I've been checking this place out for a while now but hadn't thought to venture in until today. For as cute as it looks outside, I could not get over how cute it was once inside! They have a variety of classic brunch options but each with something unique to a typical dish. I got the French toast which sounds like it could almost be overwhelmingly sweet but it wasn't! It was the perfect dish! It had a definite marshmallow taste but not in an overt way and the chocolate was drizzled over and just the right amount. I enjoyed this place. Loved that there is indoor/outdoor seating. Outdoor has a date night vibe. On a Friday night it was great for after work. It was guy playing the saxophone, the music was cool. The bartender was a magician. He put on a show making drinks, I loved it. They give you pita bread with some sort of dip, it was ok, the plantains with the avocado crème was delicious. I saved the crème for my fries. The fried shrimp was fried to perfection and a good portion. The chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. The drinks were great. I loved the idea of ordering on an app. I didn't have to wait for staff to come by to add or to change items. The food came out pretty quickly. We met the owner, he was pleasantly and friendly. Probably still working the kinks out since opening but here are a few suggestions from a local PLG denizen who really wants you to succeed! First, you gotta fix that burger! How about a nice 8 Oz burger with some more cheese and topping options?! You'll have PLG lined up around the block! Maybe a veggie burger and some big dinner sized salads. Might want to rethink serving those cheap cuts like pork shoulder and Denver roast as steaks. Too sinewy! Need low, slow cooking. How about a real pork chop and a a real steak? Or a slow roasted pork shoulder or pot roast braised in red wine? Also, prices are a bit out of whack. 11 clams for the crudités is fine if it's a nice big plate but yours is like what you'd get on the side of Buffalo wings. $14 for a good but stripped down 6Oz burger? Here's an idea- start hosting events for local PLGers to test various menu items? For now, until you cooking crew is up to it, cut the menu in half and concentrate on a few simple, well executed dishes. And please ditch the community tables! I dined here with my friend Halloween night. The food was good, i enjoyed a chicken burger sandwich and my friend had the lini spaghetti dish. The food here is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. We also had the spicy margarita drink, also delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there was a guy who took out order came across little rude, he wore sunshades (at 800pm) and seemed just so disinterested in being there. Also they brought out my friends dish a full 30 mins before my food came out. Dumb ... Lastly, i know this is beyond their control but eating outside in the cold doesn't make for a fabulous experience. They have small heaters and tents, but they can safely social distance inside the establishment. All in all I would recommend this place. read more

What a disappointment. I live in the neighborhood and have walked by so many times. Tonight, my partner and I decided to walk in. Other than the drink, which was excellent, the food and the service were terrible. It took an hour to get our salad. Once we got it (after we asked), it arrived at the same time as our entrees. The salads were wilted and barely dressed, had different ingredients than what our server had said would be in them and the lettuce had dirty stems. My mussels rested on top of about a 1/4 cup of lukewarm, flavorless broth and my partner's steak and potatoes arrived cold. Ice cold. When they say kid friendly, THEY MEAN IT! OMG, I love kids, but this new-age parenting is for the birds. We went this past Saturday around 6pm, and we encountered a haven for brats and parents who allow their children to disturb the whole damn place. One set of parents just couldn't catch on that it was their daughters absolute intent to lodge her helium-filled balloon in the restaurant's ceiling fans. Idiots! Our bartender, Kitt, was sufficiently nice, but I could hardly hear her from all the shrieking in the background. Folks, control your kids! We had just finished having a fabulous brunch a few hours prior over at Mo's Original on Lincoln & Rogers, and the after brunch stroll of Flatbush left us in the mood to nibble on something additional. The week prior, the owner of a local flower shop recommended this place, so we said, Why not? I ordered a Utica Club and a the scallop/peach ceviche (The florist raved about this), and my friend ordered a Mezcal Margarita and the hot dog. The beer was not for me, but for $4, what could I expect. I did learn that it was the first beer served after prohibition. My hubby knows that my last meal on earth should be some variation of ceviche. If he were to serve me this one, I'd just pass and go ahead and die with an empty stomach. It was just missing a lot. The peaches were good, but the scallops added nothing to the dish. I think I tasted a hint of mint, but it could have used some red onion, jalapeno, cilantro...maybe parsley...maybe more citrus? My friend enjoyed is margarita, but that hot dog was terrible. Sorry, but it appeared almost waterlogged. A little sear would have, perhaps, complimented the delicious mustard they use. Now, the brioche bun is just to damn much. I love brioche, but as you know, it's a bread that dries out very quickly; that big ass dry bun was hard to get down. Anyhoo, the food wasn't horrible enough to leave it on the plate, so we wolfed it down, and ordered a second round; I switched to the Bronx Ale, and it was good. Service: As mentioned before, Kitt was nice and charming. In observing the remainder of the staff, I have to admit that they were on the ball. Really, I found them to almost a bit too overzealous with service. I'm assuming the couple (man with somewhat long hair, and woman with tattoos) were the owners. They stood at command, and always had this look of concern that seemed as if they were waiting for a tragedy to strike. Hell, I felt nervous at times looking at them. Lighten up, and let the hospitality seem organic and seamless...take notes from Kitt! I will return, but it will definitely be when the rugrats are asleep. The bar really is hella comfortable, so go park yourself there and judge for yourself. read more

I would like to start this by saying u have never had to write a review before, I unfortunately had to download this app in order to express my extreme disappointment. Me and my girlfriend went here for lunch and we have been feeling sick since. I ordered the honey hot fried chicken sandwich. To my surprise not only was the chicken barely even seasoned, the amount of coleslaw on the sandwich was pathetic. there was hardly any, covered about 1/4 of the sandwich. my girlfriend ordered the french toast. she said it was so disgusting that she barely was able to eat any of it. the toast itself tasted like it was made with rotten eggs and the berries had a chemical taste to them. even the side of bacon was hardly edible. the service itself was fine? considering they had to take my credit card before i even ordered and then we had to order ourselves off the website something i have never experienced before. after i payed online because that's what i was instructed to do, it too any other 15 minutes to get my credit card back from the bar. After spending $50 for a lunch for two we expected a lot more, well at least some some edible food would be nice. Overall will never go here again, I suggest others save their money and stay far away. read more

They finally got some wings that were pretty good, I no longer see that on the menu probably due to COVID. Their fries are good. I had a salad recently and it was so acidic, it was awful. I've eaten in Edie Jo's 2 times. I was hoping this would be a good restaurant, as I live close by, but the food we've had is disappointing. First, the food is way too salty. This has been noted in a number of reviews. The owners have obviously received this feedback, but the heavy handed salt continues. The burger is tiny. It has an OK flavor, but is lost in the bread. On my second visit, I ordered the pork. It had a funny smell. I took one bite and had to return it. The side order of kale was so salty it was like a mouth full of salt water. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. Not a good dining experience. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable, which makes it a good place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and pastry. The staff are friendly and helpful. I hope the owners can work out the dinner menu. read more

The place has good energy and delicious well priced fare. It gets a fair amount of families but doesn't feel like a family restaurant overrun with children. While I enjoy getting lattes and cocktails here, the staff has treated me very rudely on several occasions. There have been three separate occasions, with three separate people, and as someone who worked in the service industry for 13 years, I know the difference between someone being extremely busy and just plain rude. One of the instances, I came in with a friend to get cocktails. He informed us that we'd have to order food because of a new law. I was about to ask to see the menu, so I could choose some food, and before I could, he told us he didn't know what other bars were doing and that we could go somewhere else. I was looking forward to a paloma, on of their signature cocktails, but instead I was treated like they didn't want my business. My friend and I kind of just looked at each other dumbfounded for a second, and then walked out. The most recent instance, I walked in and the music was so loud that it sounded like a club. I have a neurological condition that makes speaking very difficult most of the time, and i especially can't speak above very loud music. That's totally fine, as I don't expect the world to bend to accommodate me, plus I love music. It was only an issue because when I ordered a latte and was asked "for here or to go", I couldn't speak as loudly or as quickly as the staff member expected me to, so before i could ask for clarification on what the difference was, she asked me again, now clearly agitated "for here or to go??!" with a great deal of annoyance in her voice. I also hesitated because i was going to ask for clarification, as if ordered the exact same latte every day for a while, and had never been given an option of to stay or go. Her impatience and agitation was so jarring, that once again I found myself almost at a loss for words momentarily, while I tried to process why i was being spoken to in such a manner, while also attempting to push my voice loud enough to be heard over the booming music and ask a question. To be fair, the rest of the staff has been fine, but the poor treatment from other staff has left a bad taste in my mouth. I've tended bar at places that were packed to the brim, and waited tables while in the "weeds" more times than I can ever remember, but my customer service never suffered; it's just something that comes with the territory and that you have to learn to master if you work in that industry. There are so many other great restaurants and bars in this neighborhood where the staff is beyond kind and welcoming, so while I love the unique outdoor setup of this place, I'll instead be frequenting somewhere that treats me with respect. read more
