My sister and I stayed here as a last minute weekend get away and we both loved it. It was extremely peaceful, tidy, and the grounds were well kept. Most importantly, dog friendly! My sister and I both brought a dog each and they loved it. The owner Denise was lovely! We drove in Friday after work from Austin. Got there in time to watch the sunset. There's a reason it's called Painted Sky Inn! Each room has a little box in the fridge of S'mores stuff for a small extra fee and there's supposedly a fire every night, was both nights we stayed there and we used it to make S'mores. There as filtered water in the fridge and Denise did tell us we could have more if needed. Not a lot of food close by so we brought our own food for the weekend. We used the stovetop and all the plates and pans to make meals. Saturday we rented some kayaks and kayaked to the small island in the middle of the lake and did some swimming. Came back and spent some time in the hammocks, did some reading, and even swam a little right off the back of our room. We don't fish much ourselves but definitely an inn made for fishing and saw quite a few people doing so. Sunday we checked out and made it out to Inks Lake State Park for a little hike and swim, it's a short drive from the inn! All in all was a good weekend getaway and we plan on going back.

This was the best place I've stayed in a long time! I can't say enough good things about this place! Went for a last minute getaway right as Spring is starting. Amazing weather to go with their awesome views. Literally not a bad view no matter where you are on the property. Rooms were very clean and functional. Door out to the patio was great with the dog and to enjoy morning coffee by just stepping outside. Rooms have everything but an overnight (microwave, toaster, 2-burner stove, fridge/freezer). Fridge has $3 s'mores package (makes 4 s'mores + extra marshmallows) inside which is a must by the fire, which they have every night in good weather. There are grills for each room on the open patio area. Great for grilling as you watch the sunset. Ample seating all around if you prefer to sip on something and watch the sunset. Very quiet place which was delightful. Also plenty of places to sit and relax to enjoy the scenery - fishing dock, hammocks, covered shaded patio, patio away from the rooms, and chairs right outside your room. We loved our visit and can't wait to go back again soon! Oh, we didn't make use them this trip but kayak/canoe/paddle board rentals for $15/hour.

The inn is situated on a lake that is, sadly, 33 feet low due to the extended drought. They still have enough water for canoeing and fishing. The rooms are freshly remodeled and clean. The beds are comfortable, which is important when you have had a busy day traveling or exploring. The rooms come with kitchenettes and the basics for cooking, and a grill behind each room facing the lake and the beautiful view of the lake and hills. Burnet, Texas is close for grocery shopping. If you want a cozy retreat with a lovely view you should stay here.

COZY QUIET PEACEFUL RELAXING... small intimate property ran by a UBER SWEET Lady, and her Super Cool Workampers. 11 Cabins and 5 RV spots right on the lake, I was able to kayak, canoe, fish...fish were jumpin on the hooks for everyone it seemed, enjoy amazing sunsets... room were/are super clean, grills were clean, fixin for S'mores in the fridge ready for us to put together over the nitely campfire, kid and pet friendly, can't say enough... Thank You Denise for an AWESOME TIME on the lake. I'll be back and will surelyh tell all my friends!

I've used Yelp for 5 years and never felt the need to actually write a review. We enjoyed our time at PSI so much that I figured I should write a review to express what a good time we had. I grew up striper fishing on lake Buchanan at least three times a year with my dad so I remember the good ol' days before the drought. Although it is sad to see how low the lake has gotten in the last ten years you still get a great waterfront view from all of the rooms at PSI. The balcony/patios of all the rooms face west so you get a GREAT view of the sunset. The owner Denise was so friendly and accommodating. She even leaves little s'more kits in the fridge for the guests. We were able to walk right down to the water for a swim/float. We also caught a couple fish from the bank. PSI is also a great location as you are only about 20 minutes from Inks lake state park and Longhorn Caverns which are also awesome places to spend a day. Between the affordable price and the short drive from Austin it is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. I highly recommend PSI if you're planning a trip to the area!

First time visiting Painted Sky Inn with my S/O for a spontaneous getaway trip. Denise, took great care of us. We had a wonderful time and we were definitely able to enjoy some much needed R&R. We will be back soon.

This place is everything I wanted and then some for a quiet getaway! With it too hot to go camping and with flesh eating bacteria on the coast, we wanted a small retreat on the lake and found it here. This place is awesome! It's fairly inexpensive, they give you everything that you need minus food and drink, and the views are amazing! Super nice staff and just overall fantastic! The next visit I may actually get off of their hammock and try fishing on their pier!

The pros: - Staff is very attentive, friendly and helpful - Rooms are clean and reasonably spacious - Rooms have been updated recently - Beds are comfortable and sheets are fine - Fair amount of basic cable options - Breakfast is good The cons: - Building is old and I don't personally love the motel system - Pillows are really awful. They are half size and lumpy - No coffee makers in room (why?????) - Clientele is. . .mixed. On the plus side, no obvious drug deals, so better than any place in Amarillo - Water pressure is low and water smells of sulphur, but that's not really the hotel's fault

I parked right in front of my door, and while I had my reservations (it's been a while since I stayed in a motel), the room exceeded expectations. It smelled neutral, the carpet looked new, bathroom was spotless--no dirty grout or stray hairs. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a blow dryer were all provided. I was woken by sirens during the night. The front desk explained that, due to the location off Hwy 29, wrecks are pretty common in the area. Breakfast was another pleasant surprise. The area was clean and well-kept, and an employee even got cereal and milk for my child. As guests left, he promptly cleaned and reset tables for the next group. The motel is conveniently located next to a gas station in case you need anything. The pillows weren't my favorite, but they were fine. I did feel the price was a bit high, likely due to camp season and the property's close proximity to nearby camps. All in all, I'd stay again.

The guys at Templeton's Tavern get 5 stars for the friendliest and best service ever. They made us feel very welcome and right at home with many above-and-beyond moments like bringing us an extra pickleball racket to the court when they noticed another family member show up to play. The food and drinks were great. The games and pool table were super fun. We enjoyed the live weekend music from our patio while we cooked hotdogs and s'mores over the fire. Andrea was stellar with quick communication! Housekeeping gets 5 stars because it was really impressively clean. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds are well kept and we enjoyed hiking around and seeing the beautiful wildflowers. I can't say enough good things about this place. It is unique and combines all the beauty of nature with all the comforts of home and lots of attention to detail in decor and service. The container cabins are really very pretty and the spider sculptures are a neat touch. The sunset view is so amazing my tween girl ordered us all to the upstairs balcony to take it in. This is the perfect place to hang out with friends and family. We were sad to leave and will 100% be back. Best Spring Break ever.

The furnishings are tore up, even though you pay a $75 cleaning fee they require you to strip the beds, wash the dishes, and take all your garbage to the dumpster that isn't close. The WATER! Smells like a mixture of vomit and sewage that you bathe in. The restaurant/bar is a food truck and some bartenders that sat on top of the cooler for the night. Bun on sandwich was so burnt you couldn't eat it and when I left a google review the owner said I was rude so I guess that is all ok with her! Be careful though, they spy on you while you are there. 30 mintues before checkouT the "housekeeper" cased the place and then parked in front of the dumpsters and watched us... so creepy. Don't waste your money. It's HORRID, plus read the review on Google that says the same thing and the owners response. I'm rude because I kindly called out you overcharge for a dump! I am calling the health department on that food truck they call a restaurant and it. Is Luke a old creepy murder movie they way they spy on you in the dilapidated grounds...gross!
