Edible Couture is a boutique bakery that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in August 2020. It was founded by Letitia "Tisha" Hudson. Growing up, Hudson often baked alongside her grandmother. She shared her grandmother's love of cooking and baking and soon developed a passion for unique flavors and thinking outside the box. As an adult, she began baking custom cakes and other tasty treats at her home in Stratford. In 2012, after sharing some creations with friends, Hudson came up with the brand name "Edible Couture". She made custom desserts for private parties and other various functions. Her cupcakes in particular became very popular, especially the banana cream and strawberry cupcakes. By summer 2017, Hudson was selling her cupcakes out of a vending tricycle at public stops. By the following year, she obtained a food truck to sell her delicious treats. In August 2020, Hudson finally opened her first brick & mortar location at 129 Court Street in New Haven. It was a combined storefront partnered with Poreyah Benton of 'Vegan Ahava' (which also had a food truck). In April 2023, after continued success, Hudson relocated the bakery to a larger space at 1402 Barnum Avenue in Stratford. My family and I recently visited Edible Couture after getting a recommendation from a friend of ours. The interior was very festive and decorated with a lot of pink flowers, furniture, etc. Hudson's display cases were filled with all sorts of cupcakes, cake cups, cookies and gourmet cakes. After looking over the selection, we decided to get a big slice of "Strawberry Short Cheesecake". The strawberries tasted so fresh, the cream was so light and fluffy, and the cheesecake can the perfect consistency. We were impressed and we look forward to returning and trying out some cupcakes.

Edible Couture is a boutique bakery that specializes in small desserts with bold flavors. Edible Couture was located in New Haven but relocated to Stratford, Connecticut. Edible Couture uses fashionable decor in a vibrant and fun setting. There signature dessert is the cake cups so I ordered the Red Velvet Oreo Cake Cup and I also ordered a Banana Pudding Cupcake, Reese's Peanut Butter Cupcake and Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake. The Red Velvet Oreo Cake Cup was delicious. The cake was moist and layering was just right to get every bite. The cupcakes were moist but the cream on the top was heavy for me but all in all a great cupcake. The customer service was great. I believe his name was Jayden. He gave exceptional customer service and gave me a rundown of all items. Edible Couture provides a great experience while ordering your desserts and a great atmosphere.

BEAUTIFUL DECOR! The pastry range is huge there are so many different goodies to choose from, savory and sweet! Also very personable customer service behind the register! I appreciate the kindness and guidance shown from one particular worker Sanaa who helped me choose the right cupcakes-- and I was not disappointed! Will be returning for a savory pastry soon!

I came across Edible Couture through their truck, from there I would visit them when they were near downtown New Haven. I found myself in Stratford the other day, and remembering that they were there, I decided to stop in to satisfy the sweet tooth. I ordered a red velvet cupcake with Oreo topping & a strawberry shortcake cup. Both were delicious. Although I love sweets, I eat them sparingly, so I was able to get two servings out of the cupcake as well as two servings out of the strawberry shortcake cup. They make custom birthday cakes and they have a large assortment of baked goods. I also ordered an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, which I think was my favorite. It was incredibly soft and decadent, and I was also able to split it into two servings. I highly recommend checking them out if you need to satisfy the sweet tooth or if you're looking for a cake for a special occasion.

Delicious Funfetti cupcakes & a huge chocolate chip cookie for the Birthday Girl!

The service was great, the strawberry cupcake was amazing, and the aromas were captivating. I will definitely be ordering from here again!

The menu and everything in the display cases looked so appetizing, we had such a difficult time choosing what to order! We started with BEC sandwiches - they were made really well on delicious toasted rolls - my only complaint was the Kraft American cheese singles. Please upgrade the cheese and it will make the world of a difference to the meal!! I also had a hot tea with some pastries we got: Oreo cheesecake and an ombligo with a custard filling - absolutely delicious and perfectly sweetened. The inside decor was very nice and offered comfy soft seating to dine in with. I will definitely make a drive up soon from Norwalk to enjoy some more!

We tried the beef and the spinach/mushroom empanadas, a chocolate filled pastry and the alfajores. The empanadas were the proper baked Argentinian version. I thought the beef was very tasty but it lacked the chopped olive I associate with the Argentinian style. La Portena had no complaints about her spinach/mushroom version. The alfajores came in three sizes, something I did not realize when ordering. I would not repeat my order of the large size, the ratio of cookie to filling being off. The medium looked about right. The best item was a chocolate filled pastry, similar to a croissant that I had the next day. Flaky and light, it revealed some skill in the baking.

I thought we were about to crash, but nope, just an emergency ice cream situation. Glad we pulled over because this place is the real deal. The ice cream is rich, flavorful, and seriously satisfying. You can taste the quality, and the scoop-to-dollar ratio is right on the money. The place has some cool history behind it too, which adds to the charm. We grabbed our cones and sat outside on a little bench, enjoying what felt like a scoop of heaven on a sunny day. If you're in the area, do yourself a flavor and make the stop, especially if you've got an ice cream queen in the car.

My fiance asked the nice girl working there for her recommendation, and she did not hesitate to tell us her favorite - Graham Slam. Fantastic flavor, and the ice cream is creamy and delicious. I chose to do the recommended flavor, plus a scoop of Eskimo Kisses. Both flavors were awesome, but the Graham Slam was definitely better. There are lots of topping options, as well. There is some cute seating inside, as well as bench outside the shop. We chose to eat outside on the bench while enjoying a beautiful summer evening. It's a small shop, so small you might miss it, but it's definitely worth a trip there.

If customer service has truly gone off a cliff, this visit was the proof. I walked in for a simple cup of frozen yogurt, something I've done countless times. The young woman behind the counter didn't ask if I wanted a lid (as I'm always asked), and instead overfilled the cup. When I politely said I wanted a lid, she scraped off the top like it was garbage. That may seem small to some, but presentation matters. I'm not an animal, and I don't expect to be served like one. When I pointed out that this wasn't how it should be done, she snapped back with, "Well how do you think I'm going to close it?"--then followed up with, "If you don't like it, come back here and make it yourself." Excuse me? That's not just rude, it's hostile. I asked the other employee to make a new one, and the same young woman kept up the nasty attitude, saying "I don't care, it's not mine either." The second employee did apologize, and I appreciated that. But when I said I'd be calling the owner, I was told he's on vacation. Is that why the staff feels free to treat customers with such disrespect? Zack's used to be a place where service matched the sweetness of the yogurt. Now, it feels like the values that built this business have melted away. I sincerely hope the owner reads this and takes action--because this kind of behavior is unacceptable, and longtime customers like me deserve better.
