stay with our miniature poodle in this unit. Lots of pluses. First, the central A/C worked really well. Second, the unit was clean and had a full kitchen so we could prepare our own dinner for two nights. Third, my older son loved using the kayak for fishing and caught a perch in the lake! Also, we appreciated that the staff called us in the morning to ask if we needed limited housekeeping services. With our dog in the unit, they granted our request to remove our full trash bag (which I left outside) and drop off extra towels. The only minuses are that it's a bit pricey and the interior space of the cottage is a bit cramped. But it was fantastic to enjoy a private dock and view of the lake. Overall, we would stay here again in the future - perhaps at a lakeview cottage up the hill!

I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

I googled the directions and Lyndonville was right off the highway. After reading all the reviews this seemed like the best place for the best price. Only $55 with the tax. Plus, it seemed like a family run place and the woman who took my reservation was very nice. Reception is in the house next door to the motel, it seems to be the owner's house. We arrived to find a great little motel - maybe the cleanest one I've ever stayed in. The room kind of looked like a tiny little ski lodge. They had a little binder of tons of stuff to do in the area, wireless internet, tv, mini firdge and a coffeemaker. It was great! Just what I was looking for. Within ten minutes of arriving to the motel we were off to Trout River Brewing for pizza! We left early in the morning so we didn't do anything in the area, but it seems there's lots to do, so I think we might come back. This is a great place to go away for the weekend on a budget! PS. The Yelp listing says this place is closed. But, it isn't. I stayed here in February 2010.

Needless to say I was accommodated in a room right the way , very welcoming and warm atmosphere. The entire place is SPOTLESS clean , They offer free cookies and lemon water at the reception , coffee and tea are also available all day for the guests. The room was spacious and clean with tons of extra towels and a big refrigerator. They indoor pool is available daily from 5am-11pm and the also have a gym and a game room with a pool table and arcade games such as pinball machine and pac man just to name a few . Breakfast is included and it's served from 6-10am with a huge variety of bagels , muffins , cereal , juices , waffle maker , eggs , home fries , yogurt and so on .. there's just so many things to choose from . And the rooms are also sound proof ?! Cause everything was just so quiet , you could sleep all day it you wanted . And last but not least , the view of the mountains are simply BREATHTAKING.. ....

Since I rarely eat breakfast, I didn't go to the breakfast room but the two other people in my family went and said breakfast was just ok, not bad but nothing special. The architecture of the building is different and I mostly liked it. The fact that the story was true and that this famous singing family settled in Stowe, VT because it reminded them of their homeland, well, it's been a long-time dream of mine to visit the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe and feel the connection in person. And so I did... in July 2025, some SIXTY years after seeing the Sound of Music. We actually didn't stay here, which seems kind of odd considering what a fan I am. Now that I know how much there is to do in Stowe... and at the lodge itself, perhaps if we come back with plans to stay longer, I would stay here. The Von Trapp Family Lodge has so much to offer a person... whether one stays here or not. These are some of the activities: 1. Hiking 2. Mountain biking 3. Skiing / Cross-country skiing 4. Horse-drawn carriage rides 5. Sleigh Rides 6. Disc golf 7. Yoga / Massage 8. Bicycle rentals 9. Tennis 10. Swimming 11. Rock Climbing Wall 12. Indoor arts / crafts / culinary classes 13.
