We enjoyed the clubhouse with the many rooms and kitchen, which can accommodate multiple groups of guests. Far enough from technology to focus on being with ourselves. There's a reason it's called Painted Sky Inn! Each room has a little box in the fridge of S'mores stuff for a small extra fee and there's supposedly a fire every night, was both nights we stayed there and we used it to make S'mores. There as filtered water in the fridge and Denise did tell us we could have more if needed. Not a lot of food close by so we brought our own food for the weekend. We used the stovetop and all the plates and pans to make meals. Saturday we rented some kayaks and kayaked to the small island in the middle of the lake and did some swimming. Came back and spent some time in the hammocks, did some reading, and even swam a little right off the back of our room. We don't fish much ourselves but definitely an inn made for fishing and saw quite a few people doing so. Sunday we checked out and made it out to Inks Lake State Park for a little hike and swim, it's a short drive from the inn! All in all was a good weekend getaway and we plan on going back.

There's a lounge area, that might have been a swim area but the lake was extremely low when we visited, so I'm not sure. There a patio with a grill, fish fry and smoker for guest to use and some hammocks. I think they used to rent kayaks and stuff but the owner said they were damaged in a recent storm, and there is a boat ramp. The rooms are spacious, with a kitchenette, and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great in the unit. The shower is small and had no hot water, which was barely tolerable was we did not visit when it was hot outside. Also lake gnats. They are everywhere and while completely harmless, they do get in your room even when you are careful. In the back is a long, open patio area with chairs and grills that can be used. This is a shared space with your neighbors. It's definitely a place to go and relax for a few days. It would be good for fishing, lake activities and reading. The owner was very nice and communicative. Although I saw in another review that this place was pet friendly, and that is NOT true. There are sign's everywhere that say no pets and there's extra fees if they stay with you.

For the hotel/restaurant, we stayed in K1 which has direct views of the water. These are not fancy rooms (no tvs or fancy furniture) but it was so relaxing and beautiful. The restaurant is good with a full bar and beautiful lake views.

They made us feel very welcome and right at home with many above-and-beyond moments like bringing us an extra pickleball racket to the court when they noticed another family member show up to play. The food and drinks were great. The games and pool table were super fun. We enjoyed the live weekend music from our patio while we cooked hotdogs and s'mores over the fire. Andrea was stellar with quick communication! Housekeeping gets 5 stars because it was really impressively clean. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds are well kept and we enjoyed hiking around and seeing the beautiful wildflowers. I can't say enough good things about this place. It is unique and combines all the beauty of nature with all the comforts of home and lots of attention to detail in decor and service. That made me think that they never changed the sheets when last person left the room (disgusting). I slept on the other bed. They the tub was also dirty. Had brown dirt spots inside and the soap that was used was left on the seam of the plastic walls of the tub. Again, made me think, they never cleaned the shower. The phone in the room didn't work and had to use personal phone to call. The poor was dirty as hell so I couldn't even use that. For the amount that they charge, you better off finding another place that actually clean after each person checks out. The breakfast is a joke but gives you something to eat until you get real food. Won't stay there again.
