You will NOT regret your decision to stay with Aunt M! Kick back and leave the buzz of your daily life behind. The entire house is painted with scenes by Aunt M herself, wonderful artistry. And oh my gosh, the beds are so comfortable. It was so nice to be in such a well taken care of historical era home. Her homemade breakfast was amazing (please don't skip on the breakfast, you will not be let down) and the dining room was spectacular. This is a great place to forget about life for a while. This is a wonderful place for a quiet getaway! Her house is one of a kind. She painted beautiful murals on the walls and every room is fully equipped with everything you could need. The charming hostesses ensured our visit was enjoyable from the moment we walked in the door with their friendly and personalized tour of the house to the most amazing breakfast spread any dignitary would be impressed with! My wife and I spent our 35th wedding anniversary here. We had a restful night's rest to wake up to a full hot breakfast that included bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs, juice, milk, coffee, tea, and a breakfast casserole. This breakfast casserole consisted of biscuits, sausage with gravy, eggs, all topped with shredded cheese. If you do not get enough to eat here you definitely not trying too hard. We ate until we were stuffed. Between the great artwork throughout and the friendly owner that makes you feel at home, this is an ideal place to stay. If fact we love staying here so much, we have stayed in every suite. It is very interesting how each suite has its own theme. If you are looking for an unique friendly place to stay, my wife and I would highly recommend this inn. read more

Aunt M's came recommended highly from a dear friend of ours. So, when I was looking for a venue to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, I reserved the Vineyard Suite for a four night's stay. I knew the room had spectacular illustrations on almost all the walls of the suite by Mae herself, but we were still utterly amazed at the beautiful wonderous ambiance the suite offered. To say that it took our breath away would not be an exaggeration at all. Further, the owner had graciously prepared a birthday cake and had it ready with a chilled bottle of wine in our suite for our arrival. This was all a surprise for Michelle, and the smile on her face said it all. We opted for the breakfasts which was offered at extra price. I am a vegetarian and Michelle also has some dietary restrictions. We were pleasantly surprised for the length Mae went to prepare delicious breakfasts tailored for us. This included Scrambled eggs, stuffed mushroom, Migas style eggs, bacon, crisp potatoes, French toast, bread toast, fruit, coffee and more. We had not heard of San Saba, but it turned out to be a hidden treasure just a short drive away from Austin. The attractions include wineries, pecan coffee and deserts, quaint shops, and vast Texas hill-country landscape. We visited Fiesta winery and loved it. Among the restaurants just walking distance from the Inn, Napoli's was our favorite. We highly recommend Aunt M's and San Saba. We had a 5-star experience, and plan to visit again during the grape harvest season! read more

Breakfast filled me up all day because there was too much.The rooms were nice but I over slept because it was too quiet and the bed was comfortable.if I had not smelled the food I wouldn`t. ever got up for work,The room was clean but I think they are trying too hard to keep out bedbugs , I found powder under the bed and a sign about preventing em,Do they really need that?It is close to downtown and there is off street parking At least I could go straight to my room and not talk to anyone.I didn`t have to go through a living room or nothing,There was a little too much art for me but some people like that stuff, read more

Great B&B in San Saba! I came here for work and there were not a lot of options for lodging. I quickly discovered this spacious B&B on Yelp. The reservation was easily made over the phone, quick confirmation and detailed info about arrival and check in provided instantly via email. When I arrived (way after hours due to my late flight) the Hostess/Owner Mae Claire, was still awake and waiting for my arrival. She helped me carry my bags up to my spacious room and showed me all of the amenities. The room had a fridge and a microwave, clean chest of drawers for unpacking my luggage. She made me feel right at home. There was a comfy leather recliner in my room, and additional vintage furnishings as well, private bath, and an enormous flat screen loaded with direct TV. Cookies, fresh fruit, an electric pot to make boiling water for the coffee, hot cocoa and oatmeal were all thoughtfully left in my room. I escaped too early in the morning to enjoy the proper breakfast that was available. (The locals raved about it and pitied me for missing out on Mae's cooking) Steps away from my door there was an enclosed front porch balcony, and an ice maker for convenience. Beautiful art "Illustrated" the inn everywhere I looked. No detail had been overlooked. I loved it. It felt like visiting my favorite Aunt at Christmas time (complete with a little tree in my room!). Very homey and inviting. The linens were so soft that they made me smile every time my head hit the pillow. Soft and luxurious. Well done B&B! read more

This place is a dream! I appreciated the art work most as it was hand painted by Mae herself. I felt like we were just staying with a distant family member or something, that's how comfortable I was during my stay. The breakfast was so amazing. That French toast though! The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in! I literally had the best sleep I have had in a long while. I will absolutely be back when I am in town! read more

I was checking out of my room when I lost my car keys. I looked everywhere with no luck. I checked under the bed, to my surprise and disgust I found a used condom. To say the least I was upset , embarrassed and disgusted. I finally found my keys and left. up until the used condom, i was very pleased with this place. However, the hygiene and not cleaning properly under and around the bed will cost them a customer. I will never return here again. Unfortunately my memory of this place will always be the dirty used condom that I mistakenly touched. read more

Wonderful, relaxing escape from the city! A 1.5 hour drive from Austin, 2.5 hours from San Antonio. Stayed 5 days in this lovely Victorian slash Western themed Bed and Breakfast. The interesting and vintage feel of the big house and friendly owners were just the best. There were nice, small touches in the room, too, like Folger's little 1 cup coffee bags and the electric instant hot water kettle and the hummingbird on the ceiling fan pull and the little ice maker and telephone for guests in the hall--also the excellent Vizio TV with great sound and without a glare--and fast Wi-Fi--and high ceilings ---little fridge and microwave and big bathtub -- --made it a really nice place to "nest." The big shady yard with gorgeous towering Pecan trees was a perfect place to relax--you could star gaze at night-- and I could exercise my little quiet Chihuahua in the big yard. (Thank goodness, for a fee, they could make an exception for little quiet lapdogs. He stayed in his portable kennel when inside the room.) The hostess will make a breakfast for you but they also provided little instant oatmeal packets in room if you were nesting. There is a convenient little grocery store just down the street. San Saba has " Oliver's"--top quality sandwiches and salads at medium prices. San Saba It has the feel of a Hill Country Town with a good future ahead--I hope they manage their growth carefully --it is not touristy and crowded yet. Mill Pond Park is a lovely nature walk. There are pecan companies and gift shops to buy different kinds of pecan butter and gifts for your friends stuck back in the city, and a local winery. read more

My husband and I spent half of our homey moon at Aunt M's. This was the best 4 days to have after our wedding and I have recommended this to so many couples. Being able to get away from the grind of life to enjoy a relaxing oasis is not only rejuvenating but I believe that we all need to wash our worries away in relaxation. I can't wait to return to Aunt M's Inn for our future vacationing. We were able to wake in such a comfortable bed as we woke up to the smell of amazing breakfast made. The air filled our room with delicious aromas. I excitedly went downstairs to see what was creating the aroma. The room we stayed in was decorated like a vineyard. The art on the was was peaceful and pleasing to the eye. It was amazingly created. The bathroom and other amenities to the suite were perfect for staying in our room for a relaxing get away. We were able to stay in our sweet so we can relax and enjoy being newly married. We enjoyed going to the Wedding Oak Winery, to see the state park, and the park with the duck pond as well as enjoy scenic drives. I loved being able to take our time and move at a slower pace to really soak up all the atmosphere and each moment to fully connect with my husband. In the evening I loved sitting on the porch as the sun set and darkness fell in. We would enjoy wine and playing games or talking before turning in for the night. The bathroom was set away from the room just enough to have a relaxing shower or bubble bath in the tub to wind down. I am not able to give this green jewel the justice and full sensation of being there through my post you would have to bee there to fully embrace everything.
