About to leave Long Beach (WA) on Christmas Eve, my 2013 VW Beetle, began making a clicking (locking) sound on the passenger door. We thought it was the fob battery. It wasn't. All the way home, if we decreased speed to 10 MPH, click-click. Still drivable but annoying. Doing research, it seemed it might be the door actuator. Not uncommon. But to replace it @ Campbell VW would be $550-600. A friend (w/2 Audis) recommended Edmonds Automotive having had great experiences. So I called Chaz and waited the normal few weeks for an appointment. Once there, he agreed it was likely the actuator and replaced the passenger side. But click-click again. Diving down further, he found it was actually the driver's side! So, he replaced that one, too, and it was finally fixed. But rather than taking the non-offending actuator out, he kept both in...all that for $369 (tax incl). We're so impressed! We'll be taking our other VW Jetta there in the future. I was referred to Edmonds Automotive Service by my brother after the check engine light came on in my jeep wrangler. I called late one evening and left a voicemail with what the issue was. I received a call the next morning telling me that it was a really big issue, and though normally it would take at least up to a week and a half to get an appointment, they would try to fix it that day if I came down! Couldn't believe it! I headed down and got a call that afternoon with it fixed. Best service I've ever had getting my car fixed...and way way cheeper than I thought it was going to be. I realize that I am putting myself at risk by writing this review, simply because Edmonds Automotive Service is so trusted in the Edmonds area a "wait" to get in can often be as long as 3 weeks, but I feel that the poor review given by the person that said, "A long time ago," needs to be counter balanced. My first experience with E.A.S. was 20 years ago. At that time I took in the family van to have it looked over just to be sure that we wouldn't run into any problems on an intended family vacation. I told them to call me if the service bill would be over $250. When I went in to pick up the van I was told that the bill would be $49, that all they had found needing to be taken care of (besides my requested oil change) was a serpentine belt. Think about this! A service garage that isn't trustworthy and honest would have taken my $250 offer and ran with it making up some story just to get the $250, but THEY DIDN'T!!!! I have consistently received the same honest and RELIABLE service from them through out all of these years. They have helped my family keep vehicles running well past the age most drivers would own a car, at a fraction of the cost of owning a new vehicle. I got quotes on some repairs and they were the cheapest too. This place is very popular. They are always booked 3-4 weeks out so plan ahead! I have taken my Toyota 4Runner to Chaz and the guys at Edmonds Automotive for years. Not only are they highly professional and expert mechanics, they are very honest. As an example, some time ago my car needed shocks and instead of just keeping the business themselves, they told me I could probably get a better price at Les Schwab, which I did. Most recently, I didn't realize that my radiator had a leak and I stopped in to have them check out the smell I was noticing. My old 97 Corolla wouldn't start a couple blocks up the street from Edmonds Auto. After walking down and talking to them about my situation, they offered to go back to get my car, check it out and even said they would likely be able to work on it that day-- at the very least figure out the problem. It ended up that my battery needed to be replaced, and they were able to do it right then. From the time I realized I had a problem to the time my car was fixed and ready to go, it was less than two hours. Unfortunately these guys work on both our jeep and work van a lot. They do extremely good work and are always very friendly and helpful and describe things the best they can to the dummys who dont know much about cars. We have our maintenance also done by them and its always very affordable and done in a timely manner. My dog also likes them so thats saying alot, maybe because she always gets a treat when we go in. read more

EAS is close to my house so was in need of a mechanic near by. When I went in they took a look at the car and gave a call telling me of the possibilities and the cost of two different scenarios. Wow, that was a first thankfully it was the lesser of the two and they fixed my car. They are friendly and it seems very honest and upfront as to what it will take and cost to fix your car. This is unusual in these days and times but very much appreciated. They are the nicest people, the explain to you exactly what is going on with your car, what is going to be fix, and how much it will be. You leave their garage knowing more about your car. My dad has been going to this shop for years, and always swore by it. He owns multiple Fords but told me that they would do just as good of a job on my beemer when it started having some problems. They were amazing at keeping us updated on the status of the car, fixed some major problems quickly (less than two days), and gave me a great price. These guys are absolutely the best and the only people I will take my car to. I had an intermittent problem with my Camry where it would "shut off" while driving on the freeway every few months - very scary and dangerous indeed. This problem lasted for years and I took it to several Toyota dealerships and other auto shops, all who would charge me $100 a pop to tell me they couldn't recreate the problem and my car was running fine! I finally brought it into Edmonds Automotive and they continually tested it until they could recreate the problem to find out what was going on - this took several days of me dropping my car off in the morning and picking it up in the evening. They also refused to charge me a cent until they fully figured it out and corrected the problem. AMAZING service! They ended up figuring out that it was a problem with my exhaust system and an easy fix. Seriously the ONLY ones who could figure it out. I also truly appreciate their strait forward approach, they always give you the time of day (as a young woman I've felt "blown off" at other auto shops), they treat you and your problem with respect, patience and understanding, they NEVER try to over sell you on something you don't need - quite the opposite in fact, and they always educate you about your car and how to run it better! I recently had another issue with my car's alignment and they drove around the block WITH me to see how it felt and talk to me about it while it was happening. They fixed it, but when it started to pull again a month later, they fixed it again - at no additional cost. A long time ago these guys rebuilt my engine.They did a terrible job as the engine made loud whineing noises.They actually tried to fix the engine a second time but it did not work.I got stuck with the original charge and a bad engine.Also they have a bad practice of fixing your car first then calling you with the price,giving you no chance to choose to have the repair made.These guys are stuck up Know it alls who dont know it all. read more

My mom took her car in for a diagnosis. The mechanic told her the oxygen sensor was bad and needed to be replaced because the wires on it were spliced with electrical tape. The car just had a new o2 sensor installed and working correctly as no code was read/the engine light went off/wires checked etc. The mechanic also told her and I two separate stories about why the ignition switch needed to be replaced. We never had any problem with the switch. The car recently had its oil changed but yet they charged her 4 quarts. 500+ bucks later and car's major car problems weren't even fixed or at least addressed and engine light is still on. Look elsewhere for an honest shop. read more

Between they bucks flying out of my account and not fully understanding what mechanics try to tell me (let's be honest, I'm not the only one) it just makes me uncomfortable! The guys here were more than accomodating with schedule and timing, extremely welcoming and friendly, and did their best to keep it simple. I wanted to find a place to be my go-to shop whenever I have a problem and they were just what I wanted and maybe more. I called them for a price quote and the work was completed under quote. They explained details about the repair well and I felt comfortable with them. They let me know that it might be more than a day to complete the job. I dropped off my car for repair one morning before work, the mechanic called me in the evening to update me on the progress and made sure that I wasn't stuck at work without transportation. What a great place! Professionalism in all aspects and fair price. The problem with my Hyundai was a low grinding noise at idle. Jerry insisted on listening very carefully--using his screwdriver almost as if he was using a stethoscope--until we were agreed on what I was hearing. Early in the day he communicated completely my choices for repair. I picked the car up late that same afternoon. He showed me the defective parts as he described what had been going wrong in detail. He told me what to expect for the life of the repaired parts, and that if the belts he replaced should loosen and squeal within the first couple of weeks, to bring the car in for a quick, free tighten-up. The problem had been dealt with completely. Now, my car again idles whisper-quiet. About 6 years ago we brought our truck into KC Martin in Lynnwood they called us to say that there was a crack under our car that needed to be fixed right away the cost was something crazy like $3,500. We just did not feel confidant with the diagnosis so we took it to Edmonds Automotive for a second opinion. They took a look at his car and confirmed the crack was there but it would not be worth fixing (being an older vehicle) and that we should just consider that some day (years from now) that would be the death of the car. So 6 years later we are still driving the car with no issues. By far the most honest mechanic shop around. So, if you wonder why they are so busy and hard to get into, its because they are worth the wait. read more

Went there with an older, made in usa, chevy. Problem was the car didn't have a computer port to tell the mechanic what to do. The car had been running great until it just stopped. Had it towed to EAS where it remained for over a month. Charged over $600 after it was "fixed", drove it less than a mile and ended up getting it towed back to EAS where it sat for another two weeks. Finally drove it, with an escort, to a friends shop 6 miles away. Diagnosis: Wrong cap and rotor put in by EAS and faulty coil (original problem). Don't bother with this shop unless you' re satisfied with non-performers. read more
