Lynn, one of the owners welcomed my wife and I at the driveway. Before we arrived, Lynn even washed our linens in special detergent due to a skin allergy. The facilities were clean and the cupboards filled with thoughtful items to make our stay cozy. The bedroom windows looked onto an inviting courtyard. Each morning at 8:30, breakfast and coffee were served in the main house's dining room. The breakfast recipes were decadent and delicious. It made for an excellent chance to utilize the indoor fireplace at our cabin as we played board games throughout most of the evening. Our cabin wasn't much to look at on the outside, but gorgeously decorated and maintained on the inside. While it was secluded by trees from the many other cabins on the ranch, some others looked too close for comfort or privacy (but that's just my observation). Its October and probably the start of their off-season, yet they had a live music series we enjoyed Saturday night on the property. The music was at an outdoor cantina bar near the front of the ranch, which also had a large basketball court and miscellaneous balls for the kids to keep occupied with. At the bar, they offered a small selection of food which primarily consisted of Chili and Sausage wraps. The river across the street was easily accessible. If it were warmer, we would have spent our whole weekend in the scenic waters of the Guadalupe. Kayaks, tubes and rope swings were available to all guests on the ranch. I will mention (PARENTS TAKE NOTE) that the one fickle child who didn't want to do anything outside or with the family, was sorely disappointed in the Rec room offerings. With family coming in from all over, RTR was a great place to gather and relax. We brought lots of snacks and food to make for the weekend. It was nice that the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishware. Making breakfast each morning was a pleasant and fun delight. The most enjoyable and scenic part of the weekend was the herd of deer (saw at least 7-10) in the backyard. It was early in the morning while we enjoyed some fresh coffee. The kids even got to see one just a couple feet from the back door later that same morning. Roddy Tree Ranch offered us plenty of amenities and activities to take pleasure in, but the fact of the matter is the family made its own fun by simply being together in nature.

Husband and I booked our 3 night trip for September 2026 back in March 2026 through Hotels.com…read more(Expedia), paid in full. A week before our trip, a lady named Tawni, who deals with the Ranch's financials, told me in writing and over the phone that I was required to provide my personal card information for the sole purpose of "incidentals." Was totally fine with this and understandable. However, when waking up on the first morning of our stay, I got a notice from my bank that my account was overdrawn. I was shocked because I had over $500 in my account the night prior which I had saved for vacation activities, gas, etc. keep in mind, I'm only 27 years old so $500 set aside is a lot to have in this economy for my age. Contigo had used my personal card to DOUBLE CHARGE me for my entire 3 night stay all over again. Not only was I lied to about the card only being used in the case of incidentals, but they dishonestly charged me an additional $572 instead of debiting hotels.com for the amount I paid in march which is what was supposed to happen. After frantically contacting Tawni again to inquire about what happened, she acknowledged there was a payment error and initiated a refund. The only problem was that bank processing times can take 48-72 hours to post a refund, so I had zero dollars in my bank account until after my stay was over. I was then told through a text that it was ultimately my responsibility to carry additional funds in the case of a merchant "error," and blamed me for their mistake. Would give zero stars if possible. The people who run this place behind the scenes are scammers and shady. Don't let the pretty pictures fool you. And definitely don't give your card information to Tawni.

We had the pleasure…read moreof staying at Contigo Ranch (cabin #2) for my brother in law's wedding last weekend and still buzzing from our stay! Contigo is a family-owned working ranch about 10 minutes away from the mountains (hills) of Enchanted Rock. I have no idea how many acres it consists of...but this place is huge. It is surrounded by different styled cabins, some as traditional looking as ours, where you feel completely lost in time...and some are crafted to have a more modern exterior. Either way, this place makes you feel like you're actually escaping from the hustle and bustle of city life. No cell service as well which some can find irritating but honestly we need a little silence every now and then. The wifi does work for the most part though! Our little weekend home came with a living room area, kitchenette, master bedroom suite and large bathroom with bathtub and shower. While the exterior truly felt like a scene from Little House on the Prairie, the interior came with modern finishes with a perfect touch. Fireplace, but also central heating and cooling. Windows in every corner, but also ceiling fans. You get where I'm going here. The center of the ranch holds a gorgeous event hall perfect for a wedding weekend or party. Depending on what you're looking for, you can choose from the different types of cabins on site to stay. We loved it. I will say, it is on the pricier end (our cabin ran about $350 a night). But you're paying for the convenience and beauty of the ranch. Take a morning stroll for a chance to hang with the cattle or enjoy the complimentary morning breakfast left on your front porch. Either way, you'll enjoy your time.

It's got all the modern amenities you'd want. Beautiful modern bathroom with walk-in shower (though the water pressure left a little to be desired). Comfortable sitting room. Cute kitchenette. King sized bed with perhaps the comfiest mattress and sheets I've ever slept in. There's a salt water hot tub outside as well. There's another rental property right next door in the old converted barn, but we still felt like we had a lot of privacy. And you're close to 290 so you get some highway noise (not from the inside of the cabin), but then again that also means you're just minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. There's satellite TV and Wi-Fi available for those who can't completely unplug. The rental owner left lots of nice touches like a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates and snacks and a Keurig coffee maker. Just an FYI there's no range or hotplate in the kitchen, but there is a microwave and waffle maker along with plates and bowls and such. Price was spot on to what I'd expect from this level of accommodation and working with the owner was very easy. Would definitely return. Very happy to make this my 500th review!
