They were okay. We went on a Saturday night, it was busy, the wait was not bad for our large party. We were lucky that we were able to sit around the fountain or in the chairs that were available, as it got busy there were A LOT of people standing. The hibachi chefs are great & know how to put in a show. They kept us engaged & entertained! Wait staff wasn't too bad, the only thing was we were around the hibachi table. A party of 14 so we had two chefs cooking our party's meal, totally understandable. But my chef started maybe 15-20 prior to the other side, maybe due to it being busy but the minute they cooked our last part of the meal they were handing out to go boxes & the bill not even 5 minutes later. The other side hadn't even had a chance to have their finished meals on their plate. Maybe not great for a large parties that want to enjoy it together. We felt very rushed. My mom & I are allergic to shrimp, we are grateful they prepared our meals in the kitchen. Ample servings, they are generous! Hibachi seating area was elbow to elbow, it was a little tight. I'm left handed, my sister in law was to my left & she is right handed. Cleanliness could be better. Fun birthday celebration with the drum as they bring out ice cream. 3.5 if I could give a half star, might give them another chance.

This was so fun! Recommend for a birthday or fun night out. The staff was fun and friendly and the service was excellent. The food was worth the price you're paying!

My 3 year old was thrilled! Our chef did an amazing job of judging when to get him involved and when to let him be shy.

Best hibachi ever. I've never been to a hibachi restaurant that was as full of laughter and charismatic chefs. Every single table was having so much fun and cheering on the other tables. The food was great, of course, but I was so impressed that my chef took special care to include my toddler! He rolled in cranky and starving-- and the staff made sure to get him some plain rice right when we sat down. The chef made him baby bites of steak and paid attention to the food he wanted-- seriously, it was amazing! I'm so glad we came here.

This is unacceptable for a sit down restaurant of this price point.

Food was good, but place is extremely dirty. Grease caked on everywhere, bathrooms smelled awful, and they used disposal bowls for salad and sauce...didn't even explain why or apologize.

The food was good, the atmosphere was okay but not very clean. The service could be a little friendlier but otherwise it was ok

10/10 fun, filling hibachi vibes. Fried rice is very good and the various grilled meats. The chefs are playful and entertaining as well.

If you've been wanting to try this place, I'd definitely recommend arriving early. Parking was probably the most challenging part of the visit. There was a rummage sale happening nearby, so the area was busier than usual. They do have a designated parking lot, but it's very small and fills up quickly. Most people will likely need to rely on street parking, which took a little patience that day. The restaurant itself is tiny, but that's part of the charm. There's a bar area that seats around 10 to 12 people and only a handful of tables. We were a party of three and were seated right away, but I could see larger groups having a harder time finding space together. The tables are also on the smaller side, so once the food starts arriving things can get a little crowded. That said, the food completely lived up to the hype. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, the marinated ribeye was tender and packed with flavor, and my favorite dish of the night was easily the beef yakisoba. We each ordered a starter, three skewers, and a side that our server recommended, and every plate disappeared quickly. The atmosphere felt lively and busy, with Japanese figurines and decorations displayed throughout the restaurant. I overheard another guest mention that it reminded them of places they had visited in Japan, which made me appreciate the attention to detail even more. One thing to note - we were told they don't split bills, which wasn't a problem for our group, but it's something to know ahead of time if you're dining with friends.

First and foremost, the bill cannot be split per an item ordered by an individual. You either split it equally, or it's paid in full. I went to dine with two other individuals, and we all ordered without knowing this which was rather confusing when the check came. Next, while they recommend what you order in select categories, be aware that your food is not going to be coming out in the order with which each the categories sit. We were getting items that were listed in the third category, so what should've been eaten prior to dessert before we got any of the yakitori. The location is downtown so be aware of parking, I recommend coming early, or when they open because it gets full quickly we got there at opening, but there was already a line to get in and eat by the time we were leaving. The restaurant is also relatively small, so leave what you can in the car. We didn't have anywhere to place purses so I ended up sitting with mine behind me. It was also difficult because the plates didn't fit on the table as they brought them out because we weren't eating in the course order. Lastly, remember the name of everything that you get. I ordered mushrooms, shiitake, we got mushrooms dropped to the table, but they weren't the correct ones and that seemed like a bit of an issue. The food was good, I would say the best part was definitely the yakitori, and the main dish items. I could take or leave the appetizers, the tonkatsu wasn't memorable for me, it tasted like the meat wasn't seasoned enough with salt and pepper prior to coating in flour and breadcrumbs. I also think the tonkatsu sauce was a bit bland that sat on top of it and it's something I prefer to have on the side. The highlights my meal were all of the yakitori, I enjoyed the chicken breast, soy ribeye, and shiitake mushrooms. I also liked the beef yakisoba, it's nice that they had the Japanese mayo on the side of it. I think when that's included, it always adds a nice richness. I was also a bit disappointed with the yuzu lemonade since it didn't have dried citrus in it, I'd seen prior. I thought about getting the high ball, but that was because I like the look of it overall so I was happy I didn't. If my friends wanted to go back, I would, but I don't think this is something I'd seek out

It's those little personal touches that make this place so special. I grabbed a solo seat at the sushi counter since the restaurant was pretty packed. The atmosphere was great, everyone was enjoying dinner while watching the World Cup, making for a fun, lively evening. The food was every bit as good as I remembered, and the service remains outstanding. It's easy to see why this place stays busy. A few helpful notes: There's plenty of parking. They close after lunch and reopen for dinner, so check their hours before heading over. To-go orders are also available. We walked into a space centered around sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare each hand roll in front of us, which gave the meal a more personal feel compared to a traditional sushi restaurant. The setup is smaller and more intimate, making the experience feel closer to a sushi bar rather than a casual meal spot. The biggest highlight is the quality of the fish and the hand rolls themselves. The seafood tastes fresh, clean, and carefully prepared, with options like salmon belly, otoro, kanpachi, and crab hand rolls standing out. We ordered a few different rolls and found each one well executed, with the fish having a clean, bright flavor that did not rely on heavy sauces or toppings. Each roll is made individually, so the nori stays crisp and the textures come through better than pre-made sushi. The menu has a good balance of classic choices and more creative combinations, making it easy to try different flavors throughout the meal. The chef interaction adds another layer to the visit. Since everything is prepared right in front of you, we could see the attention put into each piece, from assembling the ingredients to serving it at the right moment. The chefs were precise in their movements and took the time to explain the different fish and flavor profiles, which made the meal feel more like an experience rather than just ordering sushi off a menu. One thing to plan for is the wait. Hatsuyuki does not take reservations, and the popularity means there can be a significant line during busy hours. We arrived earlier and found it helped us avoid a longer wait. Seating is limited, but that also helps maintain the quality and atmosphere of the restaurant. The intimate size of the bar means the service stays focused and the pacing remains personal, even when the restaurant is full. Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is one of the stronger sushi experiences in the area for anyone who enjoys fresh seafood and a more curated dining style. The wait can be a downside, but the quality of the fish, chef preparation, and overall atmosphere make it worth visiting, especially if you are looking for something beyond standard sushi rolls. The focus on craftsmanship and the personal interaction with the chefs elevate the meal into something more memorable than a typical sushi stop.
