    Red Door Bed and Breakfast
    Michelle W.

Full disclosure, this was my first time at a bed and breakfast. The only time I have seen these were in the movies. Yea I know...that's not realistic. In the movies, you see a bed and breakfast where everyone eats meals together and mingles in the living room. That's the part I was like "uughhh I just wouldn't know what to say." What would you have to wear to something like that? Lol Short story: I had such a great time here and felt so comfortable staying here. Thank you Brent and Monica! Any cellphone service provider that is not AT&T may have some issues with data roaming so I am glad they had Wifi here. My friend was having a wedding reception and I looked for some places to stay at in Mason. I called the Chamber of Commerce and they provided me with some names and phone numbers. The Red Door has a website, but you must call and make reservations so they can put a credit card on file. However their site has pictures and descriptions of their rooms so you can get an idea of what to expect. I called and made a reservation for one night. I called the day of my arrival since I was going to get to Mason after check in time (3pm). Nobody answered so I just left a message. When I got there it was super easy to find (thanks to the red door). I walked into the front door and noticed there wasn't any rooms just a foyer. So I went upstairs and I was greeted by Brent. I let him know I was a new guest. He asked for my card and let me know where I was staying at. When I got into my room I thought it was so cute. Cute bathroom with floral wallpaper and floral shower curtain. The bathroom had a sink, toilet and stand up shower. It also had a closet area with luggage rack. The carpet was so soft and squishy. The room has a coffee maker and packets for the coffee. Very clean room. The room is so spacious. They have toiletries in the bathroom like hotels (make up remover wipes, lotion, bar soap, and shampoo). There was one thing it didn't have which was a tv. At first I was worried, but I was glad. This was my night to enjoy Mason and experience this bed and breakfast. The wifi as expected was spotty since you share it with the other guests in the house. I think this is why I enjoyed it more since I got to enjoy the town. I loved the outdoor balcony. We sat in rocking chairs when we got there and at night. The living room is so big inside. Lots of games to play with. I think I need more places like this where people communicate with each other and don't rely on electronics to keep busy with. We need more communication. Check out was nice and easy. I read an article about most people not going to bed and breakfasts since they just don't know about them and know what to expect. The Red Door has changed my mind about them and I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you so much Brent and Monica. Very welcoming and nice.

    Amazing details!

Great place to stay. Extremely nice room. Hot water in showers. Right on town square. The owners are nice and friendly. The balcony is a nice place to relax.

You approach the resort by dirt roads, but they are well maintained and no problem for our sedan. The Tesla nav system was accurate. We had no problems getting there and back. Kelly and Brian are excellent hosts. Brian can regale you with many anecdotes from Central Texas history, most of which I had not heard before, even though we've lived in the Lone Star State for 38 years. Our room was quiet, cool, and comfortable. The lobby is also quiet and is a great place to sit and read. There are two very sweet dogs that have the run of the place. We had a lot of fun interacting with them. You can walk the grounds and along the dirt roads with nearly zero traffic. I do recommend sturdy hiking boots, as cockleburrs are plentiful. There are also venomous snakes in this area, although we did not see any. Better safe than sorry. We will certainly return. I'm thinking March or April will be perfect to catch the wildflowers and get in before the summer heat. Please the attached photo captions for additional comments.

After hearing that they are well known for their little B&Bs this one stood out among the rest for our weekend trip. We were going to be visiting on our 15th anniversary and lucky for us they still had some Saturday night reservations a few weeks before our trip. We originally had the Evening Star reserved but a lovely woman from the reception reached out to us upon seeing our reservation and asked if we wanted to be upgraded to the Weber House - for no additional charge! This was an absolute yes! What a nice gesture since they knew it was our anniversary - based on the questionnaire during check out. Some of the buildings are split with multiple room offerings- like the main hall- the Weber House however we stayed in was just us. We had a cute porch, living room, kitchen, bedroom, hugeeee bathroom with clawfoot tub and a screened in outdoor porch. Some of the bigger houses you can rent have room for multiple people but ours was intended for 2 people. They also have a cute library with some books and DVDs you can borrow. The property itself was VERY quiet. When we arrived we checked in at the little office upfront. The girl working even walked us to our little house since we had never been on the property before. Whoever stayed at the house the night before had broken the glass on the little table in the kitchen which was a bummer, so we could not use that, and maintenance was off on weekends. But otherwise it was the cute quaint place. Bed was comfy, central AC even though the buildings themselves pre-date that. Each one is unique too! We especially liked sitting on the screened in porch at night and enjoying a bottle of wine. In the morning they promptly left breakfast in a basket at 9am at our doorstep that was home cooked. It was a very sweet inn.

My wife and I biked the Willow City Loop, and we were able to leave straight from the Hoffman Haus without any issues.
