I also appreciated the fact that Kyra did not try to upsell us. We asked her how much cake we needed for the # of guests we have. Both she and the baker said that the order we entered would be a LOT of cake and would result in massive leftovers. We would not have space in our fridge for that much leftover cake. I appreciated the fact that Kyra was honest and gave us a good recommendation as opposed to trying to sell us more than what we needed. That type of professional honesty results in repeat customers. And 5 stars on Yelp! Both of the cakes we were delicious.

Absolutely unacceptable experience on Monday, September 7, Labor Day. To be clear, I did not interact with the owner; my experience was with a dark-haired female employee behind the counter. Despite spending over $100, I was treated with a shockingly nasty, hostile, rude, and unprofessional attitude. When I complained about her behavior, she actually told me not to return. Even more concerning was what I personally observed around the food: her fingernails appeared dirty, she was not wearing gloves, and her hair appeared loose and insufficiently restrained around the food/service area. Combined with her treatment of customers, this left me seriously questioning the standards being maintained here. I will be submitting a complaint regarding what I observed to the appropriate Connecticut/local health authorities for their review. A bakery should provide courteous service and inspire confidence in how its food is handled. This experience did neither. Ownership needs to address both issues. I will not return or recommend this location and strongly urge others to think twice before spending their money here.

I asked for two other cakes that were there (smaller) to make up the size of what I ordered. Was told "There is a price difference that you owe." I said, "You messed up my order, I think you need to eat the cost." She checked with the manager who agreed with me. In the end we got the only two cakes there so it worked out. But, NOT happy that after repeated confirmations they got the date wrong, nor that they asked me to pay the difference.

Today's order consisted of a Large Hot Cinnamon Mocha and the two donuts you see in the photo attached. Honestly, nothing was bad about my order. The coffee I got was definitely better than that latte I had Ubered from New Canaan last week. As for the donuts, they were good, but they weren't amazing. I do appreciate that my French Cruller had a chocolate frosting on top, but as you can see from the missing icing some of it stuck to the bag. That's why if someone were to bag my donuts I'd prefer a chocolate glaze over any kind of frosting. I like getting the complete item. Speaking of the chocolate glaze, I liked the donut. Again, not a groundbreaking donut by any means, but I would get it again. The price is good too. Ever since the station cafe started doing a $10 card minimum, I stopped going to it because I can't justify paying $10 for a coffee when I need to use cash for other things. Here, I only needed to pay $7.25 for the entire order, and it honestly made more sense for me to order enough to that amount here. The coffee is cheaper too even if you take the $10 minimum argument out entirely. Where coffee was $3.76 at the station, this one was $3.21 before tax. Yeah, if and when the Waterbury branch has difficulties staying on time, I won't mind coming here again to try more things.
