It was love at first sight. And when I I say first sight, I mean from the Austin Monthly Magazine. There was an article I read before I was recycling my magazine. I pulled out the travel section and booked my room. The hotel was SUPER clean, completely renovated and ultra sexy. It was a mix of industrial meets farmhouse. Every detail was planned to the T. From the high quality bedding the the rugs. The bathrooms were something you'd want in your dream home. Heck, I wanted everything in my home. If i could some up in one word, it would be perfect. Yup, it was perfect and dreamy and insta worthy. I went insta crazy. San Saba is a great little town to visit for a weekend getaway. This place is a must stay. Before we checked out, we saw the cleaning crew ironing the sheets. Ironing the sheets y'all. I mean, that just tells you how much attention to detail they are. My guess is the owner is OCD and I'm okay with that. I really can't wait to come back. Thanks for the delicious pecans too. My stay was perfect, your hotel is perfect!!!

This boutique hotel is very cute! They have done a great job with the decor & all of the furnishings. We stayed in room #6 which is what they call the "suite". It's a little larger room at the end of the hallway so it has 2 walls of windows overlooking San Saba. I highly recommend spending the few extra dollars for this room. For the most part our experience was good but there were a few issues. The major one was lack of communication. There is no front office so you have to call what I assume is the owners phone. We called the morning of our arrival on 2 occasions to ask a question and nobody answered. Then during our stay, water from all of the rain began to come in through the window and pour onto the hardwood floors. We wanted to notify the hotel so we called the number and got no answer. I sent an Instagram message and got no answer. We texted and got not answer. I'm not sure how many calls it took to get a hold of someone but it was just frustrating that it took so much effort on our part to reach someone. They really need to work on answering their customers calls. Then come to find out, my parents are interested in staying here this summer. They had a question so they sent an email to the hotel & they have yet to receive a reply! Very poor communication. The other minor issue is the wifi was spotty. For the majority of the trip, I could never get on the wifi. Just a heads up - expect poor service. My tip for wine drinkers - There's a wonderful winery next door but make sure if you buy a bottle to drink to have them open it for you. There are no bottle openers at the hotel. Hopefully they add one to their coffee bar area soon because with a winery next door it only makes sense.

Much as I would like to give this hotel 5 stars unfortunately I just can't. It's unfortunate because this hotel is in an historic building that has been remodeled in the most amazing way. It is gorgeous! The shower is a walk-in and it is huge. The bathroom has a wooden barn door. The hotel has beautiful wood floors throughout. The lighting accents add all the charm needed but they didn't stop there, they added beautiful artwork. The room is well appointed and has a nice tv with dish network and free wifi. The bed is very comfortable with nice linens. There is a common area at the end of the hallway where there is a coffee maker and an ice and water machine. With all of these amazing things why would this hotel not be rated a 5? Noise It is located on a main road through town. All night (and morning) you can hear every truck and 18 wheeler or hot rod or motorcycle with loud pipes that comes by. Which means you can't sleep. I had earbuds and used a cell phone app with nature sounds and could still hear trucks. If you have any type of sleeping issues at all this may be an issue for you. The second issue we had with sound were the housekeepers. About 8:30am they congregated in the common area I mentioned and were talking loudly. So loud that we heard them in our room. We were in the room at the other end of the hall. At first I thought it may be other guests but my husband went to look and it was employees in hotel shirts. Their loud talking equal no sleep. Additionally, the continued loud talking interrupted the peace of the morning which made it difficult for us to enjoy our beautiful room and our day away. It was irritating. We had planned to eat breakfast at the restaurant that is associated with the hotel that is located downstairs. On our way down we saw two ladies walking out the door and we casually asked how the breakfast was and they said to go somewhere else. It was so bad they said they had left their food on the table and were going to eat their left over lunch from the day before. They then began to complain about the loud talking they had to endure from the employees that morning. The bottom line is if you want to sleep you would probably want to skip this hotel. I have stayed at $45.00 roadside Route 66 hotels and slept like a log compared to here. Since the main reason for staying in a hotel (well, usually, lol) is to sleep, these noise issues totally defeat the purpose. This is such a shame for such a great property. But if you just want to stay in a gorgeous and beautifully decorated remodeled old building this is the place for you.

This place is great. Clean but stills has rust-stick Texas style. Only six rooms but what a nice thought out design and feel. A splash of old with the new. Definitely would recommend this to everyone

Beutifully remodeled bank / office building into a industrial style boutique hotel. The Oliver Co. Cafe is accessible through the hotel lobby. We had a nice cup of latte before starting our day.

There was no one to check out with and I have been told that we were supposed to email that he checked out early. The manager Angie said that she was sorry but the owner refused to consider a refund and would not talk to me. Very poor customer service!

Everyone seemingly loves this place. For me it was just okay. Think, Quality Inn or Comfort Suites…read moreand you've about got the picture as far as quality and amenities. It's interesting that the lodging is in two buildings and the buildings have been renovated as lodges. What's really happened is that an inner set of walls and rooms have been added to make guest rooms inside a large cavernous old building so the "shell" of the building is cold and almost just a walkthrough. The flooring is new laminate, linens and furnishings are like what you would find at an elderly relative's house. Making a reservation was easy. We called and paid by phone. The key was left in our room and we were given a code to get into the building. It would have been helpful if the building had had an address on it or a #1 and #2 since there are two lodges. We drove around twice in the dark and rain trying to verify we had the right building. Honestly, I probably would have given this place four stars if it hadn't been for the beds. Both were as hard as a rock. I couldn't sleep through the night because of it and woke up with a back and neck ache. They both made the most god awful squeaking/crunching sound with every move you made so any time my husband or I moved, we woke the other. Again, it's not luxury accommodations so if that doesn't bother you, you're good. There is free WiFi and a very tiny TV with cable. It was $100 plus tax for two queen beds. I'm sure that's the going rate in town as the most basic things here seem to be pricey. I saw a small kitchenette in a cutout of the hall which is nice since the rooms do not have fridges or microwaves. Again, many seem to love it here and find it charming. For me, it misses the mark with comfort.

When she arrived they charged her $10 extra and basically told her the price she was quoted was not the price of the room. An hour later I came to check in and my rate was as quoted. When I asked the man at the counter why I was given the price quoted and my friend was not he said that prices change and rambled on forever about "how motels work". He made a comment that if I wanted to complain about my friend he would charge me the increased amount too. He then told me that if someone were to come in and be willing to pay more money for my room he would give it to them. As we entered the room is was HOT! I chose to hang out outside as it was cooler out there than it was in the room. Now for the really gross part....the room is beyond disgusting! Stains and stuff on the walls, floor, bathroom, sheets, cigarette burns in the sheets, holes all over the walls. This place is a mess and the staff is aggressive and rude. If you are looking for a place to stay in San Saba, pass this one up! You have been warned!!

There's a lounge area, that might have been a swim area but the lake was extremely low when we visited, so I'm not sure. There a patio with a grill, fish fry and smoker for guest to use and some hammocks. I think they used to rent kayaks and stuff but the owner said they were damaged in a recent storm, and there is a boat ramp. The rooms are spacious, with a kitchenette, and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great in the unit. The shower is small and had no hot water, which was barely tolerable was we did not visit when it was hot outside. Also lake gnats. They are everywhere and while completely harmless, they do get in your room even when you are careful. In the back is a long, open patio area with chairs and grills that can be used. This is a shared space with your neighbors. It's definitely a place to go and relax for a few days. It would be good for fishing, lake activities and reading. The owner was very nice and communicative. Although I saw in another review that this place was pet friendly, and that is NOT true. First, it's gated, so only guests staying at the inn are there. All the regular rooms are in one long building. That means everyone has the same back patio, which I didn't like. Whether your just relaxing, or cooking on the included grill, it puts your neighbors too close to you. But what a view of the sunset! The swimming area is a little small if a lot of people are there, but just great when it's not crowded. The rooms are very basic, but have everything you need. Beds were soft and the A/C worked like a champ. I booked Saturday and Sunday nights, so the second day we were the only ones there. Peace and quiet! We swam. We fished. Well, actually we just fed the fish, cause we sure didn't catch any. There was an automatic fish feeder on the dock. When it went off in the dark, it scared the s**t out of Glenda. I laughed so hard! At night, they fired up the fire pit, which was really nice. There is a container in the frig which had stuff to make s'mores If you want to. We just kicked back and relaxed. After 34 years with me, you need a little relaxation! We took walks around the neighborhood. There were deer everywhere! And some friendly. This is a very nice place if your looking for a weekend retreat. I thought it was a little pricy, but everywhere has gone in that direction. Pay up buddy! By the way, it's right across the cove from the Vanishing Texas River Cruise, which we definitely enjoyed.
